New Music From METALLICA, VELVET REVOLVER, AUDIOSLAVE Slated For 'Batman' Soundtrack? - Feb. 1, 2005
According to a posting at SuperHeroHype.com, newly recorded tracks by METALLICA, VELVET REVOLVER, AUDIOSLAVE, PEARL JAM, Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION) and CHEVELLE are among the songs that are slated to appear on the "Batman Begins" soundtrack, tentatively due in late May/early June. Also purportedly scheduled for inclusion are three songs from GREEN DAY (the two newly recorded tracks, and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", which is said to be the film's "theme song"), as well as newly recorded cuts from THE CURE and FOO FIGHTERS.

"Batman Begins", helmed by the cutting-edge director of "Memento", Christopher Nolan, is set to receive a U.S. theatrical release on June 17.

It's gotta be better than Batman and Robin though.

I had high hopes for this movie considering the people involved both in front and behind the camera. Then the pictures of the costume showed up on the internet. What did I see? Batman and his fucking hard rubber non-moving neck. How can the guy kick ass if he cant even turn his head left or right? I think of all the advances in everything from 1989 unitl now. But no advance in the rubber non-moving neck area in the last 16 years? Costume makers in Hollywood run out of ideas? I'm not going to watch this because of this matter alone.

Fuck I need my coffee.

Batman is such a dark story, I would have gone with some gothic and doom metal, like Lacuna Coil, Paradise Lost, Type O Negative, Nightwish, etc. And "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is an okay song, but NOT for Batman. Lyrically I can understand why they chose it, but then Iron Maiden's "Journeyman" would have been an infinitely better choice.

Hey Metallica, you're going to look pretty stupid if your song and the Chevelle song are the only ones that don't have guitar solos on there. Even Green Day does solos from time to time, even if they are just slow, ringing arpeggios.

Who cares what the theme song is? It will only play during the credits any way. Most of the music will probably be orchestrated. These soundtrack albums are just for selling CD's. Most of the songs will never make the movie or will only be heard for a few seconds, like on the radio in someone's car. Relax all you uptight nerds. Besides, liek someone said earlier, if you want the "real" Batman watch the Adam West movie. It's funny and clever. Jesus Christ - he's a freakin' cartoon character! Why does everyone want him to be dark and gloomy and depressing? Is there already enough dark, gloomy, depressing shit in the world?

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" chord progression is very similar to Oasis's "Wonderwall." Listen to the two songs and you will hear the similarities. I don’t know if Green Day initially ripped off Oasis or not. I wouldn't be surprised if Oasis files a lawsuit.

Memo to fleckr: Batman Begins will indeed have a score, and it should be quite good. It's being co-written by Hans Zimmer ("The Last Samurai", "Gladiator", "King Arthur", "As Good As It Gets") and James Newton Howard ("Peter Pan", "Signs", "Unbreakable", "The Fugitive"). So it's looking pretty good, I think, with these two talents working together.

The comic book never interested me. I'll take Poison Elves, old Witchblade and/or The Darkness, X-Men, Pitt, or absolutely anything by Joseph Michael Linsner (Cry For Dawn, Angry Christ Comix, A Vampire's Christmas...phenominal shit) over the Batman books.

The whole quasi/post-grunge situation they got going with Chevelle, Audioslave, VR (Scott mainly) and Pearl Jam kinda' creeps me out a little.

Besides if they wanted to make a "good" comic book movie they would do Y The Last Man. Now that is well written and imaginative, plus could be easily made into a live action movie. If you don't know about "Y The Last Man" buy the trades from Amazon.com

Highly recommended............

P.S. Fantastic Four is going to suck donkey balls.

will kick the shit out of all the other Batman movies. All of them, and I mean all of them have sucked my left nut up until this point. Clooney and Keaton were too OLD to play Bruce Wayne and the movie Kilmer (the only GOOD Bruce) was in was written like shit. And now its going to have my favorite all time band on the soundtrack? Hell yes.
