It's Official: METALLICA Drummer LARS ULRICH, Wife Call It Quits

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has released the following statement via the group's official web site: " Lars and Skylar Ulrich are getting divorced after seven years of marriage. The couple has been quietly separated since March. They will share custody of their two children." Ulrich's statement is believed to have been issued in response to The New York Post article linking the drummer to Danish actress Connie Nielsen. Nielsen ( photos), who played opposite Russell Crowe in "Gladiator", recently split with Huey, the lead singer of one-hit wonders FUN LOVIN' CRIMINALS.

I hate Metallica (the new Metallica) and I don't like Lars. I feel bad for his family. He is not gay if he is dating hot famous women (they wouldn't be his cover-up, they have other famous hot men to date). Therefore, even though Lars in not on my COOL list, I must say he is not gay and he is in a pretty cool situation with a hot babe. Peace it.

Who cares about lars or his wife...His wife is a doctor so she is fine by herself..and lars is mega rich
In all divorce, the kids suffer...I am happy they have worked out the child custody out of court..and not have a bitter child custody dispute..
You guys have no clue how some child custody battle turns so bad that the spouse starts accusing each other of abuse or take the kids to therapist who tell kids to claim that their father abused them..e.t.c..In these cases the kids end up being mentally disturbed...

But each day there is hundreds of divorces , resulting in families thrown apart and sometimes, lives are destroyed. Its a society fact. I personnally dont feel sorry for lars who's been an asshole for a big part of his life and wouldn't be suprised if id learned he was the cause behing the break up. Anyways, lars will end up keeping a lot of money so will his wife. Id feel a little bit more sorry for the couples with an overall salary of $20000 a year and with children to raise than the ''poor'' lars who buys $6000000 houses.

Divorce sucks for the kids. I know. A friend of mine lost his children to his ex and nearly half of his pay. Finding out that your spouse is cheating on you with some dude she found on an internet message board (much like this one) is kind of unsettling. In fact, it makes a person crazy. Insane. Not right in the head. Homicidal.
Fortunately for these children - as azagothoth78 pointed out - there's plenty o' money to keep these children preoccupied.

I personally listen to about 60% blackmetal, 10% deathmetal, 10% prog-metal, 20% jazz....
4 out of 5 blackmetal bands have shitty production, on purpose!....whenever they put out an album with GOOD production, fans get pissed!!!!
Deathmetal have fairly good production
progmetal is usually always great
all the jazz i listen to is pre 70's
METALLICA puts out a cd with shitty production, fans are pissed!!!
I think, and they may have alreay said this i don't know, they did not give a fuck what people thought about them, in all honesty that takes a lot of balls to take such a risk, I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT THE GARBAGE CANS THOUGH!!!
funny thing is if they had been a blackmetal band and done this production, NO ONE WOULD HAVE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
LISTEN TO DARKTHRONE if you think i am joking about production. They usually take less than 3 days to record, mix, and master a cd. THEY don't give a fuck if anybody likes them or not, people still buy the cd's every year when one comes out.
I still do not like St. Anger or the double "loads",... just to be clear on this.

Getting to the actual story... I laughed my ass off when I found out that Skylar was THE Skylar, from Good Will Hunting (of course her character was played by Minnie Driver, but fuck it). And for the record, she's pretty hot, too. Just goes to show all the hot chicks aren't supermodels... but for some reason the rock stars still go to the supermodels. And as far as the kids are concerned... I'm sure they'll end up with a better father than Lars. Great businessman, mediocre drummer, but not someone I would envision as a good father. Hell, I'd pick James as a better father over Lars.
But then, and this is for you, puppet, they're both gay, so the whole argument is moot.

Without James and Mustaine writing most of the early stuff, his ass would've never gotten anywhere in a band, anyway. And before I hear the argument AGAIN from the Metallica groupies, no I haven't written Puppets (I love the album). But then again, for the past 18 years, those out of control egomaniacal sons of bitches haven't either. "The sound of millionaires slumming". I think that quote from a review of St. Anger says it all, not about the album necessarily, but about them.
People, I grew up loving Kiss and Metallica but COME ON!!!!!!!!!! You can't tell me that you don't think they haven't deserved some of the flack they've caught over the past 8 or 9 years. I'm not a big fan of Kerry King as a person but at least he's stayed true to what he does musically over the years and hasn't tried to milk every bit of camera time he can doing the most ridiculous marketing stunts and promotional crap he can. Fuck, people. Calm down. For better or worse, it's still a free country. People wanna bash the dink sitting on the official Metallica's drum stool? They can. Just don't read it.

He's a horrible drummer!!! What professionals say hes a great drummer. Metallica USE to be a good band, but that doesn't mean lars can play decent beats. If you want a real drummer listen to MIKE PORTNOY, or the new EXODUS, or OVERKILL.
And all you people sticking up for him will say o you don't know shit, well fuck you i've been drumming since i was nine and at the age of 14 was playing at UW Milwaukee in the jazz band, so i think i know a thing or two about drumming.

well, I gotta say I don't think lars is 'gay' or that he's a 'shit drummer'. Of course being in a jazz band makes you the supreme expert on drumming zeppelin. Also, keep up the good work puppet, it's quite hilarious reading this entire thread.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Lars, James, Kirk, and Rob. Lars has an awesome personality, a great sense of humor, and is a lot of fun to be around.
Divorce is never easy and I sure it has been difficult for him to deal with being on tour. I wish Lars and his family the best.

first off, assholes, Skylar will not get half of his money... but she will get half of everything earned during their 7 years together... do you know why? Because she's entitled to it. She was one half the partnership, she is a doctor, (hello, that takes brains and determination, not luck, like becoming famous. Lots of talented musicians never become rich or famous). He gets half the money they earned over 7 years because HE'S entitled to it. Stop saying it's all his money. The moment a rich person marry's someone, they have to know they are taking a risk. If he loved her enough to marry her and have kids with her, then when it ends, they have to split what they made while together. Marriage is a deal, a business deal, as well as an emotional deal. I feel really sorry for the kids. With all that therapy he had going with the band, you'd think he would do the same for the sake of the kids. I hear he's real cheap, probably couldn't get the record company to pay for it...

Skylar Ulrich (formerly Satenstein) will be ok in terms of $. Not only will she probably take the midget to the cleaners, but she has a large trust fund from her late father. He was a well-known, successful TV director/producer (most famous for heading up Jackie Gleason's TV show "The Honeymooners"). Skylar is also a physician, as is well known, although the troll didn't let her finish her residency, so she can't really practice in any specialty. We love you Skylar...stay strong.
