It's Official: Club Where DIMEBAG Was Murdered To Reopen This Month
- Jan. 2, 2005
|
|
Alrosa Villa, the Columbus, Ohio nightclub that was the site of the deadly shootings last month which claimed the lives of DAMAGEPLAN/ex- PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and four others, will be reopening on January 14, 2005 with a benefit show for the victims' families. BOBAFLEX will be headlining the concert, with support from ODIOUS and other bands to be announced. A complete 11-minute interview with Alrosa Villa owner Rick Cautela, which aired on the Columbus, Ohio radio station The Blitz WBZX 99.7 FM last Tuesday (Dec. 28), can be downloaded at this location.

nobody's fucking heard of Bathory and Windir and they were nowhere near as influential as Pantera. That's why nobody talked about Dimebag like this. They also weren't shot ONSTAGE, either.

dude...Bathory is old....and so are you!!!!! Dimebag was a major AMERICAN influence....also an INTERNATIONAL influence on guitar! Bathory is too old and way "out-dated" death metal.....not that I LOVE old-school death metal...because I do....Bathory and Dime have NOTHING IN COMMON!!!!!!

To say no one has heard of Bathory is pure ignorance. They were one of the first underground death metal bands. Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't make it insignificant.
I agree though... if you don't like hearing about Dimebag then why in the fuck would you click an article about him? No one seems to be able to just scroll past shit on here.
I'm happy the club is re-opening. Having a place like that close just hurts the fans of metal cause there would be one less place for bands to play and one less place for fans to gather.

stfu loser, dimebag was leagues above those dudes you mentioned. I'm sorry they died, but didn't hear about it. dime's legend was not only his musicianship but his world-class positive personality. you could learn something from his life, as your social skills suck so bad and you are clueless to how stupid it is to make those remarks.

Tear the fucking place down so it can't happen again.
There was nothing there to prevent it before, and there still isn't.
How many people do you think will actually be there? Plenty will talk it, but unless they're fucking stoned or something, a sane person wouldn't walk back in there. It's a death trap.
I guess it will be determined by how many people show up. But I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were him. I KNOW I wouldn't be there.

Tear it down? Should all live music venues close because the threat exists that someone could be hurt of killed? The place had security. You can even see them on the video. The asshole just charged in with a gun. Your local McDonalds stands just as good a chance of being a "deathtrap." All it takes is one lunatic with a loaded weapon. So what are you gonna do? Hide? Never go out and see another metal show? My entire family works in NYC. 9/11 doesn't stop them from showing up to work each day. Shit happens, and life continues. You could get shot by some psycho, but it's more likely that you'd be hit by a car, or choke on a fucking pretzel, or maybe you'll just die of old age.
Either way, it totally sucks that this tragedy happened, and I sincerely hope that it never happens again, but this is a sick little world we live in. Point is, you can't let shit like this take over your life. You have to move forward in spite of all the psychos, terrorists and lunatics.

dime was cool but he was no god. yes his loss was tragic, but there are many others who die and go unnoticed.

.........your opinion is whack. Dime ripped with the best of the best. I don't know who you would think was better (there are other players in his league in the annals of metal, but not many), but I'd love to hear your favs. Dime was more than 'cool' bro. I'm just wondering, if you are so tired of Dime related stories, who is it that is forcing you to 'scroll down the page'???
Also, not many people as highly regarded in their respective fields and in the public eye are murdered in front of hundreds of people!!! Many people do die and go unnoticed, by the mass media. Very few die unnoticed by family, friends, co-workers and the such.
About the story??? Like TTSA2004 said 'The show must go on'.

but i dont honestly know if i will even step foot in the place again knowing what happened there...

That's rough. He should relocate his venue instead of reopening that place. I wouldn't want to perform on the same stage where Dime was killed or watch any shows at that venue. I know it costs money but selling that ground and reopening somewhere else in the area would be appropriate.
