BRAINSTORM: New Video Interview With TORSTEN IHLENFELD Available - Nov. 25, 2009
Berlin, Germany's PitCam Production and More-Metal.com recently conducted an interview with guitarist Torsten Ihlenfeld of German melodic metallers BRAINSTORM. Watch the chat below.

BRAINSTORM's new album, "Memorial Roots", was released on October 16 via the band's new label, AFM Records. The CD was mixed at the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany under the watchful eye of Sascha Paeth and Miro as producers. 15 songs were recorded for the album, including "Forsake What I Believed", which frontman Andy B. Franck calls "a headcrusher."

Metal Blade in June 2007 released the first-ever BRAINSTORM DVD, "Honey from the B's (Beasting around the Bush)". The box set was released in digipack format "with special metal effect." The disc entered the Hungarian Music DVD chart at position No. 18.

Quit covering these up & coming flavor of the month type bands who keep getting shoved down everyone's throats.
Brainstorm is a great band who still deserve a review of their new album "Memorial Roots"!

that this band remains so under the radar and under-appreciated. They capture everything great from the traditional and power metal styles while avoiding most of the cliches and pitfalls, and they also mix in enough modern elements to always sound up to date. And they don't lack for the heaviness/thrashiness that a lot of other traditional/power bands do. Top it off with a stellar voice and always catchy hooks---what's not to like???

I agree with the ratings above, though I might give Downburst an 8 and the new one, grudgingly, a 7. Compared directly to Liquid Monster Downburst is not as good, but on it's own I think it's an 8. Also, what about Soul Temptation? That's a 9 and right up there with Liquid Monster.

Was surprised to see them come out with a new one so soon after Downburst, but I guess the new label wanted to get something out from them asap. If anything, it seems like the band may not have fully re-charged their creative batteries for Memorial Roots. Solid overall and a good listen, but bits and pieces of it sound a little too familiar & deritivative of some of their previous stuff. That said, the last track "Would You" is a an absolute killer, very fresh and new, and one of their best choruses ever!

Hope they get to do a legit US tour sometime soon. Great band. Check them out if you haven't!
