DREAM THEATER: New Album Details Revealed - Mar. 12, 2005
DREAM THEATER have completed work on their eighth full-length studio album, entitled "Octavarium", tentatively set for release through Atlantic Records on June 7. The track listing is as follows:

01. The Root of All Evil
02. The Answer Lies Within
03. These Walls
04. I Walk Beside You
05. Panic Attack
06. Never Enough
07. Sacrificed Sons
08. Octavarium

DREAM THEATER began writing and recording their latest album last November at the Hit Factory studios in New York City. The follow-up to 2003's "Train of Thought" will hold the distinction of being the very last album ever recorded at the world-famous recording facility.

DREAM THEATER's 2005/2006 world tour will kick off on June 10 in Sweden with a leg of European festivals and select headlining shows which will then be followed by a North American leg throughout July/August as part of a "package" tour with several other bands. More information will be made available soon.

Upcoming DREAM THEATER shows:

Jun. 10 - Sweden Rock Festival - Sölvesborg, Sweden
Jun. 11 - Arrow Rock Festival - Lichtenvoorde, Holland
Jun. 12 - Buchholz Footballstadium - Zurich, Switzerland
Jun. 13 - Posthof - Linz, Austria
Jun. 18 - Lorca Rock Festival - Murcia, Spain
Jun. 21 - Amphiteatre - Fucecchio, Italy
Jun. 22 - Piazza Del Popolo - Ascoli Piceno, Italy
Jun. 23 - Villa Pisani - Padova, Italy
Jun. 25 - Le Parc Des Princes - Paris, France
Jun. 26 - Graspop Festival - Dessel, Belgium

*laughs*...

That is a good one...These guys destroy practically 90% of the bands in existence...I have seen very few who could match their overall musicianship....I am flying to europe to see them this summer.....

Seems you have the market cornered on two facets. Being next in the long line of gay first post artists, and being clueless on actual great music. Dream Theater are leaders in their genre, not to mention a killer live act and really nice people in this business of idiots. Theres not too many bands that can incorporate actual technical brilliance, and the ablity to cover so many different styles and layers to each release they offer. Go back to listening to your nu-bullshit and your pop drivel

i know it must be hard for someone with the attention span of a 1yr.d to get into bands that actualy know how to play thier instraments and write quality songs. but give them a listen sometime and you might discover there is more to music than than playing as fast as you can and growling instead of singing.

I used to like dream theater

then...

puberty ended, and i got laid. I put away all of my fantasy games

and

grew up.

I still see why i liked them but...c'mon.

they suck compared to so many bands that came before them. They where ground breaking in terms of metal and technicality but technicality at the expense of musicality is just stupid.

dream theater licks dirty ass

everything else rules (even your shitty garagebands)

Needs to be run over by a train. Train of Thought is the fluffiest disc Dream Theater ever made so far. Swear to God, if it wasn't strictly a metaphor, I could use the damn thing as a pillow. And if I did, I would have gotten more use out of it than I have since I got it when it came out.

Obviously, gor based his opinion of Dream Theater on his experience with Six Degrees of Adult Contemporary Lounge Rock. Dream Theater hasn't done anything worth hearing since 2001 when the Live In New York discs came out to celebrate the last worthwhile album they ever made. I'm glad I was part of such an awesome show, but if I knew then what would come after, it would have sucked all the fun out of it. I really hope this new one puts Dream Theater back where their throne was in the prog METAL kingdom. At least some of those titles look like they could acutal metal songs as opposed the titles of the last couple of records. We'll see...

Falling into infinity sucked, but they turned back around. Train of Thought is exactly like thier other stuff...only tuned down. "Oh they had a decent album back in 1991...." Fuck that. They are a JAM BAND. Thier songs are ten minutes long. Deal with it or listen to your old Dio records. Christ, I've never read so many pathetic, whining posts. This band gets criticized more than any other, but NO ONE can out-play them. Plus, they are amazing live as long as the soundman turns down Petrucci's vocal mic.

..........your not "in the business" so how the fuck would you know? Aside from James(he is a bit of a drama queen) they are all pretty down to earth and top notch musicians. If anything their ego's are smaller than they should be.
