MUSHROOMHEAD Perform As 'SLIPKNOT' In Front Of Home State Crowd

The following was sent to us by a BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor from Ohio: "At MUSHROOMHEAD's three recent Northeast Ohio shows, the band reportedly wore SLIPKNOT costumes/masks for their entire set. The band also did an interview on WMMS this past Sunday night (Jan. 30) and talked about the SLIPKNOT outfits. They said they did it solely for fun and to get a reaction from the crowd. There's no hidden agenda behind them wearing them." A posting on MUSHROOMHEAD's official message board from a fan that attended the Jan. 27 show at Peabody's in Cleveland reads as follows: "The stage was covered by a sheet and lights started coming in from the other side so you could see silhouettes of members (mostly Waylon). At the same time SLIPKNOT-esque samples of 'The Whole Thing I Think is STOLEN' were playing. The sample sounded exactly like it really does, except with the different words. Waylon was CoreyBronson was Mick ThomsonGravy was Jim RootJeffrey was Chris (boner nose) Stitch was SidSchmotz was CraigSkinny was JoeyPig Benis was PaulI'm positive that the merch guy was Shawn ( The Clown)...he even had a keg to beat on. It was fuckin awesome. "They opened up with 'Before I Die'... After it ended, Waylon screamed 'Is this special enough for you?' People started chanting 'Fuck SLIPKNOT'... Waylon then screamed, 'Come on, don't be afraid to say it,' which made everyone start the chant back up. I think they played 'Bwomp' afterwards, but I don't remember if they took the masks off or not. The crowd was brutal and I loved it. The last song of the night, which I don't remember what it was...had ' Clown' return. He was rolling around the stage just like he does for SLIPKNOT. "THAT WAS THE BEST DAMN 'SLIPKNOT' SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!" Fucking Mushroomhead kick major ass! I never really did like Shipknot because of how they ripped off Mushroomhead. So in my opinion, Mushroomhead makes Shitknot look like AIDS. I'm sure people are going to disagree with that and say that Shitknot is better, but hey I don't give a fuck.

When was the last time they were mentioned on Blabbermouth? Obviously they're having trouble these days, and the only way to get some attention was to dress up as slipknot.

I like both bands. I am from Ohio so I get why Mushroomhead done that. There is always someone who will disagree with everything someone does or says, especially on this board. Every band out there who plays there hometown usually plays to life long fans and friends, unless you are the Black Crowes who always bash their hometown. People that were at these shows probably really got a kick out of it and could care less what everyone else thinks.

Seriously. I have - not once - heard someone talk about Slipknot and bring up this "feud" with MushroomHead (or vice-versa). In fact, I only recall MH ever talking about it in an interview...(brought up by the scribe, of course.)
What's next? Otep and the vocalist from The Darkness arguing over who was the first "rock lesbian?"

The funniest part about this is that they are making claims that Slipknot stole something, yet if that one vocalist doesn't sound like a complete knock-off of Patton, I don't know what does. If Mushroomhead claims that Slipknot stole their sound, they are morons. Nothing they have ever done resembles anything Slipknot has made.
I thought this whole ordeal was over anyway? They didn't do this just for fun, if it was, then they wouldn't have changed the lyric, or egged on the crowd.
They probably did it for the publicity to get attention that they have a new singer. They need to get it somehow since their label dropped them.
The new singer should keep his mouth shut, he wasn't involved in the supposed 'problem' Mushroomhead had with them in the first place, so why should he care.

i was living in ohio when mushroomhead was in their regional heyday, and this was the word then: time-wise mushroomhead has been around longer, and they were a HUGE regional success, maybe even the biggest draw in ohio. roadrunner started to check them out and liked the whole costume thing they had going, but wasn't totally thrilled with the music they were making. along comes slipknot, who also had costumes, but according to whoever was scouting them, slipknot's music was better so they got the record deal. at the time, that only partially marred mushroomhead because they were making a ton of money being self-sufficient with their own record label and backing their own merchandise. universal finally wised up and started sending a&r guys through ohio and someone from universal made them 'an offer they couldn't refuse'. i've never been a big fan of both, but i remember how much of a draw, and how much of a stink people used to throw about them...sounds like they're both clamoring for attention anymore...

I am personal friends with mushroomhead and have followed them since they formed. I have been friends with pig benis way before he joined, back when he played for torment and ritual. I'm here to tell you that slipknot ripped them off almost mask for mask. they have no talent at all. Mushroomhead takes great pride and effort in what they WRITE, rather than getting fucked up and recording the first thing that comes to mind. I think the cleveland shows prove once and for all...It's not the mask that matters...what matters is musicians behind them....and slipknot....they are all mask! FUCK SLIPKNOT! They should be named PLAGIARIST!

