MTV: EDDIE VAN HALEN Tried Out For LIMP BIZKIT

Legendary axeman Eddie Van Halen was one of 11 guitarists that auditioned for LIMP BIZKIT during their lengthy search for a replacement for Wes Borland earlier this year, according to a MTV.com news feature on the making of BIZKIT's new album, "Results May Vary". Not being 100% satisfied with any of the candidates, LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst eventually called a guitarist he remembered feeling chemistry with a year earlier and asked him to come back. Mike Smith, formerly of SNOT, jammed with the band for 20 minutes before he got the invitation to join. "He's what we've been looking for," Durst said. "We need an actual guitar player." "I feel like I play really well with these guys," Smith said. LIMP BIZKIT would later liken their guitar search to a relationship, saying they could not commit to someone else until they had completely gotten over Borland.

I actually think its bloody good!!!
Yeah - I know Fred's a dick licker and all but I'm pretty damn impressed. I doubt anybody here has actually heard it but maybe you should give it a go. Just don't expect too many heavier songs (and the heavy single they released stinks BTW). Its mostly really cool ballads and Fred's voice sounds good.

I have never met fred durst. Most of you have never met Fred durst, or will ever meet him. I find it really funny that you bash a guy so thoroughly from information gotten through word of mouth and the media, and we all know the media never lies or embellishes a story to make it sell, that would be crazy.
All I'm asking is how can you judge a guy you've never met. Now there are going to be responses to this saying, well, I don't care, he sucks, he said this or he did this or he's queer. Fine, those people are obviously going on information that they weren't there in person to collect, and therefore are the ignorant ones for trusting blindly what other people have said has happened.
P.S. limp bizkit's music sucks, I cant say that about the people cause Ive never met them.

This cannot be fucking true!!! Fuck man, I listened to Fair Warning in my car on the way to work today and there's no way in hell the guy that wrote that album would play in Durst's band. If it's true, Eddie must be back on the booze and blow again, but I refuse to believe that the most innovative guitarist in history would play with Durst. But then again: he played with Michael fuckin Jackson!!!

Eddie Van Halen??? Well, my best placed source says yes, Eddie did audition - what was he thinking? But - a possible glimmer of light in the tunnel - apparently we will all know what's going on with Van Halen by the end of the year. I'll believe it when I see it, but here's hoping. LIMP EXCUSE FOR FRONTMAN TO GRAB SOME PUBLICITY:
It seems Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has been caught out in another example of his own generated BS. MTV.com featured a report on the new Bizcrap album and the situation of the band needing a new guitarist. Durst stated that, among others, Eddie Van Halen had auditioned for the role. You would think MTV would check that fact - they didn't. But I did - and a trusted source confirmed that Eddie had met with Durst.
But there's more to the story - the truth to be precise. This morning another trusted source - who read my news item yesterday and the MTV piece, e-mailed me with the real details of the pair's meeting.
The absolute truth of the matter is Fred invited Eddie over to jam - which the guitarist did. He just went over and played with them for fun. My source makes this quite clear with the line: "[to suggest that] Eddie auditioned for ANYONE is just pure un adulterated bullshit and it's an insult to Ed and anyone that knows him. Fred, ever the PR man, loves to get his name in the papers... Ed is gonna be pissed off when he finds out what Durst is saying about him!"
Amen to that!
Further info from the Van Halen family - David Lee Roth has cancelled the remaining dates of his current US tour due to the on stage accident last week. No word on when the singer will be back on the road. Strangely - or not - the live dates previously credited to Australia seem to have disappeared.
Sammy Hagar is apparently considering his next move - whether to make a new solo record, or to have a break in 2004. Sadly, there seems to be no movement on the Planet Us front. Hagar will however, complete lead vocal on one track for the next Montrose album, currently in pre-production in LA.

I hate to break it to LimpDickHead, but Eddy Van Halen is 1,000,000 better guitarist than the loser he's got now.
Eddy V. can play circles around any of these so called "guitarists" in these nu-metal bands today. I would love to see even Wes Borland even try to play "Eruption".

FUCK LIMP!! I bought the BEST OF PANTERA today :) There were no LIMP cds in the new release section at Virgin Megastore - Times Square NYC... it goes to show you how much faith they have in that record selling. Just out of curiosity I had to see if they had it at all and there were probably 3 and that was it. The new Releases were dominated by SHITkelback, Outkast and Dave Matthews.
