Video Of DIECAST Concert Brawl Posted Online

Video footage of the Jan. 22 brawl at a DIECAST concert in Salt Lake City has been posted online at KTVX.com. The video shows the crowd getting unruly during a show at a Midvale comedy club (The Comedy Circuit). There's a lot of shoving and pushing and then it gets out of control. Some people jumped on stage and allegedly assaulted members of the band — a claim that the members of DIECAST deny. A security guard was reportedly attacked when he tried to stop them. No one was seriously hurt, but police want to charge the suspects with assault. Solid Entertainment promoter Bobby Baugh, who organized the ill-fated concert, blamed the violence on the local devotees of the "straight edge" movement. However, in a statement sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, DIECAST bassist Jeremy Wooden rejected Baugh's account, stating that the promoter's unprofessionalism and his employees' apparent inexperience in dealing with a concert of this nature created an atmosphere that led to a physical confrontation between members of the audience and club's security. Salt Lake City Gang Unit Detective Bob Eldard told KSL News that straight-edgers in Utah are more violent than other places in the country. "They have a nationwide reputation among some of the straight-edge bands and some of them won't even play here because of the reputation they have," he said. Eldard said straight-edgers don't smoke or drink. He said most kids who identify with the movement just plan to keep their bodies pure, but in Utah there's a small group that's incredibly violent, and often causes trouble with police. And where the fuck is security? The fights go on for minutes and it appears nothing but crowd breaks it up.

It's funny how the band kept playin! I have nothing wrong with
Straight Edge kids but when they're out to hurt someone i think
its complete bullshit! They're suppose to be promoting peace
among other things, not to beat people down. They think it's
cool and part of the scene but it's NOT!!!!!! One time some kid
thought it was funny to punch me in the side of the head at
Hellfest 2K doing his little ridiculous kung fu kicks and such.
I ended up beating him so bad i put the kid in the hospital! I
did feel bad afterwards (especially after paying the little bastards
hospital bills and having to go back to Syracuse for court). But
my point is, if your man enough to hit someone your man enough
to get your ass whipped in return!

what douchebaggery. i used to get in the mosh pits and all that when i was younger. but then people started actually trying to hurt other people. i thought it was just about working out frustrations and having a good time, but then people started intentionally throwing fists. the fuckers at that show need to learn how to enjoy a concert that they paid to watch.

Man, I'm fucking straight edge but I don't do all the stupid karate dancing and I don't provoke violence at shows. Diecast is a killer band but these kids are giving "edge" a bad name, you shouldn't judge all of us on the account of these guys. I love the hardcore shit and I love hardcore shows, but I also love metal and the traditional moshing. I've never had any problems with the metal dudes cause I'm respectful of their space and they have always been respectful of my space. I know a lot of these guys go to shows to fight and that's just plain wrong. Nobody should go to a show to fight, you go to shows to have fun and enjoy yourselves. But to all of you, please don't think that all edge kids are like this...I'm not, and all of my edge friends aren't.

1. The band are fucking idiots for not stopping and try to get some order or plead with people to chill out. Playing hardcore while guys are thumping on people is only going to add fuel to the fire.

well i gotta say that i am actually amazed at the amount of immature brats there are out there, that have really no respect for anything, or anyone but themselves, and their own personal possessions. Look at the singer,by now he has the mic nowhere near his mouth,and is actually to the side of the stage,if they where still playing,don't you need a Mic near your mouth in order to sing.
The bass Player is not even playing,he is just walking around the stage
If you have seen this group play,you know the bass player just doesn't walk around like that.
