SLASH Says He Might Record Rock Album With FERGIE - Feb. 18, 2010
U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine has posted a new video clip (see below) of legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) talking about how he came to collaborate with BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie's (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) on his upcoming first true solo album, simply entitled "Slash".

Slash took to Twitter last fall to defend Fergie's vocal performance on a new recording she did with Slash of the GUNS N' ROSES classic "Paradise City" (hear audio below), also featuring CYPRESS HILL. A copy of the recording surfaced online last year while Slash was contemplating whether to include it on his new solo album. The former GUNS guitarist tweeted, "Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock & roll but she sings it better (than) most dudes I know. She's a screamer at heart."

"Slash" will be released in North America in April via EMI Label Services and in the U.K. on May 10 through Roadrunner Records. The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians, including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmister, Adam Levine of MAROON 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of AVENGED SEVENFOLD, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Andrew Stockdale of WOLFMOTHER.

"Slash" was produced by Eric Valentine (QUEENS OF STONE AGE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS) and was completed with the rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and drummer Josh Freese (NINE INCH NAILS). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.

"The idea was really simple in the beginning," said Slash. "These are all artists I wanted to work with — that I thought it would be amazing to do something creative and collaborative. And I was so impressed with what everyone brought to the table. They were all so committed to doing a good job. And we had a lot of fun making these songs."

In the U.K., "Slash" will see Roadrunner Records enter into a unique and innovative association with a U.K. media partner — the special-interest media group, Future. In a brand new concept in record distribution the standard album release will be preceded by a "fan pack," in which the Roadrunner Records album will be bundled together with a highly-collectable special issue of Future Publishing's Classic Rock magazine dedicated to Slash's career. The Slash "Fan Pack" featuring his debut solo album from Roadrunner Records, along with a 132-page "Classic Rock Presents: Slash" special, will have a cover price of £14.99 and will be available on magazine newsstands nationwide, in over 3,000 non-conventional music retail outlets such as WHSmith, all supermarket chains and many independent high street newsagents.

The Classic Rock Slashpack will also be the only album version to include two extra bonus tracks: "Baby Can't Drive" (featuring Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger) and a cover of the classic GUNS N' ROSES track "Paradise City" (featuring Fergie and CYPRESS HILL).

The track listing is as follows (guest vocalists in parenthesis):

01. Ghost (Ian Astbury, feat. Izzy Stradlin) (3:34)
02. Crucify The Dead (Ozzy Osbourne) (4:04)
03. Beautiful Dangerous (Fergie) (4:35)
04. Promise (Chris Cornell) (4:41)
05. By The Sword (Andrew Stockdale) (4:50)
06. Gotten (Adam Levine) (5:05)
07. Doctor Alibi (Lemmy) (3:07)
08. Watch This Dave (Dave Grohl, Duff McKagan) (3:46)
09. I Hold On (Kid Rock) (4:10)
10. Nothing To Say (M. Shadows) (5:27)
11. Starlight (Myles Kennedy) (5:35)
12. Saint Is A Sinner Too (Rocco De Luca) (3:28)
13. We're All Gonna Die (Iggy Pop) (4:30)

Bonus tracks:

14. Baby Can't Drive (Alice Cooper, Nicole Scherzinger)
15. Paradise City (Fergie, Cypress Hill)

Doing one or two songs with a hip hop/pop singer mayve can be overlooked, but to record an album with Fergie... come on Slash. Why not go all the way in the crapper and include Beyonce or Lady Gaga on the album. Why not work with Alvin and the Chipmunks or do a Kidz Bop version of "I used to love her"

Everybody's talking about his new solo album like it's supposed to be the greatest thing ever.

Wasn't Slash's Snakepit his solo thing? Nobody cared about that so why all the fuss over his new one?

Also Fergie is no where near as talented as the Black eyed Peas would have you believe.

I think a Fergie and Slash album would be awesome. She has an outstanding voice for rock.

She sounds insane on this. In fact, The end of here first chorus sounded like AXL. These days, musicians have crossed over each others boundaries in every form. Jazz-metal fusion, rap and metal, you name it. This is just haters hating on Slash. So he wants to try different things. He wasn't told whe he started playing that he had to play straight ahead rock and metal or he couldn't play. For all I care he can play nursery rhymes. I won't buy them, but I won't hate on him either. Makes no sense.

GNR is dead for him ( I think it's kind of dead period from what it once was), VR is on permanent hiatus with no singer. Slash is loaded already so I doubt he is doing this to make money.

And Fergie has a body purely built for sin. Bult like a brick house. That rack is made for pokin' and from what I read, she is incredibly sexual with both sexes.

Slash has full credits on both Snakepit albums which I'm sure he got nice persentages on royalty wise, all included below.
GNR Original lineup (you know what I mean by original) sold:

Estimated 90Million albums sold worldwide, some estimates put it at 100Million. And I believe this was before Chinese Democarcy so Slash is doing very well. Last year, AFD sold 240,000 in the US alone. Worldwide that must be close to a million, after 25 years!
Made up of

He has Live Like a Suicide
AFD - 29 million US alone
G'N'R Lies - 5 Million - long time ago and US only
UYI I and II - 14 million each US, Worldwide probably double that.
Spaghetti Incident 2-4 million
Sakepit - It's Five O'clock Somewhere 1 Million +
Snakepit (Don't recall the name) 1 Millionm +
VR Contraband 3 million back than
VR Libertad - Platinum

My guess is unless AXl has him FCKD, he is making more off of royaties than any other GNR member due to the amount of platinum albums he has played on. H

He also has written or contributed to songs for dozens of artists from Ray Charles to Lenny Kravitz, to Micheal Jackson so he has royalties from all that.

Bottom line, he's doing fine.

Tranny. That's funny. Sometimes Fergie looks super hot and other times her face is so ate up, drugged out, and seriously prematurely aged. Her body is solid as Stone Mountain. I'll bet if you smacked one of those jugs you's break your fingers.
