AMORPHIS, INSOMNIUM Honored At FINNISH METAL AWARDS - Feb. 21, 2010
AMORPHIS and INSOMNIUM are among the artists that were honored at the Finnish Metal Awards, which was held Saturday night (February 20) during the Finnish Metal Expo at the Cable Factory in Helsinki, Finland. Members of the Finnish metal media pre-selected the candidates and the people cast their votes to select the winners, which were as follows:

Band Of The Year: INSOMNIUM
Record Of The Year: INSOMNIUM - "Across The Dark"
Vocalist Of The Year: Tomi Joutsen (AMORPHIS)
Cover Art Of The Year: AMORPHIS - "Skyforger" (Artist: Travis Smith)
Newcomer Of The Year: FM2000
Demo Band Of The Year: GHOUL PATROL

The sixth annual Finnish Metal Expo was held February 19-20, 2010 in Helsinki.

Finnish Metal Expo, the main event of Helsinki Metal Meeting, took over the Cable Factory for the sixth time. This is where more than 50 operators in the metal music industry showcased their latest offerings in the exhibition area and the hot metal acts took the stage.

Across the Dark is a great album, but probably my least favorite of theirs (not by much though). Skyforger is great too. I agree with Your Demise- COB and HIM are way overrated.

I agree with Pod, Skyforger is better than Across The Dark, but they both dwarfed anything else I heard in 2009.

really? dude shadows fall are a band from springfield massachusetts, as for shitty, i think thats a bit stupid to say, just because they took on a different direction from their early releases, which are still awesome to this day.

I thought Across the Dark was great, Since the Day it all Came Down is still my favorite, but I enjoy all their albums.

Very strange. Children Of Bodom's website says that Alexi won the award musician of the year. This is a category that has always existed in the FMA. This year there is no information for it. I guess this is a mistake.
