TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS To Play 'Unplugged' Show In Akron - Nov. 26, 2009
Powerhouse American vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) will play a rare "unplugged" show on Friday, December 4 at the Tap House in Akron, Ohio.

For more information, visit www.myspace.com/scorchersonwaterloo.

Owens this past summer completed a short European tour as the support act for HEAVEN & HELL. His backing band for the trek consisted of the following musicians:

Chris Caffery (SAVATAGE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORHCESTRA) - Guitar
John Comprix (BEYOND FEAR, RINGWORM) - Guitar
David Ellefson (MEGADETH, F5) - Bass
Simon Wright (AC/DC, DIO) - Drums

"Play My Game", the first solo album from Owens, landed at position No. 66 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. The CD was released via SPV/Steamhammer. The offering consists of around a dozen brand-new tracks that Owens composed himself or together with renowned friends, such as Bob Kulick, Chris Caffery (SAVATAGE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), Mike Callahan (ex-EARSHOT) and John Comprix (BEYOND FEAR, RINGWORM).

Sarjoo Devani of the Explicitly Intense web site recently conducted an interview with Owens. The chat is now available for streaming using the audio player below.

Owens' official Facebook page is www.facebook.com/timripperowens.

So long story short it will be an hour of Judas Priest à la acoustic and Ripp-Off Owens laughing his way to the bank once again due to Downing's, Tipton's and Halford's hard work.

This Ripper guy needs to get off his ass and start being a musician and stop feeding off of other artists hard work.

Its not random at all. Akron is his hometown and an easy sell-out. He must have a cable bill due or something.

Love it, this is why Ripper is cool. Plays all over the world this year and comes home and instead of sitting on his butt he works on the new Beyond Fear and does some cool local shows, man I wished I live closer, not the sam old show it should be cool, Ripper singing an accoustic show would ROCK

COMMENT | I am doubting this guy lately

You know his voice is tremendous, but it seems like he is never involved in anything stable. I understand that the return of Halford was out of his control, but removing his tenure from Priest from the equation, this guy is all over the place. Iced Earth, Beyond Fear, Yngwie, Solo Album, Cover Band HAIL, now acoustic shows in Akron? If you look at that list it kind of looks like a downward spiral into complete obscurity. I hope he gets back on track - maybe Beyond Fear is his best bet. He needs to can the covers (and HAIL) for good.
