GENE SIMMONS Domain 'Hijacked' by Indie Rock Musician - Dec. 2, 2003
In a bold attempt to gain notice in Simmons Records' increasingly competitive new-to-be-signed artist selection, Seattle rocker Jason Frost has mysteriously posted a message at GeneKlein.com aimed directly at Gene Simmons of the rock band KISS. For those unfamiliar, Gene Klein is KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons' real name which he has not used since High School. Recently Gene has been given the go-ahead from Sanctuary Records Group to revive his record label, Simmons Records. His present search for new artists has ignited a fierce competition among KISS loyalists, fans and musicians worldwide.

Jason Frost is best known for his association with the Seattle grunge movement of the early '90s which included bands such as NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, MARCY PLAYGROUND and others. For the past decade, Jason Frost has remained an underground member of the independent rock artist community. He also served briefly in the U.S. military during those years where he was missing from the music scene. His home on the Internet is JasonFrost.com where more of his music and latest developments can be found. Most recently Jason Frost was involved in a 30-city Hard Rock Café Tour, which was a charitable fundraiser. The tour ended early due to a general lack of finances and a quarter of a million dollars worth of musical equipment being stolen, while on the road. Proceeds and donations from this tour were expected to help feed, house and supply gifts for the homeless and less fortunate this holiday season.

If signed, Jason Frost intends to continue his charitable practices by giving a sizeable portion of all profits and monies gained through his signing and association, of his upcoming album "The Angel Manifesto" with Simmons Records, to select charities and grassroots organizations.

At the website GeneKlein.com, Jason Frost explains that this was done in an attempt to best communicate with Gene Simmons directly (and is not intended to be used in any bad faith). He also states, in his letter online, that he will de-activate and release the domain as soon as his message proposal and request for inclusion under the Simmons Records label has been successfully delivered.

Gene Simmons is best known for his many song hits from the rock band KISS. Simmons is considered to be one of the hardest-working men in show biz, heading many successful new projects (including Gene Simmons Tongue magazine and his latest effort being the resurrection of Simmons Records). Exactly how the blood spitting, fire-breathing, demon faced rock icon record producer reacts to Frost's letter is uncertain, but it's sure to be interesting. It is reported that a copy of the letter to Gene will remain online at Letter2Gene.com for future reference and consideration by Mr. Simmons once the GeneKlein.com domain has been de-activated.

I think they're confusing this guy with Jason Everman, who did play with Soundgarden and Nirvana.

Note to Jason Frost: I don't think broadcasting the fact that you used to be a member of Marcy Playground will win over new fans.

Just a thought.

that song is awful. whoever thought a song full of marginally rhytmically-accurate grunting needs to re-assess his goals. the guy can't sing in tune too well (though maybe he's doing that to seem 'alternative'), the vocal "melodies" are just infantile. yeesh. if this were mass-produced, it might set a record for "fastest trip to cut-out bin".
