ZYKLON Set Working Title For New Album - Feb. 19, 2005
ZYKLON, the Norwegian band featuring former EMPEROR members Samoth (guitar) and Trym (drums), have set "Disintegrate" as the working title of their third album, tentatively due before the end of the year via Candlelight Records. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Disintegrate", "Vulture" and "Scum".

In an interview with the Enslaved by Metal webzine conducted last fall, Samoth said about the upcoming CD, "I think the new album will be closer to 'Aeon' [2003] than 'Aeon' was to 'World ov Worms' [2001], but at the same time I hope we can add new elements to the new album. We're at least aiming for an all over stronger album."

In other news, ZYKLON recently completed work on a music video for the track "Core Solution" and will make it available online soon. The band are still working on a full DVD release.

Upcoming ZYKLON shows:

Mar. 05 - Kroa - Bø, NOR (w/ RED HARVEST, MINDGRINDER)
May 21 – TBA - Dublin, IRE
Jun. 10-12 – Maanefestivalen - Fredrikstad, NOR
Aug. 4-6 – Wacken Open Air – Wacken, GER

ZYKLON guitarist Samoth (real name: Tomas Haugen, ex-EMPEROR) married his Canadian girlfriend Erin on Tuesday, February 15 in a small ceremony in Norway. View a photo of the happy couple at this location.

...What do these guys sound like? Are they anything like Emperor? The mighty Emporer rules.

They don't sound like Emperor much.
More modernized.

Well....The drums naturally sound like Emperor....But the band has more of a Death Metal sound...at least to me....If you like Emperor...i am very sure you would love this....It is very fast...but not really growling vocals...the vocals are closer to blackmetal. I look at it as a progression from Emperor...although i would still rather have Emperor back....

Zyklon can at times sound a bit like Emperor on their last two albums, but it is nothing like the (good) old albums from Emperor. The sound is definately very Death Metal-ish. Zyklon is good, but nowhere near the glory of Emperor in their heyday.

...strike me as "modern death metal", in the way that Cynic were (compared to the likes of Morbid Angel) back in the day.

Run don't walk to the nearest record store and purchase World Ov Worms. As a Emperor fan I'm confident you'll love it. If it turns out you don't like it send me an email me and I'll buy it from you. My disk is about on it's last leg from overuse.

As far as genre Zyklon borrows elements from several genre's and thus is simply niche-metal. Whatever it is it fucking kills.

I didn't like Aeon that much. Too death metal and boring. I mean they're great musicians and all, but they're distancing themselves more and more from their bm roots. I guess that's what they wanna do and i'm fine with it. But to me their mcd "Blood Must be Shed" (Released under their old monicker Zyklon-B) and their first album "World ov Worms" are their best works. Still i'm gonna listen to the new one. I respect them.
And i've got nothing against death metal, i love Dying Fetus, Cephalic Carnage and many other bands.
