SEVENDUST To Release New Song Next Week - Jan. 31, 2010
Atlanta's SEVENDUST has finished mixing its new album, "Cold Day Memory", for a tentative spring release. The band says, "It's getting close to time to previewing a new song for all of you. Keep an eye out this week and next for a new song that we will post for everyone that has been waiting.

"We wanted to release a preview to the hardcore fans that have been with us, and give you a taste of what's to come.

"Still putting together the final touches, but the second the song is ready. We'll have it up for all to hear.

"We want you to have something fresh to listen to to gear up for the new tour coming in February."

"Cold Day Memory" track listing:

01. Splinter
02. Forever Dead
03. Unraveling
04. Last Breath
05. Karma
06. Ride Insane
07. Confessions (Without Faith)
08. Nowhere
09. Here And Now
10. The End Is Coming
11. Better Place
12. Strong Arm Broken

"Cold Day Memory" was recorded at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, Illinois with producer Johnny K (DISTURBED, STAIND, MACHINE HEAD).

Prior to hooking up with Johnny K for the new album recording sessions, SEVENDUST spent time writing and recording demos with Corey Lowery (former member of DARK NEW DAY, STEREOMUD and STUCK MOJO and brother of SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery) engineering.

SEVENDUST released a very limited-edition box set in November 2008 entitled "Packaged Goods". Each five-disc set was personally autographed by the entire band. The box set included SEVENDUST's 2005 release "Next", 2007's "Alpha", 2007's "Retrospective 2" (CD + DVD), and 2008's "Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow".

SEVENDUST's last album, "Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow" (7Bros/Asylum), came out in April 2008. The CD sold 25,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to land at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Always been a fan, although not of the last 3 albums. I've watched a few of the clips on their site and I like it a lot. Very true to what the fans asked for too. How many bands will actually ask the fans what they want and then pull through with it? Save your "I would ask them to quit" bullshit and be objective. I'm sure the bands you love would be on most peoples lists to do just that. Oh, and then see them deliver live after hearing it.

i recon the new album will be my second favourite to the first album. Of course everyones entitled to their own opinion but you didnt like the last 3 albums? really? I mean, next was pretty mediocrte in places but was ahuge step upf rom seasons. Same with alpha but chap VI is my second favourite 7D release.

alot of typos there...

Basically, I thought seasons and next were pretty poor, alpha a proper step back up and chapter vii, a classic for the band.

I actually liked Seasons a lot. And Chapter VII really grew on me, too. I can't wait to hear the new stuff with Clint. Even their worst stuff is better than the majority of the crap that's out there.

Although I wasn't a huge fan of Next, Alpha and Chapter 7 were EXCELLENT. Really looking forward to this one!

guys,

how can you not like next? that was a great album. . . i mean "pieces", "ugly", "hero", "failure", "silence". . . c'mon, those were all great tracks. . . honestly, can you really tell me that these guys have released one bad album. . . get off your soapboxes and use you "producers ear" to analyze the individual songs as seperate tracks being played at the same time. . . don't just say you don't like an album. . . tell us all why, if you're going to go on complaining or just shut up already because these guys are awesome!!! every album. . . .

Next was still a really good album, but honestly, it's probably the weakest album they've done. I don't think anyone would say that it's actually a bad CD, though. I like every song they've ever done. I have all of their albums of which I have listened to many, many times over, as well as all of their rare and unreleased shit. Next stands out the least to me, as it never really has any big stand out moments, with the exception of the first 3 tracks. Totally not saying it's a bad album in anyway, though. I firmly believe that 7D is incapable of writing a bad tune.

Anyway, I was very impressed by all of the new stuff they had in the studio diaries. Really can't wait to hear a whole new song!

Next is an awesome album, but I kinda associate it more with the time it came out. Clint had just left the band and I was bummed out he wasn't on the album. Lots of great stuff on it, but it was just a beginning of a new period for the band.

I can't wait for the new album. Bring it on!

I don't know, the album just seems a little more muddy to me in my mind. Not as much stands out as on the other albums I have, and aside from the first few tracks and the one that sounds like it's about the birth of Lajon's child...can't remember too much. Might be time to dig it out again.

It certainly doesn't top Alpha or Chapter 7 in my mind, though. Maybe they needed time to get their footing with Sonny Mayo?

For me seasons is the worse but next is next in linr. Songs like ugly, pieces and last song were cool, shadows in red was a cool ballad too (altho no x mas day) but overall i thought the album was a poorer version of stuff they've already done better in the past. The heavy sons from the debut are unbeatable, only really challenged musically on the latest album, and the ballads or heavy songs with melodic bits such as prayer...they've never been touched!!! But as i say, ugly is stil really good!

I hate how everyone always dogs on Seasons. It may not have been as heavy as the other albums, but it had AWESOME melody. Every single song (including the 4 b-sides) was strong and memorable. It was some of their best songwriting ever. The albums that came after it were lacking in comparison (though Alpha is one of my favorites).

I'm also a longtime Sevendust fan and loved "Seasons." Butch Walker helped co-write some tunes and inject some badly needed melodies to their slamming sound. If they could get back the aggressiveness of their first record with the melodies of Seasons these guys will be huge.

Seasons and Next are definitely the lesser 2 of the 7D discography. Still superior to most of the bullshit out there though. Animosity is the best and most quintessential 7D album. Home is a very close 2nd only because the production lacked just a bit. Very stoked to hear the new stuff with Clint back in the fold.

It would be great if they did a remastered version of the first album and maybe 2nd.
