AUDIOSLAVE Has Finally Arrived - Mar. 14, 2005
Canada's Chart Attack is reporting that AUDIOSLAVE are planning a North American tour from April 7 to 30, including a confirmed show at Toronto's Kool Haus April 26, with a second date in Vancouver soon to be announced.

AUDIOSLAVE will release their as-yet-untitled new album May 16. The album's first single, "Be Yourself", has hit radio this week with a video promised for April, but few other details about the disc have emerged.

Last week, guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk spoke to Chart Attack in Los Angeles, explaining the veil of secrecy surrounding the new album.

"I think now is about the right time for fans to be pulled out of the dark and into the light," says Wilk. "We figure the less we talk and the more we let the music talk, the better."

"The last time, our music was released on the internet eight months beforehand. So this time, mum’s the word," agrees Morello.

Six songs from the upcoming release were played for international media in L.A.. In addition to "Be Yourself", the disc is scheduled to include the tracks "Your Time Has Come", "The Curse", "#1 Zero", "Doesn’t Remind Me" and "Out Of Exile".

"AUDIOSLAVE the band has arrived," says Wilk. "The first record was people from two other bands with history attached. I don't feel that with this record."

"The main difference between this record and any other record that we've done is that it felt that the songs were completely generated on the spot," continues Morello. "At least as far as my contributions go. Normally, I make a long list of riffs, I do a lot of self-censoring beforehand. This time, I could just step into rehearsal and I just see what happened. It felt more instantaneous. I think that helped lead to the diversity of the material, and the confidence that no matter what it was we played that we would like the results."

I've been dreading this day. I guess I'll just whack on a Soundgarden album (or maybe Euphoria Morning), stick my head in the sand and try to pretend that this whole Audioslave thing is just all in my head... I KNEW smoking all that pot when I was younger would come back to bite me in the ass.

"Um, Chris? This is your doctor.

We've confirmed from those tests that you're not Bono and neither is Tom Morello.

Through testing, we've also found that your band is not U2. Please, stop trying to be like them. Thanks, bye."

morello is waaaay overrated..... cornells voice is one of the best in rock..........soundgarden are very UNDERRATED musicians...

and at least they made different sounding albums......
rage kept making the same one over and over.... .BORING!

audioslave are ok i guess...but no where near as good as soundgarden or cornells solo stuff.......

saw audioslave on their first world tour....and cornells voice was way better than on the first album........i hope this next one is better

Have you guys that say "Chris Cornell sucks as a singer" been listening to the same Soundgarden albums the rest of the world got?! Chris Cornell is nothing short of fucking AMAZING!! And a smoker, to boot (Smokers Unite!!). Why he feels the need to slum it with a talentless sperm socket like Tom Morello will remain one of life's great mysteries. I'm hoping someone will be able to capture if and when Morello's effects patch-bay comes unplugged on stage, and he is exposed as amateurish hack he is...

....Tom Morello was/is a really, really good guitar player that opted to use his brain and come up with something that sounded original & unique (that stood out from all the whheeeeddlllers and wankers that were left over from the late 80's/early 90's).

I saw him in his pre-Rage band Lock-Up (they were on Geffen for a minute; I know, not the Death/Black Metal (or whatever) Lock-Up).....and he had chops for days......

these guys could have easily been the next Zeppelin, and after their mediocre first release, they'd better bring something amazing to the table, otherwise they're gonna be nothing but a parody of their respective ex-bands.

I was greatly dissappointed with their first album. Maybe I set the bar too high, but Rage and SG were two of my favorite bands. Anywho, hopefully all the talk is not bullsh!t. I'll pick this one up in hopes of them actually improving. But sadly. this is their last chance.

Fuck...only tuesday.

I think Rage was one of the most annoying fucking bands I've ever heard!!! Alongside Limp Bizkit. I love Soundgarden... Audioslave falls in the middle. WORLDS ahead of Rage Against The Machine... but still nowhere near Soundgarden's calibre. I'll still buy this though... they have good songs in them. Like A Stone was awesome.
