DAVE MUSTAINE Apologizes To METALLICA, Promises To Be More Like DIMEBAG
- Dec. 11, 2004
|
|
|
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message on the group's official message board:
"Droogies!
"Tonight I had the honor and priveledge to host a special [MTV2 'Headbanger's Ball'] tribute to the life of Darrel 'Dimebag' Abbott.
"I went out to NYC Thursday at 9:30 PM on a redeye to do this, and during the period since then, I have had a good amount of time to reflect on my own life.
"I realized how fortunate I am, and have been to have met some of you, and in some cases become friends with many of you.
"What is bothering me is the people who I have not been able to meet, or worse, have met and ended up not being friends with. There are many.
"I would like to, in honor of Darrel's life, learn from him and how many friends he apparently had made.
"Over my career I have a lot of cleaning up to do on my side of the street as well as letting things go, for once and for all; I need to apologize to many people and also to forgive and quit holding grudges.
"Having said that, if there is something I did to you or someone you know, please give me the opportunity to make this right.
"To SLAYER and METALLICA: I am sorry for whatever I may have done in the past and wish to make it right, to put it behind us. Please let me know how and when we can talk this out.
"To previous bandmembers and managers: I say the same to you.
"To all the MEGADETH/METALLICA fans: from this day forward, there will never be another unkind word from my mouth perpetuating this silly 22-year-old feud.
"And to heavy metal fans around the world: I am going to emulate Dimebag by being more like him; more friendly, and more interested in your lives too, I promise.
"I am grateful to have been asked to come in this hour of darkness to represent us all as we come together and heal as a worldwide music community, and I would be a fraud if I didn't say I need to do more to better represent.
"Thank you in advance for your forgiveness and for your support."

What a fuckin' incredible thing to do! This is the kind of positive effect that NEEDS to result from this tragedy. The best way to get revenge on Nathan Gale is to unite as a tight-knit community across the entire metal/hard-rock spectrum, like we never have before. That way, Gale can look up from hell and see that his selfish act didn't divide us after all, but only served to produce love and brotherhood among those who remain. Way to go, Dave!

an allout apology from dave to MetallicA and Slayer! I hope this just isn't an emotional kneejerk reaction and is truly sincere.
I went to the Vehemence concert here in Phoenix last night and one of the bands, Motive, covered "Fucking Hostile". It was beautiful. The lead singer admitted he didn't know all the words but he had a lyric sheet and did a pretty decent job. Their guitar player nailed the solo pretty fucking good...obviously it wasn't "Dime" level but admirable nonetheless. Nathan from Vehemence helped with the vocals and everyone sang along. It was a very cool moment.

Somehow, this doesn't entirely surprise me, and i'd love to see Dave stick to it.
I think everyone has to agree, the feuding had reached a boiling point. It was just too much. I used to put 'peace & metal' as my signature, and I stopped because it didn't seem like there was much point to it. Well, there's a point after all. Words are just words, you can always say you're sorry, it's whether or not you mean it what matters. Just imagine the musical possibilities, and acts of greatness, after a few true apologies are made.
Everything has changed for us. We can either move forward and face the future together, or be left behind. I'm not being left behind, i've decided. Major props to Dave Mustaine. Let's roll with this...
Peace & Metal, Everyone.

Well said, man. I hope that anyone who knows of these tragic circumstances can learn something and grow as a person because of it. I hope Dave is sincere about his words and I don't doubt that he is. This incident shook up more than just the Metal Community and there is no reason for Dime's death to be in vain. Is it really that hard to be a little nicer or appreciative?? I know I'm gonna try.

