SYSTEM OF A DOWN To Take Part In MTV's $2 Bill Concert Series - Feb. 21, 2005
SYSTEM OF A DOWN will reportedly play at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California in mid-March as part of MTV's "$2 Bill" concert series. No further details are currently available.

MTV's "$2 Bill" concert series was born out of the marketing department in 2002 and has become a staple touring and programming opportunity for the network since its introduction. The network is staging "$2 Bill" events on a quarterly basis.

"Mesmerize", the first half of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's new double album, "Mesmerize/Hypnotize", arrives in stores on April 26. "Hypnotize" is due out sometime this fall.

The first official single from the album, "B.Y.O.B.", will make its way to rock radio at the end of this month. A track called "Cigaro" has already been leaked online and picked up by stations around the country.

on every level. I wish Serj et al. were on that train in Glendale when that dude parked his car on the tracks and killed a bunch of people.

This band kicks ass. Normally when I see news on blabbermouth about a band I don't like I simply ignore it.

That's a novel idea isn't it? Ignoring news on bands you don't like, wow wouldn't that be great. Instead you have idiots who come up with a new way they wish a band woould die. First it was, "I wish they were in the Tsunami," now it's "I wish they were on the train." There are a bunch of pathetic losers who visit this site. And I don't even like SOAD.

And Execution style..........I think you mean all these new hardcore bands that sound like Biohazard (as Hatebreed does).

I'm pretty sure Hatebreed is newer than Biohazard and that they do sound a lot alike. I like both bands either way, but there are some great similarities.

soad is good band, but live in the big places play like shit. ozzfest a couple years ago was pathetic. but i hope they don't totally become sellouts on this record. last one, they stuck to thier guns pretty decently. and no, hatebreed and biohazard are 2 different things. kinda like chocolate and peanutbutter. go well together, but are good by themselves too. where you came up w/ that, i have no idea. oh, they are from the same area. who would have guessed. so through that thinking you must think smashing pumpkins sound like disturbed. smart!!!

and all their buddies in Tool and Audioslave are hypocritacal opportunists. They play themselves off as 'fighting for the lower classs' while they hate corporate America. They show up to food drives in Hummers, they sign million dollar deals with huge corporations. They go on corporate sponsored tours and do corporate videos for MTV.

If Serj was so concerned about the poor he would not live beyond his means as he does. If Morello was so concerned about the environment, he wouldn't be driving a huge SUV. If Maynard was so concerned about being out of the public light. His band would release demos and never tour or do any press or videos.

Some of you kids need to be aware of the way the business works and see it for what it really is; an opportunity to make money.

P.S. After Serjs comments on 9-11. I hope he and or his family dies in the next terror attack.

While I understand where you are coming from, do you really know anybody that does that? Besides the REAL people who are actually down there, knee deep in the shit of helping the Tsunami victims, or the people in harms way in places like the congo and shit, how many people have given up everything. Not many. If they did they would not be making the music they do. Yes it's all about business. What do you beleive in? Shopuld you give up all you own for your causes. If you want to help the homeless should you sell your house and live on the streets? Atleast they are trying to do what they can, that's alot more than some people can say. And by the way, what comments did he make about 9-11? Just curious, not defendiong him but want to know. I have my own opinion on the subject but that's mine and I know I'd just get bitchslapped for saying it. lol.

but for SOAD, they are hit and miss with me. Some of their shit is good and great, some just make me cringe. They are original though so I will give them props for that, but being original can sometimes be bad. that Cigaro songis just annoying but look forward to see what the rest of the album is like. And Daron is a pretty good guitarist, I find he has a bit of a refreshing take on his playing style. I really enjoy playing some of teir tunes.

the only good that can possibly come of this is that it may mean they're diong a little touring before they go back to europe for the summer. i'd prefer they weren't associating themselves with mtv, but to make money and help promote the album i guess you gotta do what you gotta do........ if it was a fuse $2 concert it wouldn't seem so bad, but mtv's just crap

later

The lyrics to Cigaro are so completely stupid! I guess they had to put out something their fans could relate to. Besides I'm sure it would get boring having an album full of Bush hating songs.

Those boys need to be careful anyway. If anyone from the department of immigration hears their crap they may be looking for their green cards.

Good post dude, you were quite reserved in your bashing. Are you feeling alright? I have to agree with your stance though. They could be whatever and you wouldn't like them. good enough. They don't move me one way or the other. Some good, some bad.

I will give them the fact that they are original. Any group who try to overly associate themselves with political or "politically correct" causes only succeed in distracting the audience from their music. This band had an awesome cover of "The Metro" but beyond that, they quickly become tiring before passing into outright grating. Oh well, if there was no market for their music they would not continue to be a band, I suppose.
