KISS: Los Angeles Concert Available Online - Nov. 26, 2009
KISS' entire November 25, 2009 concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles can be viewed using the Ustream player below. This was the first-ever live web concert for one of rock's most iconic bands as KISS celebrated the November 19 release of their new, three-track "Guitar Hero" pack featuring "Modern Day Delilah", "I Was Made for Loving You" and "Lick It Up".

KISS chose Ustream, the leading live video platform on the web, because of its powerful platform and scalability in reaching a global audience of unlimited size. The band wanted to connect with their legion of fans that might not have had the chance to catch them during the North American leg of their 35th-anniversary KISS Alive 35 tour, a 44-city tour that continues through December 15.

"For 35 years, KISS has rocked all over the world to sold-out crowds and set the standard for what a rock show should be. This tour will solidify our place in history for having the loudest, most entertaining and hardest rockin' show in all of music," said Gene Simmons.

The iconic band recently made KISStory when "Sonic Boom", their first album in 11 years, debuted in the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Top 200. This was the highest-ever album debut for the legendary band. Frontman Paul Stanley produced the new album that marks a return to their signature '70s sound.

In creating "Sonic Boom", the band also wanted to give back by putting together a value-added release that offers three CDs for the price of one. The release includes "Sonic Boom", their centerpiece of new material including their single "Modern Day Delilah", a second disk of re-mastered KISS classics such as "Rock and Roll All Nite" and "Detroit Rock City", and a third, live disk from their show in Argentina earlier this year.

Anheuser-Busch's newest beer brand, Bud Light Golden Wheat, was the exclusive sponsor of the online concert. The sponsorship was part of the overall launch campaign for Bud Light Golden Wheat that hit store shelves nationwide on October 5.

That's cool to do that. Unlike stealing downloads - even if you watch a concert on DVD, or the internet, it still isn't the experience of being there. Smaller bands....are you listening?

yes ur correct..tommy and eric dont have the personalities of ace or peter
both tommy and eric are..
drug free
turn up on time
dont fuck up every gig
put in 100 percent each night
thank FUCK they dont have the same personalities ...if there were a poll, then people would want to see a band that DOESNT fuck up, thats why ace and peter no longer exist in kiss..this version is the best live version anyone will ever see, or had ever seen...every critic on the planet even agrees..the reviews of sonic boom and there last tour are outstanding, and its rare for a critic to give kiss a good review...!!!

With alienvirus and BillyM67. 100%!!!

On the other hand I do have to thank KISS for agreeing to do the free concert stream. Even tho it was painful to watch sometimes it was a kick ass idea (one of the only ones KISS has ever put out to fans) and I wish other bands will do the same. Throw us a bone every once and a while and give us computer music nerds a free stream of a gig. MINT fuckin' idea!

As far as Sonic Boom goes I've already stopped listening to the album. It was ok for about 2 weeks and I'm done with it. Really nothing "KlaZZic" on it. I'm not saying it sucked. It was ok but not even close to being one of the best KISS albums of all time. Not even close!

... as it was performed live, but I will be checking it out.

Paul HAS had nights were he sounded like his usual solid self on this tour, notably during a stretch of shows dating back a few weeks. I had hoped that was an indication of his voice being fully back, but clips of the last few shows seem to highlight the issue again. Its a concern for me as I may be heading to the KC show.

As far as the staying power of Sonic Boom ... two months later and its still in heavy rotation in my house (though the new Devin Townsend Band cd has dominated my cd player for the past week). My opinion of SB remains what it was on initial listen. While NOT in the class of the band's first six studio album and first two 'Alive' offerings, I do think it belongs in the discussion of the band's best post 70's offerings along with Creatures of the Night and Revenge. Which is saying somthing at this stage in their career.

The free online concert idea is a GREAT one. A tip of the hat to the band for doing it. Lets hope its a trend that other bands start to practice ...

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!!

Clearly many fans and critics feel otherwise.

In terms of sales and chart performance ... Sonic Boom is outpacing Psycho Circus, eleven years later no less. It's cruised past 200,000 copies in the US already and has remained in the Top 100 for 2 months so far ... including three weeks in the Top 20. It's chart entry at #2 is the highest for the band in the states. Its hit the Top 10 in multiple countries ... in some countries its been the band's best charting album in decades. 'Say Yeah' is set to be the next single worked ... so the ongoing sales should be solid through the first quarter of next year.

That's a win across the board for the album and the band. And its still moving units ...

I am curious to see what the total sales will be when its run is complete.

Good to see the 'KISS thread regulars' posting on this holiday. Haymaker, Brianca, Sonic Titan and the rest of you ...have a great weekend!!

I'm not sure record sales in 2009 have the same meaning as they did in earlier decades. For KISS to achieve #2 status is great. And please don't label me a "basher" for saying this, but it isn't near the same as achieving #2 status twenty or thirty years ago. Could "Sonic Boom" have achieved #2 on Billboard selling 108,000 copies in one week a few decades ago? Not a chance. Is remaining in the top 20 a notable feat for a band today? Not even. Cruising past 200,00 copies in the USA is laughable for a band who has had consistent platinum sellers in that country.

By saying that "Sonic Boom didn't meet anyone's expectations", I mean that it was promoted as if it would be the best KISS album ever recorded. The fact that a few critics like it should be a black mark against it, given that KISS has spent their entire career discrediting the critics and saying their opinions mean nothing.

I think Sonic Boom is doing just fine for 2009! And I'm glad the KISS fans are enjoying it. But lets not make it out to be more than it is.

To my pals and friends in the good ol' USA, enjoy your Thanksgiving Weekend!

I agree totally, the free online concert idea is awesome. And who wouldn't want to see more bands doing it? It's especially nice to see the words "KISS" and "free" in the same sentence! Kudos to KISS for setting the example.
