SLIPKNOT Percussionist CLOWN Leaves Tour Due To Wife's Illness

SLIPKNOT performed at Lowell, MA's Tsongas Arena Tuesday night (March 15) without percussionist Clown (No. 6) — also known as Shawn Crahan — who had to leave the band's current tour because his wife is ill with Crohn's disease. Earlier this month, Clown was forced to miss the group's appearance on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" for the same reason. Lead singer Corey Taylor dedicated the band's "Conan" performance to Crahan and his family as the song started. No further information is available on Crahan's wife's condition.
Roadrunner Records will issue a 2-CD special edition of SLIPKNOT's "Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)" on April 12. The release will feature exclusive new packaging, and a disc full of bonus music. The eight bonus tracks are as follows: "Don't Get Close" and "Scream" (both non-album tracks from the "Vol. 3" sessions), "Vermilion" (Terry Date mix), "Danger - Keep Away" (original full-length version of the album track), "The Blister Exists", "Three Nil", "Disasterpiece", and "People=Shit" (all live tracks).
As previously reported, "Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)" was certified platinum last month by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments in excess of 1 million copies in the United States. "Vol. 3" has yielded Modern and Active Rock radio hits with "Duality", "Vermilion", and now "Before I Forget". SLIPKNOT's first arena tour in three years is doing great numbers, with 75 percent of tickets pre-sold in some markets. Supporting at all dates are SHADOWS FALL and LAMB OF GOD.

It's not the first time that they play with 8 on the podium.
Almost the Whole European tour happend without Craigh (samplers)
But it must be special without the clown, I guess Chriss can't take all his parts!
I hope for Shawn that everything gets better soon with his wife! In moments like these you can see that they are still humans behind their monster masks...

Crohn's disease is an extremely serious, and debilitating illness. i have an ex girlfriend with it, and, at it's worse, she basically spent hours on end in the bathroom. Not fun, and therefore i can understand why he is home with the wife, and not touring. Sounds like her case of Crohn's disease is serious.

I was at the show in Lowell. He was also out of the 2 shows before us though.
Some of the other guys stepped up to fill in on some of his parts.

what's your beef dude?
a percussionist belongs in a reggae band and a sampler in a techno outfit, and in any case none of these add fucking anything to slipknot's music, I recently heard vol.3 which is a mediocre "extreme" metal album and I didn't notice anything worthwhile being done on percussion or samples... that's just crap... you want electronic elements in extreme metal? listen to fucking Dodheimsgard or Samael... there are bands with 2 or 3 members doing 10 times better music than slipknot... let alone 9.... of course if you're one of these nu-metal ninja fanboys then ignore my words and just fuck off too....

Yep. I was at the show last night in Virginia. He wasnt there and Corey said his wife was in serious condition in the hospital.
It was cool watching sid run back and forth during every song from the top of the risers, where his turntables were, back down to clowns drum kit to do his parts. and then he would run right back up. it was classic.

Hey Sovard Crohns isn't mainly caused by what you eat. I have it and live with it daily. It's caused by extreme amounts of stress and an exposure to that stress. Thats where I got mine from. Oh and btw there's no cure for it. Food has nothing to do with it. Next time do a little research before you open your mouth.
PS. Crohns is not in anyway, shape or form funny. If you aren't careful and don't keep up with your medicine you could lose a good portion of your intestinal tract.

If I remember correctly, just a couple months ago, some of these same people were pissing and moaning about how people could be so rude and cruel about someone being in pain and dying. Yet, here they are, doing exactly what they were pissing and moaning about. Way to be complete hypocrites.
I don't care for Slipknot, but Shawn, as a person is a cool guy. I wish him and his family all the best
And to you idiots who will continue to rag on him and his wife's illness...grow the fuck up...it's assholes like you that make me ashamed to be a metalhead.

You are absolutely right, crohns is very serious. I have it, and a close friend of mine has it. They kept misdiagnosing him and he ended up dropping 45 lbs in a month because of it. They caught me early enough, but it's still something hard to live with. Stomach pains are the worst with it, and being in high stress environments don't help. Well I hope she gets better.

and i am a drummer, i listen to it. joey is amazing, all they do is play off the rythms joey makes. its just extra noise they dont need. its a gimmick.
