KID ROCK's Scheduled Appearance At BUSH Inaugural 'Shocking'

Ron Strom of WorldNetDaily.com is reporting that KID ROCK, a popular vulgar rock-rapper whose lyrics wouldn't begin to pass muster with the Federal Communications Commission, is headlining the youth concert during the inauguration festivities for President Bush — a politician who was re-elected largely due to the participation of traditional "values voters." The Detroit-based rapper, who dedicated his first album to songs about oral sex and who was voted the Sluttiest Male Celebrity at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, will perform Jan. 18 at the Washington, D.C., Armory in a concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara. Teenage singer JoJo also will appear at the event. After reading some of Kid Rock's lyrics, Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, was outraged the rapper would be a part of the president's festivities. "I just read Kid Rock's sexually explicit lyrics and feel ashamed and dirty for even looking at his songs," he told WorldNetDaily.com. "If this sex-crazed animal, whose favorite word is the F-word, is allowed to sing at Bush's inauguration this will send a clear message to pro-family Americans that the Republican Party has taken them for a ride and ditched them in the gutter." Said Thomasson on the rapper's lyrics: "This is the worst I've ever seen. This guy's singing about how he sexually exploits every girl and then asks them if he can do it with their moms." Thomasson wondered how " Bush's FCC can take the F-word off TV and fine radio and television networks that cuss on the air and show indecency, and then have the most indecent, sexually explicit, anti-family white singer on the planet representing the second term of George W. Bush." Thomasson said even if Kid Rock were to perform less offensive songs at the youth concert, his mere presence at a Bush event sends a huge message. "This is more than inconsistent; it's a sham," he said. "This guy is one of the worst role models for youth imaginable." Concluded Thomasson: "It makes me angry. … This is a good reason to leave the Republican Party." Read more.

I suppose that Randy Thomasson has only read the lyrics to Kid Rock's vulgar songs. Rock's been putting out more Southern Rock/Mellow material throughout the years, and he hasn't rapped as much anymore. Rock's had a mature song in him here and there. Case in point, "Picture".
I'm not exactly a fan of Kid Rock, but I've heard enough of his stuff over the years to know that he's not completely vulgar in all of his songs.
Good for Kid Rock, and good for George W. Bush. My pick fir such an event would have been more along the lines of Black Label Society or Shadows Fall, but that's a different story.

You probably don't understand because you have no idea what life events lead people to follow what politics they do. It isn't a "black and white" subject matter that can be defined with an asinine comment as the one above. On topic - it is a strange choice for entertainment, but I would sum it up as the people running the thing as trying to reach out to a younger audience. Look at the half time shows for most sporting events - they are usually some gut-wrenching top 40 act/artist who is selling well, but are despised by most people who frequent this site. Same idea.
Btw - speaking of sporting events, I have no idea who is the entertainment for the Super Bowl this year, but Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake didn't exactly come off as artists who the average NFL fan would like. What the fuck is up with that?

and hollowguy, I am sure there are a lot of metalheads who feel that;
1) Expensive pointless wars are a good thing
2) Expensive gasoline is a good thing
3) Lots of people losing their job is a good thing
4) Spending taxes on the Vice Presidents corporation is proper.
5) Cutting taxes for the wealthiest people in the US when the economy is down and getting congrees to approve record budget deficits is good economic policy
I guess I just haven't met any of them...

I don't know what to say. Did you actually read my post? It is a mix of facts and opinion - the facts check out. If you were to actually take a few moments and review the thread you would see that I was responding to an earlier message. You would also see that my post is in fact in agreement with what you are saying. (To an extent, that is.)
I guess ... maybe cutting down on the glue sniffing parties over at T-Boner's place would be helpful. ;-)
