TOMMY LEE To Co-Produce Solo Album From BACKSTREET BOYS Singer

Former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee is reportedly co-producing several tracks for the sophomore solo album from BACKSTREET BOYS singer Nick Carter. It is not presently clear if Lee will be co-writing any of the material, which is set to surface in early 2004.
Nick's first solo record, 2002's "Now or Never", debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 chart with over 67,000 copies sold during its first week of release.

The teased hair wasn't the only stereotypically hair-metal thing about them. The production of the album was very 80's as well--think about that "gunshot" snare sound. And actually, think about it again, too. I hate to bring Metallica into this, but everyone bitches about the snare on St. Anger, but then claim to be a true 80's thrash fan.
Folks, metal records in the 80's have some truly awful, processed, electronic, washed out fuckin' drum sounds, man.

They were into some serious hair farming. OH and by the way...recording technology has come a very long way since the early 80's thrash days and their is no excuse for drums to sound like that anymore. My favorite bad 80's drum sound has to be either the totally fake electronic kit used on the COC album ANIMOSITY(what in hell were they thinking) or the bags of dog diarhea hit with canoe paddles bass drums of TANKARD. You know what sound I hate the most though is the tappy quarters taped to the drum pedal sound of CHARLIE BENANTE(circa AMONG THE LIVING)and I despise VINNIE PAUL's drum sound so much...it is awful.

Recording technology has nothing to do with it. Listen to the drums on the first two Sabbath records, or the first Zep record. Much punchier and thicker than any modern drum sounds, really. The drums sound that way on Appetite because they were designed to sound that way. Flat, tinny, processed...total shite. And Adler sure loved to hit that cowbell...

What's wrong with all you people? This man is a musical genius, absolutely the best drummer that ever lived. And the fact that he has changed with the times is amazing! I have both his solo cd's and they're incredible, he has evolved in a way I've never seen from an artist before.
