TONY IOMMI, SATYRICON Frontman Send RONNIE JAMES DIO Wishes For Speedy Recovery

Ronnie James Dio's HEAVEN & HELL/ BLACK SABBATH bandmate Tony Iommi and vocalist Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven of Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON have both expressed their wishes for a speedy recovery to the legendary heavy metal singer who was diagnosed with stomach cancer earlier this week. Iommi: "Looking forward to being back out on the road with you next year. Get well soon, my old pal!" Satyr (via U.K.'s Metal Hammer): "I grew up as a huge RAINBOW fan and records like 'Rising' were huge for me. We had heard a lot of speculation that things had turned for the worst for him but SATYRICON and myself would like to wish him all of the best for getting through this and getting better in the future." Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer and is currently receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic. Dio, 67, has performed with ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and his own band DIO. Other musical projects include the collective fundraiser "Hear 'n Aid". He is widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in metal culture. He is currently involved with HEAVEN & HELL, a project which also includes Iommi and other former BLACK SABBATH bandmates Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice. Their first studio album, "The Devil You Know", was released on April 28, 2009.

That cancer picked the wrong guy to fuck with; because RJD is going to kick it's ass like he does everything else.
I've heard stories from friends (and friends of friends) about meeting the guy and they all agree he is not only *A* class act buy maybe *THE* good guy in all of metal. All my prayers/well wishes will join the millions I'm sure will be pouring to the guy.

Seeing Dio at the Grady Cole center in Charlotte about a decade ago with about 150 maybe 200 other people in attendance. He played that show as if he had sold out the Garden. The really cool thing was that he did a meet and greet afterwards for anyone who wanted to meet him since there were so few people there. Class act. Get well bro.

haven't missed a dio tour that's come through milwaukee (seen a few in chicago too) since '94. he always puts on a great show. good to hear they caught it in the early stages. hope this doesn't sidetrack any h&h tour dates. i have to see these guys together at least one more time! Good luck, and get well soon.

Let's go over the positive- A.) Dio is not in pain. B.) They caught it in early stages and hasn't metastasized. C.) He's at the best center in the world for this. And D.) This patient by the name of Ronnie James 'Fucking' Dio has a willpower like no other. The headline should of read, "Cancer Has Been Diagnosed With Dio", cause Dio is going to kick the living shit out of it. And where-ever his 1st return show in the U.S is, I don't care if its in NYC or in Alaska- I will be there, front and center.

if this guy grew up listening to rainbow how did he end in the shitty world of death metal?don't realy care just find it amusing that you can be inspred by rainbow to play death/black or whatever they call that shit. his lyrics are dark but I never once had an idea he was saying satan is cool. whatever Ronnie will beat this .

I've been following this story since the start and I cant imagine what Metal would be like without the power of Dio. I'm thankful for those that have been able to share with us fans all the details. Dio get better soon! Positive attitude and good doctors will give you great chances of recovery. Cancer is a bitch. My father in law had cancer, he was given 3 months to live. He's such a stubborn sob that he beat it twice in a row and has been cancer free for years. You can do it!!

I feel just terrible hearing this news. As strange as it sounds; it's as if Dio is a member of my family and I received this news.
How fortunate I have been through the years to enjoy Ronnie's artistic talent.
How fortunate I have been to see him once again reunite with Black Sabbath/Heaven And Hell. I have had the privilege to see them four times since the reunion. I never missed an opportunity when they came to the New York Metro area. I can not envision Black Sabbath/Heaven And Hell without Ronnie.
My only wish now is that; Ronnie makes a full recovery. After that; I once again see this GIANT OF A MAN perform again.
My love and prayers are with you and your family!

RJD, wishes for recovery from your Rock_n_Rolll children in Ukraine!!!! You were here with a concert in September 2005 with a different band than HH, they were great but not as great as Tony, Geezer and Vinny! But you were the best, as usual!!!! I remember we with a bunch of other fans were waiting for you after the concert, but I could not stay, it was a piearcing cold night for an early autumn, so we just left. But we caught up with those that stayed and they were in awe after meeting with you. Our dear Elf of Metal, we know you will make it through, "with all your faculties intact"! Blessings!

Our littlest "angel" used to throw up the Horns to show everyone she was 2! The kiddo's know most every song you have sung and try soooo hard to sing like you. Its awesome! Allison, the oldest got into a debate in the elevator one day with an older man about whether you were better than Axel Rose. She won and you are! Once again, get rocking soon! I've always thought that Ronnie is a great ambassador for heavy metal. He's articulate, intelligent and comes across as a very down to Earth person.
Heavy metal wasn't taken nearly as seriously back in the 80's by mainstream media as it is today. I think Ronnie is partly responsible for the change in general attitudes. The Hear'n'Aid project he spearheaded showed people internationally that heavy metal wasn't music by brain-dead losers for brain dead losers, but a genre of intelligent, creative hard working people who were (and are) good, honest citizens. We all owe him a thanks for that.
