ARK: In The Studio Recording Third Album - Nov. 21, 2003
ARK, the band featuring ex-CONCEPTION guitarist Tore Østby, former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN drummer John Macaluso, and ex-MALMSTEEN bassist Randy Cove, have posed the following message on their web site:

"Dear ARKpeople!

"As you know from our last note, we've been underground investigating stalactites and other natural phenomenon. We apologize for a long delay of information, but the band as well as the music had to fall from space back to nature and other earthly works. We feel it is now time to speak because we wanted things set in stone. Fans of the band will really love and appreciate the new style we have captured. The music is where we wanted it to be. After a full year of trauma, pain, joy, experimentation, love and struggle we've finally hit our mark.

"Fearing the number 3 is a very common phobia. We are gonna use this phobia in a positive sense. Our third album is our lives splattered on a round silver disc. We are extremely proud of the songs written, and totally excited being in the recording process. This album is as deep as the wholes of Galdhøpiggen to the ancient caves of Tautavel Man, which both gave inspiration to the writing (no joke). We're on our third week of recording here in New York. Again imbedded deep in the city. We found a great drum tracking team in Dynamite Sound as big, fat and tight as your aunt Betsey.

"The results are coming out fantastic!

"We would like to thank all the people still frequently visiting the website and keeping up the faith — the faith only makes us stronger!

"[Here] are some pictures from the recent sessions. We will keep you informed!"

COMMENT | Yeah, what about Jorn?

Is he still part of this band? I hardly see how this new album can measure up to the last one if Jorn's not on it.

COMMENT | SERIOUS QUESTION HERE:

What is their music like ?

Cross them between 2 other bands(or something) and let me know ?

I read about them a few times but failed to pick it up .

COMMENT | Jorn is still with the band.

He even wrote that post on the ARK-website. Not very clever of blabbermouth not to mention his name. He's by far the best known musician in this band. Looking forward to this disc. in the meanwhile: check out the new discs by Space Odyssey and Astral Doors. They have a singer that is a cross-over between Jorn Lande and Ronnie James Dio. WICKED!!!

I would describe Ark as really classy, but not cheesy, prog-metal with great hooks, superb songwriting and arrangements, and one of the top 5 vocalists in metal.

A overall good band but some of their stuff doesn't come off well and does sound abit cheesy. So they are not as superb as SA or Watchtower but still a good band.

Jorn is excellent. It is hard to categorize them. Jorn sounds a bit like Russell Allen, and the music is kind of a technical prog-metal with a bit of funk and pretty modern sound to it.

COMMENT | Sure will be a great album without the Jorn "dog" Lande

Johan rules: Maby you should read the lyrics?

'Sending a message to all, sending a message to god'.

The magician: How do you know Lande is still with the band? The post on the homepage is signed 'John & Tore'.

COMMENT | Sorry Steeler...

...John / Jorn. Minjor case of dyslexia, I guess. Oops. In that case: we can only hope.

BTW MR9, I don't think Jorn sounds like Russel Allen at all, in fact I like Russel Allen better. Just my opinion though. But then again, he is hard to categorize. "Dio's little brother" would only cover some of his capabilities.
