RAMMSTEIN: 'Amerika' Video To Be Shown On 'Headbanger's Ball' - Oct. 1, 2004
German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN will release their fourth studio album, "Reise Reise", in the U.S. on November 16. The album's first domestic single, the bilingual "Amerika", will go into rotation on MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball" Oct. 2, while import single "Mein Teil" has already shown up on the "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" soundtrack as well as on Fuse's "Uranium".

Recorded primarily in Spain (El Cortijo Studio, Malaga), "Reise Reise" (translated as "Voyage, Voyage" or "Journey, Journey") is an album of firsts for RAMMSTEIN: the first time the group have worked on songs to which they weren't completely committed prior to entering the studio; the first time they've recorded a track with a stand-out English chorus (single/video "Amerika") or as stripped-to-the-groove acoustic as "Los" ("Let's Go"), but most of all: the first time in a long time the recording vibe could genuinely be called relaxed. "Fun" even.

Which is not to say that fans of the signature RAMMSTEIN sound defined on the previous "Herzeleid" (1995), "Sehnsucht" (1998) and "Mutter" (2001) won't find plenty of familiar touchstones. Produced by Jacob Hellner, who has been integral to the band's studio work since day one), the admittedly experimental "Reise, Reise" also features abundant raw power in the form of "Stein Um Stein", "Moskau" and first overseas single "Mein Teil", a No. 2 hit this summer from Germany to Spain — and the true tale of Armin Meiwes, a 42-year-old computer expert from Rotenburg, Central Germany who advertised on the internet for someone to eat and eventually found a willing "dinner companion" in 43-year-old Berliner, Bernd Juergen Brandes. An appropriately disturbing clip has already seen rotation here in the U.S. on the Fuse network.

By way of contrast, "Reise, Reise"'s first U.S. single "Amerika" showcases a much lighter side of the RAMMSTEIN psyche, while addressing much more universal subject matter. Directed by Jorn Heitmann (who helmed 2001's "Ich Will" and "Sonne" clips), "Amerika" is a tongue-in-cheek affair, in which U.S. globalization and imperialism is portrayed by RAMMSTEIN members on a moon landing that turns out to be a staged video production, juxtaposed with footage of indigenous third world cultures chanting along with the "We're all living in Amerika" chorus — the ideal tone for a song that successfully rhymes wunderbar with wonderbra. Alternately provocative and humorous, "Amerika" offers a fascinating outside perspective on U.S. commercial and governmental policy.

RAMMSTEIN's upcoming tour begins November 1 in Mannheim, Germany and includes three nights at Berlin's Velodrom, as well as arena dates in Moscow, Prague, Barcelona and Helsinki. U.S. dates should follow in 2005.

A RAMMSTEIN player featuring the song "Amerika" can be accessed at this location.

Rammstein have pretyy much played the same shit every album...but so did AC/DC.. and they are one of the best rock acts of all time...but this album is a little more diverse and has more melody and he actually is singing better and improving his vocals.
I personally love this album...and will buying it as soon as its out

Oh really, then please explain where exactly in Sonne there is a penis involved?

It's a song about the Sun, not your favorite body part.

Cool song, even if the band is weird as all hell on the rampage.

Then again, weirdness was never a crime...oh yeah, we did burn and hang witches at one time...

My bad, weirdness is a crime, especially in Amerika today, the defender of De"mock"racy. Buy this and be cool, conform or be cast out.

Still, they're a pretty interesting band.

maybe it can give some people an idea of how we're really are. we see ourselves as a peaceful country and we could do no wrong. every other country sees us as an aggressive country that's trying to get everything it's own way.

before this blows up into some big disscussion about the war or whatever, i'll just end my statement right there and so no more. i think we've all grown a little weary over the constant disscussion of the war and who should be president.

Amerika isnt anti-american, it just points out things the way they are. It's just saying that American culture has seeped into every other culture in the world (which is true).

first amerika is the german spelling of america. Plus ever since america started putting their two cents on world issue people protesting what we are doing has become a world issue. they ahve every right to say what they want about our country. Also why is it that american have to be compeating against one another and not united. I love america i would never leave, but that dosent mean it can't ever get better then what it is. an i have a right to say that it should get better.

and as far as the singer goes, yes he is one tough motherfucker. his unique headbanging style totally owns all you Rammstein-haters' asses. I don't know where he got it from but it looks so fuckin cool man.