That was very mature and heartfelt it seems. Attitudes like the ones described by Dave are nothing but destructive. They keep bands from touring together and cause breakups......one in particular comes to mind. There is no fault to throw around here pertaining to the aforementioned breakup, but things may have been much different. We all know that there were so many things left unsaid between them. But who would have thought someone would want to do this to someone as beloved as Dime. This man stole and destroyed a piece of our personal lives, mine anyway. Of course I have my memories, but it felt good to know that he was around at all with Pantera or no. Kicking ass around the world championing our way of life. Metal music is extremely important to me and since he was from the same state as me, it was that much cooler. I have held my grief at bay since Wednesday night, through no will of my own, but rather from shock and utter dismay at this whole sorry ordeal. It seemed surreal, like one of those nightmares you wake up from and feel funny from all day because you can't pry certain details out of your head, if you can remember at all. I finally fell apart this morning after I woke up and a period of calm set in. The work week was through for me and I had time to try to piece all of this together. Then another thought hit me. I took his existence and music completely for granted. I figured him to be around forever, you know? Man, this is metal I thought to myself, nobody is supposed to die, not this way. I can't hardly sit still for wanting to do something about all this. Where's the fuckin' rewind button, man? ............................. I hold these guys in such high regard, the orchestrators of metal I mean. These guys create music. A universal language, there is no other art, or craft that can bridge anyone or anything. Go to Japan and blast Pantera in the street, someone will recognize who they are. I have noone where I live to share my grief with, friends or otherwise. Everyone else does the mainstream thing, that's why I am here pouring out my thoughts. I'll share a few memories with anyone willing to give a listen, and I promise I will extend any of you the same courtesy. Hold your heads high, put a fist in the air, for we ain't about to die out yet.

Let's get one thing straight, I'm not a Dave hater. I'm actually a fan of his music. People can change but it's very rare, especially at Dave's age. The truth of the matter is that people rarely change even when they want to because it's against their nature. I've known and been around enough people in my time to know this. You can think whatever you like. That's your right. Just don't feel sorry for me because I've become jaded through my experience. I am who I am and don't regret a thing.

I think it's great to hear these words from Dave. Time to bury the petty bullshit from the past in your backyard. Time should heal all wounds.
I can't imagine a bigger event than a Slayer / Megadeth / Metallica tour. If we thought the cops were lookin' to harrass people who went to Ozzfest this summer, that tour would break records.

let's not go overboard. Dave apologizing to Metallica and Slayer does not mean the possibility of a Megadeth/Slayer/Metallica tour. The egos involved are way too huge, and besides Megadeth is done after this tour. I'm willing to bet that if Kerry King responds to this, chances are that it will be some sort of "Fuck Dave"-type statement.
Its funny the way that some of you guys get carried away in these little fantasies. Dave Mustaine offers to bury the hatchet with Metallica and Megadeth, and some of you start planning "Clash of the Titans II".

In times like this people come together. It's good that Dave Mustaine is making the attempt. I hope it's well recieved. Though I'm not a fan of Dave, because of how cocky he is, I really do hope he changes his ways.
Stick together Metal heads, and watch out not only for those you know, but those you don't know. You never know when your number is up or your time is done. I hope to never hear about anything this horrific or experience anything as devastating to the metal community as long as I live...

Remember the old "metal militia"?
Early Metallica always had an aftershow party after great performances. Who knows, the "smug" attitude of the former lead guitarist of Metallica may change due to this devastating tragedy in the Metal Community.
Maestro Abbott's death was a lesson for both the performers and the Mosh Pit. For security reasons, we must become a milita again.

for taking the high road and wanting to make peace with the other members of the Big Four... I commend you so much for this and I myself would really love to see an end to the pissing and moaning that has gone on between y'alls. Life is TOO FUCKING SHORT to bitch wine and complain about who said this and who done that. I have faith that the General can pull this off; sadly I have my doubts when it comes to Kerry King, but this is one time I wouldn't mind eating my words...
And no, let's not have a Metallica/Megadeth/Slayer 2005 tour. Not necessary. Make your peace, be brothers of metal as Dime would wish you's to be, and respect one another in the name of the music we love and in Dime's honour. And Dave.... if by some crazy, wild chance you are reading this... do not disband 'Deth after this tour. THE METAL WORLD NEEDS MEGADETH MORE THAN EVER. Who gives a rat's ass or a flying fuck if this record sold more or less than the last record? Screw that I say.
Metal props to you, Dave. Megadeth and yourself are already legends and anyone who denys that and thinks they know their mettal don't know Jack Shit.
RIP Dime. You will always be remembered and never forgotten. \m/

