OZZY OSBOURNE/FIREWIND Guitarist GUS G. Featured In ROCK HOUSE Commercial - Nov. 23, 2009
Gus G., founding member and driving force behind the band FIREWIND, is featured in a new commercial for Rock House, the leader in music instruction. Check it out below.

Gus, who was recently seen performing live with the prince of darkness himself, OZZY OSBOURNE, has joined Rock House's roster of master instructors.

"Gus plays with a great sense of melody and when he combines his technical chops and tone, out comes mind-blowing riffs," said Joe Palombo, Executive Director of Rock House. "More than just a shredder, Gus really plays with tremendous amounts of feel. His work with FIREWIND and DREAM EVIL show his has incredible writing abilities and versatility."

Details of the programs are still being finalized with Gus, but you can bet that Rock House will take an in-depth look at his technique, how he constructs his leads, how he writes melodies and harmonies, and much more.

The new Rock House product featuring Gus G. is scheduled for release in May 2010. Stay tuned to RockHouseMethod.com for more details.

Gus' Rock House instructional product will be available at MI retailers around the world for $24.99. All Rock House instructional products are distributed through Hal Leonard Corp. 1-800-554-0626. Each one of Gus' DVDs will come with a free tab lesson booklet, iPod-ready video and membership to Rock House's lesson support site at RockHouseMethod.com. This feature, exclusive to Rock House and its partners, offers students supplementary support for the lessons featured on the DVDs.

Rock House has developed an accelerated yet easy-to-use system of learning that utilizes the functionality of DVD and print, integrated with the accessibility of the Internet. Students use this fully interactive site along with their product to enhance their learning experience, expand their knowledge, link with instructors, and connect with a community of people around the world who are learning to play music using the Rock House Method.

Gus spoke out about getting the job with Ozzy in a recent Greek edition of Metal Hammer magazine. Asked how he got the gig, Gus said, "I got a message on my MySpace page from Rob 'Blasko' (Nicholson), Ozzy's bass player, asking me what was doing, if I was living in America or not and saying that he wanted to talk to me. I never thought he'd want me for something like that (playing with Ozzy). I initially thought that maybe he wanted to talk to me about doing a project or something and then he told me that one of Ozzfest's managers was looking for me. The manager said that they wanted me to fly out to Los Angeles immediately for a show that Ozzy was about to do in Anaheim, California."

Gus added that he came to the States and jammed with the other members of Ozzy's band first before Ozzy showed up to sing. Then Gus explained what happened: "Everybody else came into the room and shut the door behind them — Ozzy, Sharon (Osbourne, Ozzy's wife/manager), the band, the managers... You can imagine how anxious I was feeling at this time! Then they came out and said that I got the job and that we're gonna play that BlizzCon show together."

As for replacing longtime Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde, who apparently did not find out until late in the game that he was being sidelined, Gus said, "Zakk is a tremendous guitar player, just like all the guys that have played with Ozzy. In fact, Zakk is my favorite Ozzy guitar player ever and my biggest influence of them all! It's quite an honor for me to step into his shoes."

Wanna start pickin up those DVDs getting a little rusty. Wonder when Gus is going to start saying."This is Gus G from the Ozzy Osbourne band." I hope they let him do whatever in the studio and don't try to direct him in anyway, just let him do his own thing. I'm looking forward to the Cd either way.

Good for him. Still Miss Zakk in Ozzy's band though.

Gus G. will become Gus Osbourne as quickly as possible! Firewind, cute as it may be, is NOT a good band. I made the mistake of buying their last studio album, and just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, the cover of "Maniac" from FLASHDANCE started... and I realized that both money and time were gone forever.

Sorry, Gus, to insult your main gig... but I DO wish you well in what is surely one of the most potential-filled guitar gigs in all of metal! Just ask Randy (RIP), Brad Gillis, Jake, Zakk...

What is with people on this site today?
Gus G is a breath of fresh air and Zakk's ride was done. Time for Ozzy to move on!
As for the cover of "Maniac," I liked it on the last CD from Firewind. Open up and let bands have some fun!

Gus, can't wait to hear your new stuff with Ozzy! I may actually buy an Ozzy CD again!

...as for this commercial, I prefer the Jeff Loomis one more.

i agree with you lundtheconqueror. i don't understand people who say they wish zakk wylde was still in ozzy's band. why, so they can write another black label society album with ozzy singing? no thanks. and for those of you dissing Firewind, you have to look past their latest album to see how truly amazing that band is. albums like Between Heaven And Hell and Burning Earth are classics and really define Firewind. Gus G. is one of the best guitarists in the world and no matter what band he is in, that band is going to be better.

I understand that big things are happening in Gus G. career, since he became the new axeman of Ozzy and Rockhouse instructor.

He can shred, play melodic, great composer. To me, he's the best guitarplayer since Rhandy Rhoads. What holds me back is the age and fysical condition of Ozzy; there is not much future in this band.

Firewind is one of my favourite bands. The first 3 albums sound like old Scorpions (Uli Roth / Schenker) on steroids; the last 2 albums are less shredding, more melodic, fantastic new singer. Their previous album 'Allegiance' is my favourite one; their last "The Premonition" was still great, but more commercial in moments. I would have liked they left out 'Maniac' and replaced it with 'Ride to the rainbow's end' (japanese bonustrack).

One advice to Firewind: Gus, speed up your guitar again! (and keep us updated on your devolpments of the new album). And don't reserve great songs as bonustracks for the japanese market only...

The new Ozzy album will be identical to the last 4, except Gus G will be on guitar.

I don't miss Wylde I think he lost it many years ago

But we must be realistic. Without a good song writter behind Ozzy we can' t have a good album

Since Daisley stopped to write for OZ in No more Tears, the madman couldn't record anything decent

This guy was the driving force behind the oz music for a long time

that li guy from Dragonfarce and Gus G.....
hehe... guitar heroes... ok, they're competent,
but they cannot touch, any of the old school shredders...

seriously... simply - all the other dudes Oz - could pick were in their 50s - so there wouldn't be a young kid for the ladies to fix, their eyes on. It's a strategic move, i tell ya.

And firewind, is too derivative.... Uli/Michael on steroids...phew... hardly ....

Zakk became to popular with black label, it made no sense for him to be an "axeman" when he was already filling the shoes of a frontman with BLS.
That G guy must have been at the right place, at the right time. Good for him! (Gus if you need a g-tech i m not too busy right now)
I buy BLS records, not Ozzy's anyway. But the never-ending compairing of musicians is quiet borrrring imo...
