SERJ TANKIAN's Father Releases Debut Album - Nov. 26, 2009
SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian has issued the following update:

"Being that the holidays are a time for being with family, I felt it appropriate to update everyone about a project near and dear to my heart, the debut album by my dad, Khatchadour. The album, 'Inchbes Moranak', will be out in December at selected record stores, iTunes and our very own web store at SerjicalStrike.com. The picture of the album cover is below.

"I wanted to let you know that you can actually catch a very special performance with my father and I that will be televised [on Thursday, November 26] (Thanksgiving day) on the Armenia Fund Telethon. This is an international program that is likely to be aired in your area. The perfomance will be aired sometime between 12 p.m. PST and 1 p.m. PST and again sometime between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. PST. You'll find a state by state listing of all the broadcasting stations and channels at [this location]. You'll also learn more about the telethon and the cause it supports, so please do so.

"Be on the lookout for more details about my dad's record and possible future special announcements. As always, I will update you on the happenings. In the meantime, we have created a MySpace and Facebook profile for him."

its actually interesting music. it is not quite traditional Armenian music. but it has a lot of clear elements. it also borrows a LOT from american folk. its almost like 'Arlo Guthrey does Armenian Folk Music'.

Wrong crowd to advertise this to, but I think it's pretty fucking cool that, as old as he is, he gets to release a record full of music coming from his own culture, in a foreign land.

I guess Lips wasn't wrong after all.

blabbermouth does not cover JUST metal

have you not noticed this site covering Aerosmith, Evanescence, Kiss, etc......???

and since they cover s.o.a.d., then why wouldn't they tell you about serj's dad releasing an album??

you can cut it up all you want, thats what we're here for, after all..... but just think a little bit first
come up with some actual critisism's, instead of "why is this news?" or "this isn't metal"

Well, although it isn't metal, I do like it.

And it's nice that he supports his dad. Like others already said, other people use their fame to give their kids or brothers and sisters fame or a carreer, then why not use it to give your dad some more attention? After all, if it wasn;t for Serj's dad (and mom), Serj would have never been famous or born :p

Serj dueted at The Troubadour with a band he recently signed:

The band's music is more tilted towards "world music" but might fit alongside SOAD/ST...
