AUDIOSLAVE: Sophomore Album Due In June - Jan. 7, 2005
A source at Epic Records has exclusively told The Zone that the second album from AUDIOSLAVE will arrive in June. Singer Chris Cornell, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk have been working on the follow-up to their 2002 debut since last year, and Morello said he couldn't be more excited about the results. "It sounds awesome," he said. "It's a ridiculously rocking record, and I think it far surpasses the first one, which I loved. I thought the first record was great, but we've really gelled as a band and, you know, having a year of touring under our belts, we've become and kind of grown into ourselves as a band. It sounds awesome."

More information about the record, including its title and a specific release date, is not yet available.

AUDIOSLAVE's self-titled debut disc has sold over two million copies. The band has an unusual record label arrangement: because vocalist Chris Cornell, formerly of SOUNDGARDEN, was signed to Interscope Records, that company issued AUDIOSLAVE's debut. But since the other members of the group were signed to Epic when they were in RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, that label gets to release the second AUDIOSLAVE disc. Future releases from AUDIOSLAVE will continue to flip between the two labels.

is the best singer on Earth...I just wish he'd do one more tour with Soundgarden, where he was surrounded by equals. That's not to say that I don't like Audioslave, though...I will definitely be
buying this.

blessed be.

We need more rock in 2005. Between Audioslave and Fozzy this year of rock is fucking starting off good. My Dream tour would be Audioslave, Velvet Revolver and opening up the mighty Fozzy. The Rock Your Ass 2005 Tour!!

I hope Tom actually plays melodies and some real leads. I enjoy his noises but I'm ready for something different from Tom Morello.

I can't wait to hear their 2nd album... The first was a little too light for my taste, the first song being the heaviest. I still really enjoyed seeing them live though.

i think for a debut album they were pretty damn good. the 1st half of the album was a bit stronger i thought. my only real gripes about the record were Tom's soloing still sounding like Rage, which it seems quite out of place on half the songs, and Chris's singing was a little raspy and tired on some tracks as well. let's hope Tom maybe goes in a new direction with his guitar sound and the vocals improve a notch. if that happens, i don't doubt for a second that this could easily be album of the year.

Anyone clowning on any of the Rage memebers are musical fucking lame brains. Rage funcking ripped when they were around and every album the put out kicked ass. Zach is a hard act to follw but with Cornell in there, I was blown away, his voice is absolutely brilliant and Audioslave's debut record was nothing short of incredible. It was a fresh new taste of rock music that was needed showing that Tom does have the ultimate versatility on his guitar. Their second album is going to be amazing and Audioaslave will be around forever. Fuck anyone who does not agree with my piont of view.

Chris Cornell is an awesome singer and i am glad Soundgarden broke up because really everything went SLOWLY downhil after Badmotorfinger,Audioslave just needs to turn it up a notch and Tom Morello can still go fuck himself.

June better come soon. I really can't wait for this album. i must have lsten to the first album every single day for like 6 months. Chirs can sing better then anyone i've heard in a long time almost reminds me of Morrison and Plant. The music is awesome, and event hough Tom doesn't play any solo type things his sound is unmistakeble. Its signature and when you hear that you know it's him. the first album was a great debut i hope the new one is as equal or better!! hell yes. and Nirvana was overrated all hail Alice in Chains they deserve more respect!!

the first audioslave was simply a damn good rock album. i was a little puzzled in the begining to a) hear RATM staff making "straight forward rock" and to hear b) chris cornell delivering thishard hitting RATM-like rhythms - but both things worked great.

looking forward to have my hands on this album.

Audioslave is cool because they have Cornell who is an unbelievable vocalist. But I agree with a couple of the other posts that AIC should get more respect, they get totally dissed every time the whole Seatlle scene is talked about and they seam to have had more influence than anything else from the ninties.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA, I like this shit.........and it's almost a shure thing this is gonna have mass appeal, I mean AudioSlave has their harder moments, bluesy shit, rockin shit hell they even got some Rage freaky sounding solos! and by "mass appeal", i mean everyone can find something cool about it. I know I can and I'm a Death, Thrash, Grind, metal kinda gauy.

Cornell has to have one of the best voices in the buissness and that just ain't sayin' rock N roll, or Metal for that matter. Soundgarden, Temple, Audio.......fuck it, it's all quality shit.

I expect more from their second release, I never listen to the first very much. In nostalgia, I wish RATM and Soundgarden would reform. The RATM meets "Seattle" sound does not do it for me, both factions are talented in their own right but don't make a good marriage of styles. In all, I miss Kin Thail's guitar meshing with Cornell and the rest of Soundgarden while rapping fots the staccato style of Morrelo, it plain sucks that so many ninties bands tried to rip off both bands styles and ruined the original. However, I will probably but this one come June - despite the hype.

Rage was the best band in the 90s.. no doubt about it. Audioslave might be ok if you took out the three ex rage members... it just doesn't sound right with those guys. It's too bad morello and crue felt like softening up and the result is audioslave. Zakk is a crazy mofo on stage and tears shit up but without morello playing it will never be the same as rage was. It's too bad the ex-rage guys cant hang anymore.. old pussies.