There is no other guitarist on earth that could have died(as far as heavy metal goes) that would have got the hard rockers and the metallers attenion & support like this... I mean the guy was hard core as it gets - There is not a bad word to say about him. You cant call him a pussy cause he kicked ass, & you cant call him a sell-out.
I mean, maybe if like Slash died I guess = He is well liked as well!
Maybe (if there is a God) he did this to bring the community together or something !? All the hard rock / metal bands were getting into fight like hip-hop people do.
We are not fucking rappers here in the hard rock metal world!!!!
God might have slapped some sense into us?!?!
Plus - I still think God is making a heavy metal band in heaven and needed a bad ass guitarist and Dime had to go fill the void.

Dave Mustaine has shown that he is a "real man" with this statement. Dimebags death has shown me not to hold grudges because life can end any time. I was a bit pissed about MTV2 only dedicating half the show, but it's better than nothing. I'm proud to say I'm a metal head because of the way we've banded together during this time. If I'm rambiling it's because I've had a few. God bless Dimes family and friends. And all of you motherfuckers that read this.

Thanks for the compliment, it means alot.
Ignore the flaming, bashing trash. The more we reply to the worthless, the more power it gives them that they don't deserve. Leave them to their nothingness, and let's just keep these feelings of pride going for as long as we're able.

I always knew that Dave Mustaine was the man, but he's undoubtly solidified it with everyone. Dave really is the fucking man.
As far as Dime goes? I lost my hero on 12/8/04, and I'm still celebrating/mourning. Watching the "3: Watch It Go!" video brings a smile to my face (for the life that Dime lived), yet breaks my heart to know that PanterA will never get together again.
Does anyone notice that Dimebag has pulled a prank, even with death? Just think about it: until now, when have you ever seen the word DIMEBAG in the newspaper, on television, on the news, and/or any other media publication/coverage? That fucking Darrell man, still pulling pranks even with death! Even the thought of Darrell getting the word DIMEBAG in to the media press is definately something to laugh at, and a last thing to be able to thank Darrell for: getting the word DIMEBAG in the press.

He understood the roots of metal when all the other dumb fucks forgot. We need to raise the metal banner higher than ever before in Dimebag's honor. R.I.P. Dimebag

Someone posted part of this statement on the KNAC message boards as if it were his own genuine apology conveniently leaving out the parts about putting the past grievances with Slayer and Metallica behind him. Was that actually Dave posting on the boards earlier?
Either way, this was humble and right of Dave to say this however contrived it may seem to appear at first. Hopefully actions speak louder than words on Mustaine's part.

When did I miss this?!? Superdave apoligize! It almost seems that Nathan Gale started something he did not expect, unity. Statements like Mustain's, all the other artists and all the posters on this board and others HAVE to keep up the momentum of unity and strength. I was in a record store today and ended up talking to some gothic metal kids about this and we all bonded on Dime's passing, some of them were buying Pantera for the first time. Normally I am more "old school" and don't associated with multi peirced goth types but after talking we found alot of common ground on music. Screw outsiders who judge us on our looks or music, and shame on us that do the same to others - in the end metal is metal despite genres or subgenres. Playing Planet Caravan now. After Mustaine, I cannot wait to hear from Phil, but give him time and space, I have a friend who passed several months ago in a violent manner and that is still hard to deal with never seeing him again.

The words expressed buy Dave who I must say is also a legend in his own time are so important to us all. The tragedy of dimebags death will make us all stronger and even more dedicated towards this music. I know Vie said it and heard many others say that heavy metal fans are the most dedicated. Well let’s show this world that we are what we say we are for dimes sake if nothing else. To me dime showed the world what a heavy metal fan can be. We should all like Dave said try and be more like him. We need to learn from this. Because if we don’t learn anything from this Dimebags murder will have been even more senseless and tragic.

