ANTHRAX: 'Among The Living' Lineup To Play One-Off Show In Chicago Next Month
- Mar. 8, 2005
|
|
|
ANTHRAX have confirmed a one-off show at the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois on April 30 with the classic "Among the Living" lineup, featuring singer Joey Belladonna, guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Spitz, drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello. This will be the only U.S. show the band will do prior to their European summer festival run. House of Blues Internet presale starts Wednesday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. and ends Thursday, March 10 at 10:00 p.m. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m.
As previously reported, ANTHRAX's "Among the Living" lineup has been confirmed for the following European festivals during May-July:
May 07 – Hellendoorn, NETH @ Dynamo Open Air Jun. 09-11 – Sölvesborg, SWE @ Sweden Rock Jun. 11-12 – Bologna, ITA @ Gods of Metal Jun. 24-26 – Le Mans, FRA @ Fury Fest Jun. 24-16 – Tolmin, SLO @ Metal Camp Jul. 1-3 - Löbnitz (near Leipzig), GER @ With Full Force
ANTHRAX's "Among the Living" lineup is said to be planning a series of North American dates this summer, including an appearance at the 10th anniversary edition of Ozzfest. Sharon Osbourne is believed to have promised ANTHRAX a slot at this year's Ozzfest but only on the condition that they perform with the classic lineup that was responsible for some of the band's most successful albums.

After erasing Scott and Charlie's enemies Joey and Danny from the band over a period of a decade, and having a successful frontman in John Bush, to do this is the biggest sellout lame ass move of the year. They will lose all their fans of the last 15 years basically. And right after "the greater of two evils", which was a redone classic track best of so no one will ever have to buy or hear Joeys high pitched wails. (great follow up tour!) Charlie and Scott HATE Danny and Joey, and have insulted them in numerous articles I have read. They are willing to insult the fans of the last decade, and play on stage with enemies all for a few bucks and a little publicity. No one even remembers who the fuck Joey and Danny were. They would walk the streets of North America and NEVER be approached or recognized by anyone. That's how much a demand there is for these has-beens. How insulting to John Bush. Fuckin sick greedy bastards. Disgusting. And this is coming from a supporter of Anthrax for almost 20 fucking years.

Really, old Anthrax was great and the newer stuff they recorded with Bush is unfortunately inferior. The classic lineup doing only classic songs should KILL. And yeah, we dont need to hear Bring the Noise even with the classic lineup. No one cares, give us your own songs.

Scott and Charlie watch their fanbase turn against them as they shamelessly munch on Sharon Osbourne's pussy.
Hope the table scraps she throws you are real tasty. What will you do after the summer? After the 'fans' get their fill of nostalgia and you're left only with a singer and guitarist that you can't stand. Won't you be surprised when you try to return to your real fans only to realize that they have turned their back on you. Not because of which singer they prefer, but because you've revealed yourself for who you really are and how little integrity you truly have.
All hail John Bush...lead singer of ARMORED FUCKING SAINT!!!

There will always be the whiny little bitches bitchin and pitching a bitch. How's that?
Ever since Joey left, Anthrax's albums have plain sucked. I don't blame John Bush as he is without a doubt the superior vocalist and a great frontman. However, Anthrax lost something when the original line up split. Though Joey sounds a bit like a cartoon, it was a definitive part of the classic Anthrax sound. It wasn't just the vocals; the tunes lost the feel too.
And the people bitched.
The fans yearned for the classic thrash band that was so important to the scene. Now the classic line-up is back, even if only temporarily. Its what all the old-school metallers and the even the younger heads that rediscovering the early classics have been waiting for.
And still you bitch.
It must suck to be in a successful metal band these days, because the fans today are such flakey whiney bitches.

Joey is and always will be THE voice of Anthrax. Saw the classic lineup three times in the late 80s/early 90s and they OWNED. Lost interest after they booted Joey.
John Bush IS a GREAT frontman/singer, but he is not the voice of 'Thrax. Sorry kids.
Chicago HOB is a killer venue. Wish I could make that show.

I have ALL the Anthrax albums including the one with Neil Turbin. Still prefer Joey. Sorry dude. Having a PREFERENCE and STATING it does not make one an idiot, junior. I never insulted John Bush. I just (again) STATED A PREFERENCE. Name calling won't change that.

a little while back, I spun Journey's 'Frontiers' (what an awesome album) against Anthrax 'State Of Euphoria', looking for this often alluded-to similarity between Perry and Belladonna's vocals. It's like comparing Warrel Dane to Aaron Lewis.

Liked Bush at the Dimebag Tribute... But Belladonna is better. I first saw Anthrax at the Metro 1985 and then many times after that... Bush is NOT Anthrax... he was a "nice" substitute... he is NO Belladonna. What would most of you know? How many times did you see Belladonna live? Hell I was War dancing while most of your diapers were being changed...
here's a little bio. hell even big corporate blowhards at MTV didn't like Bush frontin' the band...Oh and for all you Bush fans. I'm not dissin' him...He's just not Anthrax style. End Of Story _______________________________________
"Belladonna helped take the band farther away from conventional metal clichés, and over the next five albums (with the exception of 1988's State of Euphoria, where the band sounded like they were in a creative straitjacket), Anthrax arguably became the leaders of speed metal. As the '80s became the '90s, they also began to increase their experiments with hip-hop, culminating in a tour with Public Enemy in 1991 and a joint re-recording of PE's classic "Bring the Noise." After their peak period of the late '80s,
Anthrax kicked Belladonna out of the band in 1992 and replaced him with ex-Armored Saint vocalist John Bush -- a singer that was gruffer and deeper, fitting most metal conventions perfectly. Subsequently, their sound became less unique and their audience shrank slightly as a consequence,
and after signing to Elektra for 1993's Sound of White Noise, the group left the label after just one more album, 1995's Stomp 442. At that point, Anthrax -- now a four-piece consisting of Ian, Bush, Bello, and drummer Charlie Benante -- built their own studio in Yonkers, NY, and after a three-year hiatus returned with their Ignition label debut The Threat Is Real, Vol. 8. 1999 saw the release of Anthrax's very first "hits" collection, titled Return of the Killer A's: The Best Of, also their first release for the Beyond label. The album included a cover of "Ball of Confusion," which featured a duet between current frontman Bush and former vocalist Belladonna"

Anthrax fucking rocks, no matter who's singing. I love the old stuff, I love the new stuff. Two different styles, but neither sucks.
Anyone who's readin this far and wants to go to that show... for some reason Ticketmaster is already selling the tickets - I got mine last night. They're not supposed to go on sale to the public till tomorrow morning according to what I heard, but they're on sale now.
