BLACK SABBATH, KISS Legends Pay Tribute To DIMEBAG DARRELL

BLACK SABBATH legend Tony Iommi, plus KISS principals Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have issued separate statement regarding the death of DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell:
Tony Iommi: "I was absolutely shocked by the news. Dimebag was such a really nice genuine bloke and a great player. He was always very respectful towards me and it was lovely to have him on tour with us. He will be sadly missed."
Paul Stanley: "I'm stunned. The taking of Dimebag Darrell's life in this horrific murder is a senseless tragedy for his fans and unfathomable loss for his family. I send my deepest condolences to Vinnie and the rest of his family. My thoughts are also with the families of all the other victims of this heinous act."
Gene Simmons: "Sad to report 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, formerly of PANTERA, has been killed in a club incident. Our best wishes to his family and friends."

Dam, I am totally freaked about this whole situation. As others are saying, Dimebag was equal to the Eddie Van Halen or Malmsteen of his time.
I can remember back when I first heard Cowboys from Hell. It was back when Rap and Dance was really getting alot of push. My band, Fallon, was in Reno, NV recording our first CD. We went to a club and met some other metalheads. They told us about Pantera and we went out to their car and listened to it.
My guitarists totally fell in love with Dimebags powerful tone and style. Pantera became the bands favorite band at that point.
We have all lost in this situation. Lets all have a drink this weekend in his memory if you haven't done so already. Hell! Have another!
What a crazy and fucked up way to go...So extreme, like Dimebag himself. REST IN PEACH METAL BROTHER!

He is now a true metal God, the day I die, I will shake his hand and congratulate him on being THE greatest metal guitarist to roam my ears.

man its been what, over 36 hours and i still can't get this tragedy outta my head. i was in my college cafeteria this morning and heard the 911 calls for the 1st time while eating my lunch. i promptly lost my fuckin' appetite, saddening shit to hear. nearly got teary-eyed for the thousandth time it seems like.
why is it the best of us are always the ones who are taken much too soon? why? WHY???!!!!?????

If Dimebag were still with us he'd probably say something like:

I know alot of you guys and gals are younger than myself but this tragedy also reminds me of when Randy Rhoads died, as I was fortunate to see him play just months before his accident. I also saw Dimebag last month and he stole the show.......what an amazing guitar player and an even better person.

I was 17 years old when I 1st had the honor of hearing Pantera, at a high school party in Durham, Connecticut. Out of nowhere this mezmorizing, undeniably brutal riff began blasting through the home stereo system. It was "By Demons Be Driven", and I was absolutley stunned and stopped in my tracks by what I was hearing!! As a matter of fact, I almost dropped my beer on the floor, ha,ha,ha! As I listened to the song unfold and all the band members layering their parts, It was at that very moment that I realized that I wanted to weild the power and passion through my guitar that Dime was able to transduce through his! From that day forward I vowed to myself that I will one day be able to write riffs that carried people like the ones that Dime wrote. Riffs like the ones in: "A New Level," "Becoming," "This Love," "Domination," "Slaughtered", ect.. I had the priviledge of meeting Dime once, and it will always be one of the most remembered days of my life. Darrell has given me a gift that very few people get in this world.... He gave me a vision!!! He opened the door for me to see and hear past the normalcy of most music, and for that I am forever greatful! Thank you for being the baddest motherfucker to ever play the guitar!!!!!!!!!!!
