SYSTEM OF A DOWN To Play SOULS 2005 Benefit Concert In April?

According to SOADOnline.net, SYSTEM OF A DOWN are rumored to be planning a "Souls 2005" benefit concert on April 24 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
The concert will raise awareness of the World War I-era mass murders of Armenians by Turkey's Ottoman Empire, which Turkey and several other nations, including the U.S., refuse to recognize as genocide.
Members of SYSTEM OF A DOWN — Serj Tankian (vocals), Daron Malakian (guitars), Shavo Odadjian (bass), and John Dolmayan (drums) — are all of Armenian descent, and have been very active in supporting this cause for years. "Souls 2004", which took place on April 24, 2004 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, was among the band's most recent efforts to raise awareness of the Armenian Genocide and other global abuses of human rights.
"Mesmerize", the first half of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's new double album, "Mesmerize/Hypnotize", is scheduled for release on May 17. "Hypnotize" is due out sometime this fall.

I was listening to toxicity the other night, problem is, i think i listened to it to much when i was younger........it soudns lame.
ill definately check out the new albums though, cigaro sounded great!

it's for a genocide that ocurred before/during/after ww1 of millions of armenian people. it's just a scaled down version of the holocoust, but it isn't recognized by the US yet as an actual genocide so they're helping to bring awareness to it. it was on a bill a couple years go to be recognized, but i believe that bill got scrapped so it's still not officially recognized, but i could be wrong. how about a mini tour before they run to europe all summer..it'd be nice!!!!

The current administration was trying to curry favor with the Turkish government in the build-up to the war on Iraq. The administration wanted to use Turkish bases to stage an invasion of Iraq from the north (the Turks eventually said "no", btw). Consequently, the bill died a quiet death. coupdemon: it's not like they invited you.

I just want to thank PolishTrollKing for really giving a boost to my self esteem. Every time I start to think I've killed way too many brain cells, a true moron like this kid comes around and makes me feel like a genius. I'm looking forward to these albums and even more, the tour. System put on a great show last time around.

The most overrated guitarist EVER!! Hell, I could be innovative too if I had a bunch of weird effects pedals, but the bottom line is, I'm a guitarist, not a fucking tap dancer.

Once again, if you don't appreciate their talents and are having a hard time understanding their lyrics, that's your problem. Shouldn't have smoked so much pot and missed soo many classes when you should've been studying.
Finally, there's a band that actually wants to do something to better this country and this earth and idiots like you not only don't get it but have the audacity to make racist remarks about them. Patriotism doesn't mean doing whatever the fucking goverment tells you to do.
What's really puzzling is that the fact that you all are supposed to be metalheads. Just in case you've forgotten, metal isn't about conforming to society, it isn't about being blindly "patriotic" and following the "leader". It's about paving your own path and thinking for yourself. It's the least you should be able to do, living in a democtratic society.
