JIMI HENDRIX Estate Refuses To Allow Guitarist's Music To Be Used In Biopic

According to ContactMusic.com, OUTKAST star Andre 3000's dreams of bringing Jimi Hendrix's life story to the big screen have been dealt a bitter blow — the rock great's estate won't allow his music to be used in the film.
Andre, real name Andre Benjamin, fears the Hendrix biopic will remain unmade because movie-makers will never gain the rights to use the guitar great's songs.
He says, "I've heard that Will Smith wanted to do it (the film) at one time, Laurence Fishburne; Eddie Murphy had wanted to do it in the beginning of his career.
"There's been a lot of scripts to try to make it happen, but nothing can go on.
"I can go and make a Hendrix film right now, but I could not use any Hendrix songs that he wrote in the film."

If I were working at the estate and I knew you wanted to put big ear Will Smith in a Hendrix biopic, I'd reject you, too. If Andre got a real actor, he'd get the music.

Forget about the songs, get the rights for live hendrix footage and mix it with the actors " off set" stuff. It would be better to see the real thing in action and the act to actors anyway, can you imagine Oliver Stone`s the doors with actuall Jim`s footage instead of Val? Yeah ! I could make the movie too. jus gimme the capital to hire the right people. BTW Will Smith should never be allowed to destroy hendrix stuff.

I agree. Some things you don't mess with and one of 'em is Hendrix' music. You're 100% right, Will 'Thrown My Acting Skills Down The Toilet' Smith would be perfect to play the role of a sellout like Milly Vanilla Ice. Lots of life experience.

...Andre 3000 is incredibly talented, plays many instruments and is a really nice, personable guy. I think he would do an amazing job bringing Hendrix's legacy to the big screen, he even resembles him slightly, but then again, to a racist like Paster of Muppets he'd say 'they all look alike anyway' or some other racist shit.
Outkast is far from your everyday, run-of-the-mill rap group. Obviously you've never heard them, besides, Big Boi does most of the rapping in that duo, Andre is far more steeped in R&B than rap.

Given the man (Jimi) was black, he still appealed to more white folks than black, IMO. But, who are we to say that he (Andre) isn't as big a fan of Jimi's as we are? He probably could make something great if given the chance. I wonder why the estate is opposed to it.

Andre 3k is the best candidate out of all listed to play the part. This would be great, to see Jimi's story on the bigscreen. Too many people have no idea who he really was, or what he was about. I wonder what reason Jimi's estate has to not lease the rights...

I think that Andre 3000 would be perfect to play Hendrix. its alot better than ?Eddie Murphy? Andre 3000 is a great musician...Not nearly as good a Hendrix, and all you racists can die
