Former GORGOROTH Frontman Named 'Homosexual Of The Year'

Last week the annual Bergen Gay Galla was held, and various awards were presented to persons and institutions that have contributed to the gay community in Bergen, Norway. The most prestigious award was given to Kristian Espedal (a.k.a. Gaahl). The former GORGOROTH vocalist was named "Homosexual Of The Year" and accepted the award in person. "I don't need an award to be myself. But if this can help other people in the same scene as me, it's a positive thing," Gaahl told local newspaper Bergensavisen. Gaahl, 34, is involved in a relationship with 19-year-old Robin Jakobsen (pictured below with Gaahl). When asked how he met his current partner, Gaahl said, "It was after closing time. I was at Fincken (gay bar in Bergen). Robin came to the club to look for his former boyfriend. I was buzzed on white wine, and suddenly I saw a glowing figure in the door. That was Robin. I thought to myself that he must be mine." Was it love at first sight? "No…I had to work a little for it." Were people surprised when you came out as a homosexual? "I think it's strange that it wasn't known before, but I never had a need to go public with it. Finally a German journalist had the guts to ask the question, and I answered him. Gee, you think people choose to be gay? Being a gay metalhead myself, i think it's cool Gaahl can help some other people in this way so they can be the persons they really are.
Personally i never experienced from direct people whom i have met (friends and others) in the metalscene who had any problems with me (or gay people in general), when they found out i was gay!

A Canadian airline steward named Gaëtan Dugas was referred to as "Patient 0" in an early AIDS study by Dr. William Darrow of the Centers for Disease Control. Many people consider Dugas to be responsible for bringing HIV to North America. This is considered inaccurate, as HIV had spread long before Dugas began his career. This rumor may have started with Randy Shilts' 1987 book And the Band Played On (and the movie based on it, in which Dugas is referred to as AIDS' Patient Zero), but neither the book nor the movie state him to have been the first to bring the virus to North America. He was called "Patient Zero" because at least 40 of the 248 people known to be infected by AIDS in 1983 had had sexual intercourse with him, or with someone who had sexual intercourse with him.
However, four years after the publication of Shilts' book, Dr. Darrow repudiated his study, saying that its methods were flawed and claiming that Shilts had misrepresented its conclusions.[citation needed]

The fact that it was first "found" on four homosexuals in LA, triggered the idea that it was a gay disease. Its hard to erase that from people's minds. Specially from people that are close minded like you.

Metal has become just as stale and ironic now as it did in the 80's, bunch of metal people arguing about a homo singer from a completely awful band, when 30 years ago the chicks were flinging themselves at guys that looked more bitch-like than this guys boyfriend. And guitar wankery is at an all time high, but all the same people bitching about what is/is not metal are the same ones stealing albums by downloading and burying these bands into obscurity. the ignorance in this room is overwhelming! I am a 37 year old GAY Metalhead. I don't need some scientist to tell me that being gay is genetic, I know it is. It's easy for you morons to just assume that it's a "lifestyle" or a "choice", but how would you know? I do know, I was never exposed to any gay people until age 20, and was attracted to men from my earliest memory! I have never had any trouble in the Metal scene, because I am very big, burly guy, and no one knows that I am gay, unless I tell them. I like to meet some of you idiots face to face and see exactly what you would have to say! I love Gorgoroth, but not the Gaahl-era, but I have respect for him, because it makes it easier for other gay metalheads to come out. It's just really hard to believe that 2010 people can still be so fucking ignorant!

Gaahl is an Iconoclast, a destroyer of stereotypes. I could care less what others opinions of him are, he has produced some of the best black metal of the past decade with Gorgoroth. He is one of the top Black Metal vocalists today, I respect him for his views and for being himself.
I hope he returns to the Black Metal scene soon.

Nobody is claiming that HIV/AIDS is just a gay or drug addiction disease. We all know that millions of heterosexuals have the disease. The African epidemic is mostly heterosexual due to the men having sex with unhealthy prostitutes and multiple women including rape.
People have contracted AIDS in many ways and it was spread in hundreds of ways. There is also no denying that it's prominent in homosexual males, promiscuous individuals (like men) and the use of unsterilized syringes during certain types of drug abuse (heroin). To ignore that so it can fall in line with some sort of ideology is to stick your head in the sand.
How many times do we have to hear someone died of AIDS and we find out they were either a gay man or a drug addict using heroin? To ignore it is to ignore the problem.
It's not about bashing a certain group of people. It's to use science and statistics. Some people don't like what stats tell them. So they attempt to change science to fit their ideology. That's really !@#$ed up!!!

Psychology is not a science. Even in that silly quote you posted you will see the words "would appear" lol. why did they not say "it's absolute fact"? you know why they didn't say that? because it's not a fact.
Homosexuality was on the list of sexual perversions until thet '70s when it was removed by the APA. Now what amazing discovery did they find that led them to believe that homosexuality was any different than any other sexual perversion?
ANSWER: there was none
The psychiatric/psychological community in general is a joke. Ever watch Court TV and you can see both the plaintiff and defendent call a different psychiatrist to the stand and they will say completely opposite things? It's because psychology is not science and not based on fact. Particularly nowadays when political correctness is running rampant.
You can continue to throw out your buzz words like "close-minded", but the FACT is that mother nature has made 2 different sexes, and given us a sex drive because we are SUPPOSED to be attracted to the opposite sex and mate with them so our species does not die out.
If you have no attraction to the opposite sex then there is something WRONG with you. That is a FACT.

...but I do believe some people are born gay. Its a birth defect...like autism or having 6 toes.
I understand it exists, I understand many people are born that way (other are just fucked in the head) but you should understand that everyone doesn't want to embrace it as a lifestyle.
Tolerance is disapproving of something but not trying to stop those from doing it.
