Guitarist extraordinaire Vinnie Moore is strongly rumored to have joined UFO as the replacement for Michael Schenker. Moore will reportedly join the rest of the group — vocalist Phil Mogg, bassist Pete Way, keyboardist Paul Raymond and drummer Jason Bonham — at an undisclosed studio before the end of the year to begin work on the band's next album, tentatively due next summer. UFO were previously in talks with former EUROPE/DOKKEN guitarist John Norum to replace Schenker, but eventually decided to look elsewhere while Norum continued work on his upcoming solo album.

yes, Vinnie Moore is good, but as for running circles around Petrucci, i'm not as sure about that one, I'm not as familiar with Moore as i am petrucci, but i'd have to say overall, petrucci is better, although, if you list some vinnie moore songs for me, i'd really appreciate that, because if he is better, i'd sure like to hear some really badass stuff from him, so anyone with some suggestions for Vinnie moore's music, post it

Yeah, he is one of my all time favourites. A brilliant guitarist and songwriter. I suppose that Vinnie Moore is a good choice as a replacement. Schenker left behind a lot of great material with tasty melodic solos. Just the same, I'd rather see Michael Schenker, but apparently he too busy hocking stuff on eBay.
Good luck Vinnie. I don't know much about him but he must be good to have joined UFO.
Also: Wow, when did Jason Bonham become their drummer? What happened to Aynsley Dunbar?
I really enjoyed the last 3 albums (especially the songs "Someone's Gonna Have To Pay" and "A Self Made Man"). I can't wait for the next one. In contrast, I've found Schenker's last few albums a bit generic and flat. He really belongs in UFO! No offence meant to Chapman and Moore of course.

... Check out "Mind's Eye" or "Time Odyssey" if you'd like to hear Vinnie spell Yngwie. His later releases, like "Meltdown" or "Out of Nowhere" bear closer likeness to Satriani. He DID go back to the neoclassical shredding on "The Maze" in 1999...
I saw Vinnie twice on the Meltdown tour and he was insanely good. As good as Petrucci. Call 'em equals. My only bitch about Vinnie was a protracted and disturbing God speech/preach at the second show I attended. Save that bullshit for church. I didn't trade my time and $$ for a sermon. He sure can play, though.

Look, UFO existed before and after Schenker. I'm not denying that he is a talented guitar player, but he's also a volatile fruitcake. That's why they're not working with him anymore...
Paul Chapman is actually working on a new Waysted album with Pete Way & original vocalist Fin. Maybe that's the ticket, though having Vinnie Moore on board would be interesting...
currently downlaoding all i can find on kazaa, not a whole lot, but it's certainly more than i have

i'm digging the vinnie moore guy, hence the post right after my last one, i still don't know about being equals with petrucci, jp's use of shitloads of styles and modes and whatnot is ungodly, although, this opinion my chabge, i'm only in my second moore song right now, and quick pop quiz, Anybody know what happens tomorrow? If you said my birthday you were correct? Big party over here in mandeville, if any one lives nearby, you are more than welcome, just email to let me know, i doubt many of you live near here though
