Kids' Cover Of DOWN's 'Ghost' Gets ANSELMO Stamp Of Approval - Feb. 25, 2010
Several students from the Aaron O'Keefe music-instruction school in Ohio recorded a cover version of the DOWN song "Ghosts Along the Mississippi" on October 24, 2009 at the Chicago Recording Company. You can hear the track as well as watch the accompanying studio footage below.

The musicians featured on the recording are as follows:

Drew Lowry: Vocals
John Donnell: Guitar
Andrew Alten: Guitar
Erik Michelfelder: Guitar
Sam Parsons: Bass
Sam Ruschman: Drums

Commented DOWN/ex-PANTERA vocalist Philip Anselmo: "Unbelievable! These kids are great! DAMN... how flattering! If they keep at it (learning from the best), they'll be getting a call from me to jam in a couple of years!"

Yeah it sounded pretty decent. I dug the kid's vocals too. But they need to loosen up and actually enjoy themselves. They looked really bored! Jump around and get into it! Have some fun! That's what it's all about.

Here comes Uncle Phil with a fat sack of dope and a 12 pack of Becks!

Seriously this is great. And I wonder if the teacher explained to these kids that this song is about H?

Maybe I'm wrong?

That was good. Any snot-nosed kid can do that song though. I like to see them try and cover "Salomon's Gate" by Beherit.

The kids vocals were good. They are the new Black Tide.

that in 2010 rap rules their peer group and most of them wouldn't be impressed with these guys. If my friends and I could have done this back in the 80's girls would have been all over us. Man, if they only had autotune back in 85' I could have been a metal god in high school.

The only thing I don't get is why would anyone use a friggin' Fender with single coils to play any metal? Just use a humbuckers guitar...

BTW, G&L FTW ;-)

i commend them too, but i didn't like the vocals. it's too clean and pretty for this type of song.

Also, I love that one of the kids playing guitar is big, just like Kirk :D

this is great to see! As a child, I too was in a band and pretty much did the same thing- we recorded several home made albums and played all over the place at fairs and stuff. It taught me A LOT about who people really are. When music is involved, everyone gets along (without drunk people) Seeing this brought back those memories...

These kids are great. Good for them. All these School of Rock business's popping up are a great opportunity for kids wanting something different then your typical public school music class. Good stuff.
