METALLICA's Chile Concert: More Than 10,000 Tickets Sold In First 12 Hours - Nov. 25, 2009
According to The Santiago Times, over 10,000 tickets to METALLICA's January 26, 2010 concert at Santiago, Chile's Club Hípico were sold within 12 hours after they went on sale this past Tuesday morning (November 24) at midnight through Ticketmaster, call centers and ticket outlets such as Falabella and Cine Hoyts.

Tickets cost from CHP$29,000 (US$60) to CHP$80,000 (US$160).

METALLICA has released details of the concert DVD that the band will issue in Mexico on November 30. Titled "Orgullo, Pasion y Gloria: Tres Noches En La Ciudad de Mexico" or "Pride, Passion, and Glory: Three Nights in Mexico City", the set was filmed in front of 155,000 over three nights at Mexico City's Foro Sol Stadium on June 4, June 6 and June 7, 2009. According to METALLICA's web site, the DVD/CD package contains a total of 34 songs taken from all three shows, which each had a different set list. Blu-Ray, digipack and deluxe slipcased editions are also available, with full track listings for each available at the METALLICA site.

Interviews with the group in Mexico are also included.

All the credits will be in Spanish and as with the band's newly released French concert DVD, the set will be available only in stores in Latin America and at the METALLICA web site, beginning the week of December 7.

METALLICA plays a few more U.S. shows next month before breaking for the holidays. The band will resume touring in early 2010 with trips to South America and Europe.

this is the most expensive "metal" show ever here in Chile, otherwise it would be sold out in a a day, Iron Maiden in march was $25000 (US$45), general admision, so.... many people think this is a robbery

The ticket prices are too high. more over we are separated by normal field, west gallery, Gallery East, and VIP field (equals no moshing, and a lot of people boring). And most importantly, Gojira's not coming.

I have a buddy down there who told me that this whole concert is a blatant cash grab. The only people scooping up tickets are the rich people and dumb kids who are completely unaware that Metallica actually used to be a metal band. He said out of his big group of musician buddy's, not a single one is going. They all find the whole thing to be a joke.

Iron Maiden soldout Chile in minutes and YngwiesDonutBaker is right, shows sell out in the states like that every friday and saturday morning. In 2003 Iron maiden sold out Madison sq Garden in 20 minutes. Metallica sold out MSG for the S&M show in the same time and that was when i had to line up infront of a TM outlet at 5am to get first crack at TIXX.

If you people who are bitching about high ticket prices have ever studied some simple economics, you would understand that ticket sales work on the simple action of demand and supply :)

I waited 4 hours in line to get tickets for the Costa Rica March 7 concert and couldn´t believe how many teenagers were in front of me, then a lot of my friends told me they couldn´t get any tickets, and they are like hardcore Metallica fans since the 80s like me...

so it is a shame all this teens that think death magnetic is "cool" get to go to a concert that will probably happen only once in Costa Rica and all the Hardcore fans will miss it.

i mean, i just hope this kids know the lyrics to seek n destroy.

Metallica kept prices on the North American leg of the DM tour at 2004 prices. I paid 100.00 for 8th row floor. That is VERY reasonable especially considering U2 in Sept. at Gillette stadium was 225.00 for way up at the top of the stadium.

Only 10,000? I don't see what the big deal is here. I figured they would sell out in a few hours down there. It does blow my mind that ticket prices are that high for that region of the world.

Um, Metallica is schedueled to perform 2 concerts in Oslo next year. The tickets for both shows were sold out in 55 minutes (with technical problems) and there were totally 48 000 tickets. The two shows they played there last summer were sold out in 15-20 minutes. Around 22 000 tickets sold. So this was not amazing at all:P
