Report: Gunman Tried To Talk To DAMAGEPLAN Bandmembers Before Show

The gunman who fatally shot four people — including DAMAGEPLAN (and former PANTERA) guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott — at Columbus, Ohio's Alrosa Villa nightclub Wednesday night alarmed the club's workers before the gig, according to RollingStone.com. "He was hanging around trying to get in," manager Rick Cantella said. "We told him . . . that he had to pay to get in like anyone else. One of my loaders told him to leave . . . He was hanging around trying to talk to the members of the band, and he was shooed away." Just before the show, Nathan Gale, 25, jumped an eight-foot fence to get inside, and headed straight for the stage. "There were guys chasing him as soon as he got in," explained Cantella, "not because [they saw] he had a gun, but because he jumped this fence and didn't pay." During the gunfire, a local nurse in the audience, twenty-eight-year-old Mindy Reece, stepped in to aid Abbott. "The one thing that stands out in my mind was I could see Vinnie [ Paul] stand up from behind the drums and look down...He had this look on his face like, 'Oh my fucking God.'" said Reece, a PANTERA fan since the age of thirteen. With the help of another audience member, she performed CPR on Abbott for several minutes until the paramedics arrived. "I kept saying, ' Dimebag, come on, come on please, stay with me,'" she recalls. "It was bad . . . There was blood on the floor." Read more.

I have been listening to these guys since I was about 12. There has never been a song that Dime has played and not played to the extreme. I have been BLASTING cowboys from hell all day, especially cemetary gates.
May god have mercy on Dime's soul and supply him with all the right equipment for him to continue to rock-ass in heaven.

Ebay did the right thing and pulled the auction for the shirt w/ bullet holes put up by some sick bastard. It was up to 20 million but when I clicked back it just got pulled. Hopefully, Dime will rest a tiny bit easier.

You will be missed and NEVER forgotten. I've been sitting here listening to ALL the Pantera records in shuffle rotation all day, watching Vulgar Video laughing my ass off at how crazy and fun you were. Not to mention how much all four of you were so brotherly and entertaining on and off stage.
(I type this as Planet Caravan comes out of my speakers and can't help but to cry.)
Dimebag is the last metal legend from Texas to fall but his memory will resonate in all of us in the metal community for the rest of our lives. We will all one day tell our children and grandchildren about the great musician and person Dime was.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Vinnie and their family as well as the families of those who also perished in this senseless act of ignorance and to those who had to witness such a catastrophic event.

Lots of people are bashing Phil and Rex for things they've said in the past. But if you think about it, you all know how it feels / would feel if someone you talked shit about and were pissed off at ends up dying unexpectedly. In reality, Phil and Rex are probably one of the most mournful people in regards to this tragedy, besides Vinnie and family. You can talk shit and hate someone that you were once best friends with, but deep down inside, you still love 'em no matter what.
Rest In Peace Darrell and other victims. Rot in Hell Nathan Gale.

this band was a part of my life for a long time and this piece of shit dickless fuck took it away I am glad the cops shot this fuck!!
This band helped me through alot of shit and Damageplan was another awesome piece of metal and now it is no more!

Dimebag Darrell Abbott was a metal god and I know for sure that he's either kicking Nathan Hales ass in hell, or bringing hell to heaven right now. But at the moment, my deepest simpathies go out to Vinnie Paul who has been in bands with his brother Dimebag for over 12 years. Vinnie lost Dimebagwho was not only his brother but most likely his best friend, in seconds without even being able to say goodbye. So this one's for Vinnie...stay strong brother, we will all be united with Dimebag one day in the underworld.