I was never a Pantera fan. But I will get a sticker(A tribute one for my van) with Dime on it- In honor of the fallen metal god.

and couragous of Mustaine. Stuff like this will only make one stronger, better and more at peace with your self and it reflects as others see you. Admitting your own mistakes is hard but it does make you stronger and wiser. Remember to know your self is to know God. I know I have come here on Blabbermoutth and aded my oown nasty posts myself I guesss just to get a rise or laughs even but inside I know I do truly respect alot of the artists I often make fun of here (sometimes they do deserve it to bring them off their high horses) but Metal definitely neeeds a role model that shows a bit more than the devil horns and the rock image, we need more role models like Dave who are big enough to change and tell ppl that its cool and better when you do. Good for you Dave Mustaine

Religious beliefs= and pickin on Dave for this...
The way I view that type stuff is my fav. album of all time is called "Shout at the Devil"! and the album had a hugh pentagram on the cover;-) and I love movies about Satan and I love music with all the devil stuff going on , but!
I dont cuss or down God or Jesus. I loved the Mel Gibson movie "The Passion" it was awesome.
I am not into the same God as the 80 year old lady that lives next door to me but one day you may be on your death bed or someone you love may be, and you may wake up when you are older and realize. What will it hurt to believe ?! If you want to still seem cool and bad just dont tell your friends;-)
Like Manson said: "I never really hated the one true God- but the God of the people I hated" Now where was I !??! ;-) Sorry if I got off track .

I have to say it, I know I have been stressing "unity" in my posts but is fucking amazing to see it. I have read that Dime's murder is the 9-11 of our scene and Dime is metals TuPac, but it is alot more than that. When TuPac was gunned down there was a coming togeher in the rap community but at the same time there was a reignition of the West vs East coast feud. I am dumfounded that there is none of that here or anywhere else- with the exeption of a few new posters who have been trying to get a rise out of everybody and come to fin out they are for the most part interlopers that do not belong here. I agree with T-Boner, I am not a big Pantera fan and have taken my shots at them in the past (although they are a guilty closet pleasure) but I realize what their status in the metal community. If someone like Dave can come down to earth we all can. It is really good to see some positivity on these boards for a change.

My son wanted to say "thank you" to Dime for the wonderful example he set, not just in his playing, but in his everyday life. I don't mean the partying and rowdiness, necessarily, although all those things were part of what made him so special. I'm referring more to the little seen, not often known, things that he did ... like taking the time to make sure his fans knew how much HE cared about THEM. Like going out of his way for friends and strangers alike. Like making everyone he met feel like a friend.
The world, as a whole, and not JUST the metal community, lost a GREAT HUMAN BEING with his passing. I think it would be very cool if, in his honor, everyone who wanted to pay their respect to Dimebag Darrell Abbott performed one random act of kindness. Can you imagine how many lives THAT could change??? Look at all the tributes to the man, here and on other sites. Just perform ONE random act of kindness in his memory, and you could participate in one of the hugest POSITIVE movements this world has ever seen!
R.I.P. Darrell Lance Abbott, you were a PRINCE among men!

I realise that Dave making comments like this might cause a great many people to be skeptical of him at this moment....only thing I can say however, is that Dave apparently had told some friends and fans on this recent tour (from what I was told) that he already felt like he was regretting how much trash talking he'd done recently about Metallica in the press and in public, and that he really wanted to rise above that shit. I think Dave struggles with alot of inner demons, ones that have been plaguing him for many many years, and sometimes that shitty side still gets the best of him. I'm not making excuses for him, but I do hope that maybe it's true that incidents like this will be what helps him get over all of the bullshit from the past 20+ years like he said, and he can just focus on being a great musician (which I think he is) and being a more focused person overall than can finally be at peace with himself. Good luck, Dave.

