MASTODON To Support IRON MAIDEN In Europe

MASTODON are on the verge of securing the support slot on IRON MAIDEN's summer tour in Europe, informed sources have told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. MASTODON also in talks to play the Roskilde festival, set to take place June 30-July 3 in Roskilde, Denmark. Also scheduled to perform at the festival are BLACK SABBATH, AUDIOSLAVE and GREEN DAY, among others.
As previously reported, MASTODON recently completed work on the second music video from their award-winning album, "Leviathan".
The video, for the song "Blood and Thunder", was shot on location at the Star Bar in the band's hometown of Atlanta, GA. Produced and directed by Jonathan Rej (MAN OR ASTROMAN, FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER, STRETCH ARMSTRONG) for Authority Films, the new MASTODON video is expected to be conceptual in nature, with a "top-secret" treatment and storyline that, "is far-and-away different than most any modern day music video". MASTODON's "Blood and Thunder" is expected to make its world network premiere(s) imminently.
Currently in the midst of a headlining tour of Europe, MASTODON will launch their first U.S. headlining tour of 2005 on March 23 at the House of Blues in New Orleans, LA.

i dont like to bash bands, but i dont understand all the hype with this band? seen them live once, not impressed. shadows fall, lamb of god, killswitch engage are the bands getting some real good recognition lately but mastadon doesnt belong on this list.... ill pass......

It's nice that Mastodon will get some much-deserved exposure by touring with Iron Maiden, even though Iron Maiden don't deserve to be associated with a band as good as Mastodon.
Poll: am I the only one here who likes Mastodon infinitely better than Iron Maiden?

was a big old disappointment on this last tour. I dont really want to hear a bunch of new stuff to be honest. I know they have to promote the album but maybe do 2 sets. People really want to hear the old obscure shit. Hell, Take dianno out and do a killers miniset...move into the bulk of the classic shit and then do another miniset of everything from somewhere on.
motorhead, coc & zeke is already tour of the year. neither of these bands even com close to COC let alone the legenday MOTORHEAD. I like mastadon but they could use a good guitar tech. Leviathon sounds like they just plugged in a les paul to thier parents hi-fi and recorded it.

Mastodon are complete crap. I saw them with KSE and the mighty SLAYER and they were a waste of time. I dont know why n e one likes them. Stay away from my Maiden!

It's taken me a while to get into them, but they're a badass band, and I think it's cool that they might be touring with Maiden. I wish I was there to see that, but i'm happy to be seeing Mastodon on May 3rd. It's gonna' be one hell of a show.

Original?? When?? You can't hear the Neurosis riffs? Dude if they didnt have that hyper drummer, NOBODY would listen to them. They are sloppy, noisy, run-of-the-mill musicians. I could write better riffs in my sleep. And play them better too.

I live here in ATL, I've known those dudes for years. They practice right down the road from my house.
You should see them pose for pictures - rolling up their sleeves to show their 'metal' tattoos, sticking their chests out to look tough, primping and prissing, worrying about their image...
Unless you live here, you just dont know....all the bands hate them cuz they rip off everybody!! Song titles, riffs, even equipment configurations, recording techniques, you name it! If you knew them you would hate them like we all do.
There have been way better bands to come out of Atlanta in years past.

mastodon,lamb of god,k.engage,slipknot etc etc...basically i am still stuck in the 70 s and 80 s n early 90 s...i find all the nu metal and the new wave rather jarring......and yes i aint old=)i jus like the 70 s prog stuff=)...
iron maiden are legends and a good pure metal band and i dont know if mastodon is indeed a good fit.....

I'm really looking forward to seeing your Mastodon cover band open for Mastodon and show these guys how mediocre they are.

They used to be in a band called "Four-Hour Fogger". They used to open for my band.
They sucked.
Then they swapped some members with "Today is the Day" and formed Mastodon - which wasn't any better.
They STILL suck.
THey miss notes, they're out of tune, they sound fuzzy, they steal Neurosis riffs on every song....
How is that "Incredible" or "Amazing"?? These dudes are over-rated.

When exactly did Mastodon amaze you??? It was those original tattoos, wasn't it? Or maybe the pork chops?
Or was it the drop-D tuning??
Or those incredibly unique, original vocals???
Or that fuzzy guitar sound (cerca 1968)?
WOW!!!!! I really AM impressed!
