MOTÖRHEAD To Release 30th-Anniversary Double DVD In July - Mar. 23, 2005
MOTÖRHEAD will be issuing a 30th anniversary DVD on July 4 via SPV Records. The two-disc set will feature the band's December 2004 concert in Düsseldorf, Germany on one disc and a documentary feature on the second disc. More information will be made available soon.

MOTÖRHEAD are planning to commemorate the milestone with a concert at London's Hammersmith Odeon on June 16. Female metal group GIRLSCHOOL will also be on the bill. Frontman Lemmy told ABC ePrep that the rest of the lineup is still tentative, although he'd like British metal band SAXON to be on the bill.

As previously reported, MOTÖRHEAD's legendary "Ace of Spades" LP is the focus of Eagle Entertainment's latest installment of its "Classic Album" DVD series. Released on Tuesday (March 22), "Ace of Spades: Classic Album" sees bandmembers Lemmy, "Fast" Eddie Clarke and Philip "Philthy Animal" Taylor talking candidly about the writing and recording of the album and the goings on inside the MOTÖRHEAD camp at the time. Watch "Fast" Eddie as he demonstrates how the riff for "Ace of Spades" came about, and see the trio (with the help of modern technology) together on the same stage once again. Each song on the album is discussed and tales from the studio/road are remembered. Bonus material consists of live instrumental versions of "(We Are) The Road Crew" and "The Chase Is Better Than The Catch", performed exclusively for the DVD, and "A Piece Of Lemmy's Mind" interview from Hollywood's Rainbow Room. Extended interviews with Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER), Lars Ulrich (METALLICA) and Dave Brock (HAWKWIND) peek deeper into MOTÖRHEAD's songwriting process, the man that is Lemmy Kilmister and the story of how he was "relieved of his position" as bassist in HAWKIND. "Ace of Spades: Classic Album" has a list price of $14.98 and a total running time of 50 minutes plus bonus footage.

While nobody will argue that Motorhead hasn't done anything new since Overkill (which is not necessarily a bad thing). their influence and importance is undeniable.

This should probably be a pretty cool DVD

Basically a joke band. Can't believe they are still around. Spinal Tap...in real life. Lemmy has NEVER written ANYTHING worth a shit. They've lived off of image. Kind of like BLS does. Shit songs, but an image people think is "cool."

And if you don't like it you can just fuck off. Keep in mind, if there was no Motorhead, these would be No Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, Exodus...and like almost any metal band around.

At least Lemmy is a real rock star who lives for the music, unlike these overpaid, overprivledged, overrated whining pussy ass motherfuckers around now, who whine if you don't get their cheese tray right, or their special brand of orange juice they requested on their riders...Fuckin pussies!!

Lemmy is 100% rock n roll, and has been at it and lived the life for 40 years...show some respect where respect is due, or go jump in front of a bus.

Anybody with the smallest amount of intellect knows the importance of Lemmy and Motorhead, from rock/hard rock/punk/speed metal/heavy metal....Lemmy's influenced them all. Motorhead certainly is certainly no joke children...the fakes don't survive as long as Motorhead have.

And to the jackass who said lemmy had never written anything worth a shit....obviously you can't read above a 3rd grage level. Otherwise you wouldn't say such a stupid comment like that.

Cheers to Lemmy on the first 30 years...hope there are many more to come.

Lemmy is God

I will be getting this DVD, no doubt.

and to the fuckhole who said that Lemmy hasn't written a song worth a shit in his career, he obviously hasn't heard these songs:

Damage Case
Eat The Rich
I Ain't No Nice Guy
Hellraiser
You Better Run
Born To Raise Hell
Bad Woman
Liars
Overnight Sensation
Whorehouse Blues

There's shitloads more of great Lemmy songs, but I don't need to tell you all this. In closing, OVERKILL!!!

To disrespect Motorhead is to betray your own ignorance. Motorhead was incredibly important to the development of Metal. Even if you don't like their music, you should respect them for what they've done for the genre.

' While nobody will argue that Motorhead hasn't done anything new since Overkill...'

Uh, I will!

Acoustic ballads, slide blues, wierd drum patterns and sounds, horn sections, swirling organ solos, cellos, and songs that weren't even 'songs'-just Lemmy reciting.

To hear an album like 'Bastards' or '1916', 'Overnight Sensation' or even 'Another Perfect Day' and proclaim it to be 'nothing new' is to announce to the world that you have a massive and undenialble hearing problem!
