POWERMAN 5000: 'Super Villain' Video Available - Nov. 27, 2009
"Super Villain", the new video from cyber rockers POWERMAN 5000, can be viewed at Ultimate-Guitar.tv. The clip was directed by Robert Hall ("Laid to Rest", "Fear Clinic"), and accompanied by award-winning cinematographer and director of photography Brandon Trost ("Halloween II", "Crank 2"). The video also features actor Johnathon Schaech ("Quarantine", "Living Hell", "That Thing You Do") as the "Super Villain".

"Super Villain" comes off POWERMAN 5000's new album, "Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere", which sold 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Issued on October 6 via Mighty Loud!/Fontana, the collection finds the band returning to the hard groove of their earlier work which included hits like "When Worlds Collide" and "Nobody's Real". "We made this record with a clear vision and a purpose," explained frontman Spider. "We wanted to reclaim a sound we created and represent certain influences as only a band like POWERMAN 5000 can. While writing, we would watch 'Godzilla' or 'Ultraman' films to ensure the sonics were on point. We knew that this record needed to sound like the footsteps of a giant robot!"

He added, "On the surface, this album is a big fun electro metal romp...though there are bigger concepts hidden within. A quote from HG Wells sums it up best; he said, 'Man is the unnatural animal, the rebel child of nature.' That is an ongoing theme in the songs, our inability to find a place in our own world. I couldn't be happier with the results. I finally feel like we have made a record that not only is exactly wanted we wanted it to be, but also a record that the fans are going to love!"

POWERMAN 5000's current lineup:

Spider One (Michael Cummings) - lead vocals
Velkro (Dave Pino) - lead guitar
Evan 9 (Evan Rodaniche) - rhythm guitar
X51 (Gustavo Aued) - bass
GFlash (Gordon Heckaman) - drums

Could he try to be more desperate to imitate his brother's music? Rob Zombie may as well have sung this song.

Billy Idol wants his hair cut a nd his stage moves back. Anyway, what a crock of shit. Hey buddy, pick a musical style and stick with it. You went from "punk" on your last album to some kind of bullshit Marilyn Manson quasi-industrial bowel movement sounding garbage that you did on that horrible disc from way back when while simutaneously riding the poplarity coat tails of Hellbilly Delux. Nu-metal is dead and burried, I guess PM5K didn't recieve that particular memo. By the way your brother is a hack as well.

I defy anyone to tell me that if you toned down the distort on the guitars and gave this song to hillary duff or miley cyrus that you wouldn't see a hit. This is pure pop garbage, spider is a chamelion shill who rides the trends of the music industry. anyone out there remember mega kung-fu radio? Bu the time the majority of you out there heard this band (tonight the stars revolt) They had already sold out. I really don't feel like going on another PM5K rant, and I'm not a BMouth shit talker. I just can't stand this man and what he does. He is what's wrong with music plain and simple.

There is no need to be so negative, if you don't like them you shouldn't have clicked on the story.

wow, i wonder who his choreographer is? seriously, this blows on so many levels. it appears that he's competing with his brother to put out the most disappointing "return-to-form" album of all time.

Every Powerman 5000 cd is excellent! They have never written a bad cd. He can actually sing which is more than you can say for Rob Zombie! Have you ever seen Powerman 5000 live and seen Zombie live. Zombie is all show and sounds like shit! He can not sing at all! Powerman 5000 sounds amazing live. This band should be huge. The only reason they fell from Grace is because they waited too long to put out their follow up to their hit cd "Tonight The Stars Revolt" Powerman 5000 fan forever!
