H.I.M. Sign With SIRE RECORDS - Sep. 9, 2004
Following several months of negotiations, Finnish goth-metallers H.I.M. have confirmed that they have signed an exclusive worldwide recording contract with Sire Records. The agreement covers four successive releases and an option for fifth, and includes not only Europe but also the U.S., Japan and Australia.

Sire Records, part of the Warner Music Group, is one of the most legendary American labels and the original home of THE RAMONES, TALKING HEADS and MADONNA.

The Sire deal, which was announced by Sire Records founder Seymour Stein and President Michael Goldstone, does not include Finland, where future H.I.M. records will be released on the band's own Heartagram label.

Commenting on the signing, Seymour Stein remarked, "Bringing H.I.M. to Sire Records is one of the most exciting events since the re-launch of the label. The fact that they picked Sire for international distribution is a tremendous coup for us and one that underscores the label’s reputation as a magnet for great music."

"H.I.M. has forged its own unique culture and devout following and is a perfect match for Sire," added Goldstone. "We feel privileged to be collaborating with H.I.M. on their future musical endeavors and welcome them to the Sire family."

H.I.M. singer/main songwriter Ville Valo has been working on new material over the summer and the band hope to start producing their next album in January or February.

Later this year, H.I.M. will be touring the U.K. and the U.S. Support on the U.K. dates will come from CATHEDRAL, while the opening bands in the U.S. will be MELISSA AUF DER MAUR (ex-HOLE, SMASHING PUMPKINS) and MONSTER MAGNET. Exact cities and dates for the U.S. tour will be announced shortly.

It's about goddamn time they start to get some recognition in the US, let alone the world. Anyone who says that HIM are gay are just homophobes themselves, and those who are homophobic tend to be gay anyway. Besides, they're jealous cuz Ville gets more pussy than a Chinese buffet.

HIM has some cool songs but damn when they want to flame it up they do it damn good. Love there heavier songs. This band is so hit and miss on each song for me.

it makes me sick. All I hear from 15 year old "goths" is how much HIM and AFI rock....fuck the fuck off. I asked a mall goth which Joy Division album was her favorite (mine being Closer) and she said "who?"...fuck the fuck off. I gave HIM a chance until about 30 seconds in I damn near fell asleep.....they cover Chris Isaak for fuck's sakes!

Joy Division? um.....WHAT???? I love everyone who bashes other bands here who bitch, moan and complain about "teeny bopper music" (or whatever) in the malls and on mtv. My question to you is why are you shopping in the malls and watching mtv if you hate it so much? Hey October, go check out the video for "wicked game" and tell me how much you hate it. Then again you probably hate his music too cause he has talent. Teeny bopper!!!

BUT i have to pass by the hot topic and i see all the little wannabee metal gay asses in there listening to HIM and listening to KOrn still.. and im wearing my CRYPTOPSY shirt and tehy have no clue who that is. there just playin circlejerk and i see the him shirt in the window, so thats why im at the mall... and i also go to the videogame store...dont care if you play videogames or not, but i do... and as for mtv... its just there gotta pass by it when flipping to comedy central

What the fuck is wrong with Hot Topic?! I only use half the store though... the part with all the metal and vintage style T-shirts... the other stuff... like the big ass pants with straps and the Nightmare Before Christmas watches... I'm not a big fan of. I shop there quite a bit for the T-shirts. I also get some of my belts there. I wore studded belts before all the posers started to... why should I stop because it is now trendy. Actually, since the late 70's, studded belts and spikes have NEVER gone out of style... so I don't know why the fuck people think they are all the sudden trendy.

Your name fucking says it all. You must be the dumbest shit i've ever seen on here. You lose all your dignity about...here- 'how can anyone be goth. its a type of architecture' No, gothic is the dark side of the human mind. Yeah HIM have been around for 'like' 10 years, but nobody apart from whatever country their from gave a shit about them, therefore, they were hardly a craze. HIM fucking make me sick. How many fucking times can they overuse a riff. Buried alive by love, which is horribly shit, the riff completely rips off Fuel by metallica. They've got this fat dickhead of a drummer who stole my motorhead bastards tshirt. The singer is the biggest pile of shit, live he could fucking bore you to death. HIM really fucking suck. On whatever wavelength you look at them- they suck. In attempt to try and be goth, they fail (not that im goth or anything). In attempt to make good, interesting music that doesnt sound like its all just mixed together in a sludgey kinda noise, they fail. Anyway im fucking bored

I think they're the weakest of the other Finnish goth rock bands. Not that they really are goth rock, at least not in the Bauhaus sense anyway. Sentenced and 69 Eyes are much better. Out of HIM and the darkwave nonsense that makes up the majority of goth sub-culture these days though, I'd take HIM anyday. It's sad though that the 15 year olds these days who listen to HIM don't even know who The Mission are though (they'd probably like them too). 15 year old naivety always overexposes bands and makes them annoying.

I found this site looking for Cathedral tour dates. Having been around since Cathedral first came on the scene, having to watch them 'support' this teenybopping manufactured crap will take a few vodkas or twenty. Am i glad I'm not fifteen anymore if this is whats on offer. One look at the picture of H.I.M was enough don't even have to hear them to get a good idea of their oh so original sound I'm sure.
