New TONY IOMMI/GLENN HUGHES Collaboration At Mixing Stage - Jan. 25, 2005
BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi is said to be making great progress with his new album which, as previously reported, also features Glenn Hughes (ex-DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) on vocals and Kenny Aronoff (ex-JOHN MELLENCAMP) on drums. They’ve cut 13 tracks, all produced by Bob Marlette, who worked on Tony's first solo album ("Iommi") in 2000 and the BLACK SABBATH "Reunion" album in 1998, and whose recent productions with SEETHER and SHINEDOWN are currently in the U.S. Billboard charts.

Compared to the songs on the recently released "The DEP Sessions" (featuring songs recorded by Iommi and Hughes in 1996), the new material is "more riff-oriented," Iommi told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. He also promised that, like its impromptu predecessor, the songs would "come together very, very quick."

The album is now at the mixing stage and discussions are taking place regarding the release date, which will be later this year. Tony is also hoping to be able to take this album out live. More information will be made available soon.

In other news, Iommi fans in Brazil can check out the January 2005 issue of Rock Brigade magazine, which contains an interview that Tony did with them late last year. Click here to view the magazine cover.

Iommi could have Pee Wee Herman on vocals...as long as the riffs are good... I am one happy guy.

Let's just hope that this doesn't sound like a Mellencamp record...

Ahhhrgh! Why use such a boring vocalist as Glenn Hughes? On the last Iommi-album ther were different vocalists on each song and it worked out just fine. Now it's gonna be shitty funk-vocals on everything.

- how could this be anything but great? Then again, considering those two throw-away tracks on reunion and some of the crap Tony put out on a couple of those fake Sabbath albums (and please - no whining from the cheap seats. Seventh Star was a Iommi solo album until he was forced to call it Sabbath by his record company) let's hope he's had a rejuvination in the songwriting dept. If that's true this - as well as the next Sabbath album - will kill.

Do you REALLY think Tony Iommi would put out an album that sounded like John Mellencamp? Keeny A. didn't make John Mellencamp albums sound like Mellencamp albums - Mellencamp did. Wouldn't you agree?

until he looks like Lionel Richie. Then we'll put him on the cover and call the album Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi, part deux.

Itwalks, I expect more from you.

This is my first post at blabbermouth, but i have been a lurker for some time. I was just wondering, why you go out of you way to put down anything to do with SABBATH that doesn't include ozzy. I like all of SABBATH from the original album to Forbidden. I'm not trying to slap any kind of hornet's nest, I was just wondering what made you hate all of the post ozzy material. Tony Iommi couldn't write a "crap" song if he tried. I guess thats what makes music so great, everyone has their own opinion. What one person loves another will hate.

Good Day
