MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE, ALICE COOPER To Contribute To 'Rock School' Soundtrack - Jan. 3, 2005
DailyLocal.com is reporting that MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine and Alice Cooper are among the prominent artists contributing to the soundtrack of "Rock School", a documentary that focuses on the Philadelphia-based Paul Green School of Rock, which teaches music to children by grouping them into bands and introducing them to the catalogs of rock and roll's musical giants. Everything from AC/DC to FRANK ZAPPA is fair game, with plenty of PINK FLOYD, BLACK SABBATH and QUEEN mixed in for good measure.

The soundtrack for the documentary will be a mix of cover songs played by the students along with the original artists.

The documentary will be screened this week at the Sundance Film Festival and then released in theaters nationwide in March. It will be distributed by New Market Films, which has distributed noted films such as "The Passion of the Christ" and "Donnie Darko". Read more.

To make a pointless negative post regarding a positive story regarding a music school for children.

The soundtrack sounds interesting at the very least. I wonder how good these kids are.

That this will be a good album. Most soundtracks aren't worth too much. There's only been a couple that I have ever bought because most are crap and leftovers. Not everytime but quite a bit. I'm actually more interested in seeing the movie than anything else.

going in Megadave threads to whine how you can't stand him is a sign that it's time for you to unplug your computer.

I hope Dave doesn't write another Die Dead Enough (which was meant for the Tomb Raider movie)...goddamn that song is horrible.

Anybody ever listen to Nights with Alice Cooper? He just rambles. Good music though.

death metal 101
grindcore 101A
hard rock 101B

get stickers for playing the entire Passion and Warfare album note for note. Maybe some cookies for doing your first blastbeat.

Wow..talk about rehashing shit. Wonder if Jack Black's gonna sue..."Rock School"? We already had "School of Rock"! What's next, an updated version of "Rock Star"? Maybe this one will be about the vocalist who previously walked out on his band, only to be replaced by a cheap imitation....just to come back into the fold years later (Yes, that's right...I HATED Ripper's work with Priest)

I'm not gonna knock it though, because yes, School of Rock was a cool concept, and this one sounds interesting as well....kids need to learn about decent music at a young age, and not be subjected to this teeny-bopper crap. I'll be at the theater when it comes out

That song just doesn't agree with me. And in my opinion, Dave has done a lot better as far as songs for movies go: Angry Again, Breakpoint, 99 Ways to Die. Whatever floats your boat.

Paul Green is in a local band here in Philly called Apollo Creed, and they are very metal. Every time I've seen them, I''ve been blown away by how awesome they were, yet as far as I know, they have no recordings. Well worth seeking out if you're in town.
