ROB HALFORD Interviewed At Launch Party For 'New Super Mario Bros.' - Nov. 23, 2009
Rob Halford was interviewed by Ray Carsillo of 1050espn.com and ESPNvideogames.com when the JUDAS PRIEST singer attended the 25th anniversary celebration and launch party for New Super Mario Bros. at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center, New York City on November 12, 2009. Watch the footage below. (Note: The Halford portion begins around the three-minute, 30-second mark.)

"In JUDAS PRIEST, we actually play the games in the dressing room," said the singer. "Generally before a show. Just to get in the mood for the excitement and the energy for what we're gonna do. However, at our stately metal god time of life, we tend to do the Nintendo bowling. And the golfing. If there's any energy left after the show, we get into the boxing mode."

Halford — along with Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister (MOTÖRHEAD) and Lita Ford — is part of the voice cast for the Brütal Legend game, which was made available last month for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and the PlayStation computer entertainment system.

Brütal Legend is a third-person action game rich in combat, imagery and storytelling, delivering lighter-flicking fun sure to melt your face off.

Brütal Legend tells the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black. The ultimate roadie, Eddie is the first person anyone calls when they need guitars tuned or stages rigged, and has a love for hot rods and a photographic memory for every heavy metal album cover, and the lyrics those albums contained. One night, a stage accident knocks Eddie unconscious, and he awakens in a world that looks very strange yet oddly familiar, a world where every heavy metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life, and where the evil emperor Doviculus and his demon army, The Tainted Coil, have enslaved the last remaining humans. When an oppressed people request Eddie's knowledge of modern warfare, he pulls from his own experience in the only occupation he's ever had, a roadie for a heavy metal band, and under his command, this barbaric force of hot-rods, Marshall stacks, leather, and chrome will bring this ancient world into the age of metal.

What, did I miss something. A new Marios Bros? No way! Haven't we emptied the reissue-remake vault yet?

It's not a reissue or a remake...it's a brand new Mario game akin to SMB3 or SMW.

Read up on it...it's getting great reviews. You do have to have a Wii, though.

Good interview there. Super Mario Bros is one of the best games to ever have come out. Wow it's been 25 years already since it first debuted. Here's to another 25 more \m/

Releasing a new Mario based on old ideas with new graphics (which is what it is, admit it) is kind of remaking it for me.

I see as many bad reviews as good ones online. The Wii sucks.

I liked the first Mario, of course...

Just because he bounces and it's a sidescroller doesn't make it a "remake". It's a sequel. It's a completely new game with completely different levels.

Gamerankings.com has it at 88.5%....that means the average of all reviews say it's a good game.

And yes...the Wii does suck. Pretty much all negativity towards the new game has to do with the graphics being pretty non-stellar, which it is. I'd way rather have it be a true 2D game rather than the 2.5D crap they went with.

As did the video for "Freewheel Burning" whose concept was based on a video game funnily enough......

Holy crap! Judas Priest plays Wii Sports to psyche up before a show! That's the coolest thing I've heard all year. And TheEagle, no this is definitely not a remake, think of it as Super Mario Brothers 11, the game is a ton of fun and the Wii rules

Probably was thinking "Who the heck is this guy, and what is a Painkiller?"

He said he was fan, but something tells me he listens to Sergio Mendes while in the drive thru of Taco Bell.

To call it a remake is retarded. You did read that it was 4 players at once? That totally changes the experience from any previous Mario games.

COMMENT | NSMB wii rocks.

The game is a blast and can be quite challenging. I could care less about graphics on a freaking 2d mario sidescroller. If I want great graphics ill put on MW2 or Uncharted 2. Nice to see Halford plays videogames.
