CHIMAIRA Guitarist Death Hoax - Feb. 9, 2005
Metal Hammer is reporting that CHIMAIRA guitarist Rob Arnold did not die yesterday as an Internet report has suggested.

A fake news story has been circulating since yesterday afternoon stating that "CHIMAIRA guitarist Rob Arnold was found dead in car aged 25.

"Cleveland police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found following a suspected road accident in Co Roscommon this morning.

"The man, who is identified as 25-year-old guitarist Rob Arnold, was found dead inside a vehicle that was spotted in a ditch by a passing motorist in Cloonfad East at around 9am. A post mortem is due to be carried out later today to determine the cause of his death."

CHIMAIRA's publicist told Metal Hammer, "Rob's just fine and amused to learn of his death yesterday."

An official statement from the band is as follows:

"In more startling news, guitarist Rob Arnold has returned from the dead. Donations for his family are still being accepted."

dude, you are a sick motherfucker. I dont see why anyone would wish death on another person. and music man, you might be right, but I dont think it is...their reaction isnt big enough...theyd make a big stink about where the articel came from and all that if it were a publicity thing. They're too toned down. I think some moron just decided it would be funny to say a famous guy got killed.

I'm glad he's not dead. If he had died then Chimaira probably would have become even more overrated than they are now, and we'd never hear the end of them. But now we can all rest assured that Chimaira will eventually fade into obscurity with all the other nu-metal garbage that no one cares about anymore.

upset that chimaira aren't afraid to involve a bit of melody in their songs, are we?

i like how certain people will just attach that retarded 'nu-metal' prefix to just about anything that doesn't reach a level of consistent heaviness. or something along those lines. either way its confusing because i wouldn't label chimaira as nu-metal at all.