I've always found Mushroomhead quite interesting actually. The guitarist is pretty poor but still, the music isn't at all bad. Slipknot however have only one good album, The Subliminal Verses, which proves that they actually have talent.
And no, that vocalist doesn't sound like a complete knock off of Patton although he has obviously been an influence...The one guy sounds like Ian Astbury!
By the way, the first Mr. Bungle album was kick ass but you can't beat Disco Volante. Its bar far the most technical, great stuff.

Yeah it started out with the Epic video when Anthony (I think) said that Patton stole his moves. Then long after that FNM did that show you were talking about and after that Anthony from the Chili Peppers got Mr. Bungle thrown off a few festivals. How moronic.

...wish they had the talent that Slipknot has. Vol. 3 was their best album! The only Mushroomhead song I like is Solitaire Unraveling, the rest of their stuff is just drivel. If you don't think Slipknot have any talent, listen to Vermillion part 1 and 2 or Some Feel or Do Nothing/Bitchslap off of Mate.Feed.Kill. Repeat. Do Nothing/Bitchslap was fucking genious, they need to reissue that album.
While I do like Slipknot over Mushroomhead, I'd pick Morbid Angel over both anyday. Hail Death Metal!

I've seen both bands, and I have to say that Slipknot put on the better show. You may not like them, but they do have talent, at least some of the members. I saw Mushroomhead at the Reverb. one of the smallest venues in T.O. and got all of Mushroomhead's autographs and talked with them all. They are nice guys and generally don't give a shit about the whole feud, shit I even had a Slipknot shirt on at the time.

Mushroomhead doesn't give a shit about Fagknot. I'm sure it was all a joke. The shows were around here in Cleveland where they are from and they were just playing up to their fans. If the only Mushroomhead you people have heard is the new stuff, check out their first two discs, Mushroomhead and Super Buick. It is a completely different sound. I love their old shit. Their new shit is overproduced and lacking in talent. It could be the loss of their two orginal guitartists. Who knows. But I definitely hate anything they have done since M3, which was also self released.

Pfft. Where did you come up with 'rather than getting fucked up and recording the first thing to come to mind'? You might have insight on Mushroomhead, but you obviously don't know shit about Slipknot, which is fine, but don't go making assumptions to try and make a fit your personal argument.
Although I do like Mushroomhead, Slipknot, musically, has a deeper sound than Mushroomhead. Mushroomhead doesn't layer nearly as well as Slipknot does.
I can't believe that they are still dwelling over the stupid mask bullshit. Even if Slipknot didn't exist, Mushroomhead would have never taken off like Slipknot did. Time to get over it.
If anything that mabrymusic said was true, it's kind of sad that they took a band that was doing it for a shorter amount of time, and without the business savvy, and not you. That says something.

after having listened to both bands quite a but ive come to a comclusion...they are both musically very good bands...they also in my opinion sound very different....and like everyone else I prefer one to the other....BUT...just because i prefer one band does not mean the other band sucks...i wish people would be objective enough to realize that music like everything else on this planet is subjective to opinion...and different people have different opions...as for Mushroomhead playing dressed as Slipknot...i laughed my ass off...funniest thing ive heard all month

ok all you people that have probably heard none of slipknots cd's yet still insist on baging on them. Maybe all of you should sit down and listen to one of their whole albums. You guys all asume they have no talent, and it's amazing how much you guys are wrong. You should really listen to every album, but most of all listen to "ME INSIDE", "The Opium of the people" "My plague" "Vermillion" (part 1 and 2) and maybe you guys will understand. Every person i know that didn't like slipknot just like some of you, like it now that i made them acsually listen to it and not judge them by their look. Also, for all you slipknot fans that only like one album are fucking insane, there is no possible way you can like only one of their albums. Ok listen to this.. Look at Mushroomheads XIII Cd cover, take note, that is a close up of one of the guys masks, Now look at Slipknot's Vol 3 cd, its a close up of Jims Mask. XIII came out in 2003. Slipknots was ~7 months after Mushroomheads XIII was released. That tells me right there that slipknot is copy cats.

Mushroom head are the copy cats, they came out in '93 slipknot started in '92 just because MH are a bunch of whiney lil bitches because they thought they had a great idea to make masks and then realized that a band called slipknot came around so they tried to blame it on them so they could get the glory, MH sucks anyway ive tried to listen to there music, and slipknot has more talent in one of there fingernails does, every album kicks ass including IOWA heaviest one in my point of view