about all these tributes to dimebag don't get me wrong he was a great guitarist, even though the circumstances of his death was very heinous and completely below the bottom, no offence but this was probably the way he would've wanted to die, with a guitar in his hands and headbangin' either that or getting completely wasted, from what i've heard he was a down to earth and a happy person, we should all be thankful about what he has contributed to the world of music and the world itself,

I respect other people's taste, and actually like some bands that you like, but it seemed to me like you wanted to IMPOSE your musical taste upon others, as "the best". Well i was wrong. After reading your posts on here, my opinion about you has changed, it seems like you're a good person. Respect. And respect to Dave Mustaine, i love Megadeth's music but couldn't stand him. Now i respect him even though i seem to disagree with some stuff he says....but who cares. We're Human, we have different Ideas....this doesn't mean we should disrespect each other. Nobody cares for what you have to say. Don't be hatin' on Dave, you little bitch. He is a (Metal) God, and you're (and other jackasses) just tryin' to taint his Legacy. Just because he's a legendary champion of Justice, and who He is, and not a total right-wing fuckwit-loser like you, doesn't make him any lesser of being just that; A Legend. Many know the Truth about him, and stand by Him. What have YOU accomplished in your short life so far, hmm, child..? Jealous? Oh, no, I don't believe for a minute that you care all that much for Dimebag at all as much as you do for trying to make Dave 'The Man' Mustaine look bad at this time. I can see through fakes, and you (and the others similar) are just that. Your agenda sucks, and is failing. Why don't you give it up and maybe get a damn life (and a clue). Dave's a man of valor, and you will never take that or anything else away from him! While everyone else is wanting to Unite, you select assclowns are trying to divide (Us). Well, FUCK OFF, it ain't workin' for the True fans! It must suck ass to be an unoriginal, pointless and hateful hack such as yourself.... Anyway, Mustaine is willing to forgive (and forget about certain things) alot of people (some of which don't even really deserve it themselves, and should apologize first). Sure, he can stand to be more sincere with some of his feelings sometimes, and be just that, more forgiving, but for the very most part he is always sincere and honest. He's quite a Real person, no matter how confident he may seem, sometimes. He humbles himself just as much. If you don't truly know and understand him, then don't even try bashing him because you're way off. Mustaine's a good soul, and he is striving to better himself more and more day-by-day (and this is more proof, although he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, we know he's Great).... So, in closing, I say: Let us All be Brothers Of Metal, United. This is the time, and I think it happened for a reason. It's rather obvious. As sad as it may also be, it is also just as glorious, for we must never forget! Let Us fight on and remember and keep the memory of Darrell Abbott alive in our hearts and minds, Forever!

I'm starting to see more and more negative posts. You unappreciative fucks need to post somewhere else. Why didn't you just go to the funeral and say something negative. We don't need your negativity here. If you don't have anything positive to say then quit fuckin' posting. Apparently you sorry bastards are in the minority. Nobody wants your bullshit opinons here. I am not referring to the posts about Dave, who by the way, like him or not, has contributed MUCH lube for this metal machine we all groove on. I am referring to negativity about Dime. I just don't understand why someone would waste their time and ours by posting shit noone wants to read, especially when the grief is still so near, so new. Noone has broken out of the numbness and shit like this starts. Let me rephrase part of this. It's good to have your own opinion and I should respect it, but post it somewhere else with people of like minded opinion will agree with you. I don't think you will find much support here.

T-Boner, The Dude, TylerDurden any of you metalheads I had pissing contests with on these threads...
Sorry. It wasn't worth it.
Besides, I got into half those arguments because the lack of unity pissed me off. Well I see there's no need for that now.
Wish I could toss back a cyber-beer with ya'll and bang the head that definitely DOES bang.

