Surprise! BILL WARD To Rock With BLACK SABBATH At OZZFEST After All

Drummer Bill Ward will be rejoining his BLACK SABBATH bandmates at this year's Ozzfest after all. The following is Bill's official statement on the matter, as posted on his official web site: "Dear SABBATH People, "I have communicated to Sharon [ Osbourne] that I will accept the proposal of 5/11/04 regarding me playing Ozzfest, and today I received a very positive response from her. At this time, I am taking this response as a move forward. This announcement is for the benefit of all those who these past few days have been so outspoken favouring and supporting me as a member of SABBATH. I personally thank all of you. To All SABBATH People On Earth - Rock & Shine."

That's killer. Although it does suck that $haron strong armed him into accepting whatever tablescraps they offered him to play in his own band. The funny thing is, is that if you know your sabbath history Bill is the one that convinced Tony to let Ozzy try out for the band, so if Bill hadn't had the good sense to recognize talent 35 yrs ago then $haron would be a nobody today. And yet she stiffs him now

Bill Ward is 1/4 of sabbath, I know that sounds stupid, but sabbath are just one of those bands where all members have their individuality, Geezer doesn't play along with Toni's rhythm most of the time, he stands out, Bill's.....I know it isn't off beat, but its the only way I can describe it, off beat (sort of like between beat if you get me) drumming proper kicks (listen to Into The Void. Toni's simple yet beautiful riffs and leads...and then there's Ozzy...

Anyway, my point being that they all don't play one tune together, they play their bits seperatly.
Yeah, I was always pretty shit at explaining things.
Anyway, its great he's playin, I'm sure Mike Bordin is just as happy to have Bill Ward playin for sabbath. It just sucks for me cuz Ozzfest ain't comin to the UK :(

Fucking ripoff!!! The quality of bands is to poor for the high price.Im pissed that Judas Priest didnt do their "own" Headlining tour instead.And as far as Black Sabbath goes,Ozzy's voice is far from good these days.The Dio era Sabbath is far superior to the Ozzy era stuff.

Oh well, Dio's new album will be heavier than anything Sabbath would have released anyway, so us true metalheads can look forward to that.
I hope Tony and Geezer enjoy the embarrassment as Ozzy forgets the lyrics to every other song while acting like a brain-dead vegetable.

Bring it to the UK! We dont get Ozzfest over here, even though its where ozzy and sabbath started, and priest! Its kind of a 'Fuck you' to the bands root's, non of the three (priest, ozzy or black sabbath) have any UK date's scheduled!

BTW, Dio is "heavy"??? Isnt that the Dungeons and Dragons dude, that little twiddly prog dwarf??? The guy who used to be in RAINBOW??? He's about as heavy as my GRANDMA. Yeah, "Heaven and Hell" was pretty good, but LOOK WHO DRUMMED ON THAT.
But then again, what can you expect from a guy who thinks that STRYPER (Styx on cocaine and evangelicism) used to be heavy???

Sabbath always sucked, don't you dare for one second sit there and tell me Metal as we see and know it wouldn't have happened without them, the vast amount of metal bands I listen too weren't influenced by Sabbath at all .

I'd really hate to see Sabbath w/o Ward. As of now, this is looking to be the best Ozzfest in a long time. I saw Sabbath in 01 and was glad all the original members were there. I don't know if I would have stuck around to see em this year with Bordin.

Btw. the Ozzy era Sabbath is what vastly contributed to metal music.If you happen to defy that fact, I suggest revising the music history and having your ears checked.

Hey I love Dio. Rainbow is probably my favourite band ever. However I prefer Ozzy era Sabbath over Dio era (but only just). I do agree though that at the moment Dio is doing a hell of a lot more than Sabbath. Sabbath should stop dicking around with that vegetable brained puppet Ozzy, get a new singer and release an album of NEW MATERIAL. Bill has already said in SEVERAL INTERVIEWS that they have more than enough recorded material to release an album, but Ozzy (or more likely Sharon) is holding them back!! Ozzy has one of the best eerie wails you will ever hear, but he's a fucking wreck and his bitch of a wife has RUINED him at the cost of making money. Sure he's rich and has a TV show, but he will NEVER EVER AGAIN be seen as a god of metal by me. Instead he is a clown for the amusement of children. I'm listening to Under The Sun and I just imagine it's a different Ozzy and he never become a fuckup.

Iommi and Butler should write a whole bunch of material, pick the best stuff, rehearse it with Ward, and then have Ozzy come in and do the vox.
Yeah, Ozzy is mostly braindead, but it doesn't really matter, since he never played a big part in Sabbath songwriting anyway, and he DOES still have that weird, unique voice. As long as he can still read a lyric sheet and/or teleprompter, he's good to go.

Yeah, to say Black Sabbath is a shitty band is plain retarded.
I mean, I at least realize that certain bands (Led Zeppelin for example) are good and influential, but I don't like them. You have to stop being a dumbass and admit talent when talent exists. If you can give one good reason as to why Black Sabbath sucks besides, "They suck," "They blow," "They're boring," or "They're gay" then I might listen to you.

Dude, it's over - get over it. And the "Dio rules Ozzy drools" thing is really old. Can't you come up with anything better? It's fucking stupid - to the surprise of no one. Here in Sabbath land, Dude, you're a beaten man. Go hang out on an After Forever board while the rest of us celebrate the return of the most important band in metal - the original Black Sabbath!!.
Although Ronnie Dio is a legend, if he went back to Sabbath he's have to sing Ozzy Osbourne songs. I doubt he'd be too thrilled about that.
While the idea of a new Sabbath album is intriguing, based on those two new tunes on the Reunion album that might not be such a good idea. But I would love for them to prove me wrong.

Wrong. Two new songs on "Reunion" - although not too great, proof that the above statement of yours is incorrect. Did someone say they were supposed to put out a new album? Who cares? We get to see the original Sabbath - that's well enough for any real Sabbath fan.
Another question - on another thread, you claim that no Sabbath line-up is more imprtant than another. Yet you also say that the Dio-era material is better than the Ozzy-era material. So - all line-ups are equal but one line-up's music is better than another? How can that be? (This should be good).
You also claim the people's desire to see the original line-up is "irrational". How is that? (This, too, should be good)
You're a Monty Python fan. You know that scene where one guy is fighting the knight in black armor? He hacks off both legs and what's left of the knight is still thrashing around yelling "let's 'ave at yer!" - so enraged that his doesn't even realize he's been cut in half and will only lose if he keeps fighting. That's you on these Sabbath threads.
Another question - why does it bother you so much that people like a line-up you don't? Every time this story comes up, you spend an inordinant amout of time trying to tell us why, even though the original line-up is the most popular, another line-up is "better"? Really - what point are you trying to make?
On an unrelated front, I see your little "Inner Circle" now has an "Inner Crcle House Butt-Boy". How....nice. Gee - that wouldn't be your - what is it now - fourth? - fifth? - screen-name would it?