I find that you defenders who speak of the unity of the metal soldiers and need to bond together as an army of metal headbanging defenders ruled by lord mustaine sound much more psycho that someone who basically just shares an opinion. Just because you like Dave doesnt mean everyone does. they dont. What politics have to do with this escapes me but whatever. i find if I make up my own mind I am much more myself. I'll say whatever I want about dave. If you feel the need to suck his dick so be it. I dont

["Just because you like Dave doesnt mean everyone does."]
Nobody's asking you to "like" Dave Mustaine. I think people are just hoping that you could find it within yourself to respect his sense of loss AND his public apology, which took a hell of a lot more courage than your half-assed insults.

Just be yourself Dave and it's all good......Whoever posted the nice comment about my band (MOTIVE) playing FUCKING HOSTILE for DIME (R.I.P.), thanks for the kind words, we have never played that song once and was a last minute ordeal if you can imagine. For Dime, I met you at least 9-10 times through out the years. Once when I was on tour with Flotsam, and Backstage @ Compton Terrace when you shredded with Zombie. The last time I saw you was 2-3 Weeks ago @ The Marquee Theatre (AZ). Funny how the little things in life pass you by in a short time. I found myself Friday Dec. 10th Playing our show @ the Marquee Theatre, standing where you were standing 2-3 weeks ago, playing your material in tribute to your life and greatness. That was a very touching moment for me and our fans and the whole Metal Community as a whole. Thanks for your greatness and kind soul......Randy Davis

I find people that need wake up calls to be reminded how to live are fucking phony and need to be shown as such. Yeah it takes a lot of courage to apologize. Get the fuck out of here. You look to bestow the highest of praise in the simplest of words. Neither my insults or his apology took courage. He's a fucking windbag and gets none of my respect. Fuck him. I've had friends on the receiving end of Daves ire and I dont forgive that easy. FUCK HIM.

I held my breath before viewing these responses. It seems everytime Dave says something there happens to be 50 people waiting to slam him on this message board. It was to the point I wouldn't even read the threads anymore. Anyway, I got the chance to meet Dave at a meet and greet in Milwaukee this year and he was awesome to his fans. Anyone who thinks he is just posing or using this situation is WRONG! He played a smoking show and had Exodus join the band onstage for the new song "Back in the day". After the show he met fans, signed tons of stuff and was very respectfull to everyone, one kid asked to have his picture taken with Dave giving him the finger, and he said no.
Dave, from a 35 year old metal head, Thanks for doing DIME justice on headbangers last night!!
Also and most importantly RIP DIME, I still cannot believe it. My stomach feels sick everytime I think about how everything must have been so normal seconds before the show, and then how everything can go so so wrong. DIME didn't deserve to die like that, let alone in front of a room full of people that adored him. His guitar playing was the epitome of metal at it's finest. Regaurds also to Vinnie, Rita, and the rest of DIMES extended family, especially Zakk.
Peace DIME !!!!!!!!!

RIP DARRELL 12/9/2004
This is unbelievable. To sit here and talk about Darrell in the past tense seems so wrong, so unfair, so unjust, I don't even know what to say. My heart goes out to Vinnie, to their families, to the other band members, and to the families and friends of the other people that were killed or injured, in this fucking senseless act of selfishness and stupidity. In 1985 I was fortunate enough to meet both Darrell and his brother in Dallas on tour. The first thing me and my friend did as soon as that tour was over, was to head straight back to Dallas and hang out with Darrell and Vinnie for a long time, cuz they were the coolest muther fuckers that we had met after criss-crossing the states for three months. That was the beginning of a friendship that was anchored in love, respect, fun, outrageousness, music, booze, sweat, late nights, early mornings, hangovers, headaches, pounding eardrums, sore bodies... the list goes on.
There's a tendency in these fucked up moments to use the word "I" a lot and focus on one's own feelings of pity and shock... so instead let it just be known that thru these eyes Darrell was incredibly warm, open, fun, nutty, forthcoming, talented, embracing, unpretentious, accommodating and he always had a very attractive innocence about him that obviously made him never threatening and always welcoming.
Darrell and his brother were the cornerstone of musical adventures that were always groundbreaking, pushing boundaries, challenging to themselves and to their fans, respected by their peers and always true musicians' musicians, and today the rock world is worse off because of this untimely and senseless waste.
Much love and respect and thanks for letting me be a small part of your life and I know you are already having fun and throwing it down with Bon Scott, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Jimi, Cliff B., and the rest of the musicians and troublemakers that you are hanging with so prematurely.
-Lars

Very admirable, Dave! Better late than never, right? Sure, we haven't seen it actually come to reality yet, but it's still very humble of him to say this. I just wish it hadn't taken such a fucked up tragedy to allow Dave to see the light. I just got through watching a clip from the Reinventing tour, where Pantera plays Primal Concrete Sledge, and at the end, Zakk Wylde comes out and does a kick ass solo. Then Dime pours a beer down his throat while he's playing. I still have tears in my eyes! Dime, you will forever be missed, brother. You are the legend of legends! May you live on in our hearts and minds forever! RIP

It is a remarkable thing to know a person as admirable as you. I truly love your "I once thought I was wrong, but I'm glad I'd mistaken" attitude. You keep up the good work, it fillls me up with joy to know there's a person who never made a mistake, who was always right from the start. It must be really something to have the gift of never fucking up and needing a call to tell you that you'd better off doing something different. I really admire you, maybe you could be the next jesus, with such a success in life you have displayed?

I THINK IT WOULD BE WISE FOR AN AFFILIATE OF BLABBERMOUTH.NET TO DO AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS FELLOW USING THE HANDLE "9"....especially considering the service that is being supplied here for the community...i don't need to read garbage like that after the tragedy that has ensued...as for Dave Mustaine...i commend him in his efforts to rectify the situations from his past...Forgiveness is something we all need to learn more of!

You come across as very self-righteous. You're right, nobody here really knows you and nobody here really knows Dave Mustaine. But you don't know Dave Mustaine either, yet you talk about him like you know him better than he knows himself. It's an incredibly hypocritical point to be making.
I also don't get why people who don't like a guy (the example here being Mustaine) always read Mustaine-related news stories and spend their time commenting on them. If you don't like the guy or don't care what he does, then why waste your time leaving comments about stuff he does?
Kudos to Dave for saying these things. Yeah it took a major tragedy to trigger it (though I have it on good authority that he really was tired of all the crap-talking, especially since the media kept goading him into it), but he's gone and done it. It takes a real man to go and extend your hand to so many people who have wronged you and/or who you have wronged.
I wasn't even a big Pantera/Damageplan fan (Dime's playing was awesome, but I'm a fan of quality clean singing and both bands lacked it most of the time)... but Dimebag's death has even gotten me to start thinking about life and death, the people you know, and the people who you used to know but have let things get away. Life is far too short. From the sounds of it, Dimebag lived every day to its fullest and treated everyone with respect, honesty, and kindness.
Forget just Dave – we should all live our lives like that. Man, would life be better for everyone if this were the case. Disagreements? Hell yeah, they happen. But respect? Always.

Much respect to Dave for that. I just wich him luck in changing his way of acting and personality for the better.
I don't think there's any hope for Lars Ulrich, though. He's always been a self-involved prick cause he probably got spoiled as a child. Dave, OTOH; thru all his anger and flaming of others to drug problems and all that shit, one could obviously notice it was a troubled sould behind his attitude, and the positive side is he can if he want to, change it all to the better. Lars is just an asshole by nature and not cause of personal problems, thus he won't change no matter what. Just my two cents.

I know........ Just what is the problem with some of you downright haters out there? Did "Lord Mustaine" torch down your village and slaughter all the people in it? Torture and/or kill a family member? What makes you want to make him out to be such an evil Tyrant? Seriously, though. I just don't understand. (Is it jealousy, like Kerry King so obviously displays over and over?) The man is being Honest and True, and, as far as I know, he's pretty much ALWAYS been that way. Show some respect. And, furthermore, I cannot stress Unity enough, everybody. Much Love and Respect. Hail. Rest In Peace -- Chuck Schuldiner, Darrell Abbott, & All Of The Fallen!
