KITTIE Frontwoman Says Guitarist And Bassist Have Both Left The Band

KITTIE frontwoman Morgan Lander has posted the following message on the band's official message board:
"Alright, I know that what has happened with Lisa [Marx, ex-KITTIE guitarist] comes as a shock to all of you. It was a shock to all of us too. Things haven't been said in a press release up until this point with good reason however. Not only has Lisa decided to leave the band, but Jennifer [Arroyo, bass] has decided to leave too. I figured we should get this all out into the open while we still can.
"We discussed Jennifer's departure with her, and with a heavy heart, she said she can no longer continue with KITTIE, so she will be continuing on with SUICIDE CITY full-time.
"There was no press release for Lisa when she decided to leave because we had decided with Jen that we should wait until April 1st to let this all out of the bag, both from her end and ours. This is an amicable departure!
"Now the reasons...I feel that there are only a few real factors that came into play regarding this happening with both Lisa and Jennifer...
"For the past few years, Artemis Records has denied us critical things like tour support, movie soundtracks, advertisement placement and other critical things that help a band to keep making money and pay the people that needed to be paid, like Jen and Lisa. Within the last 6 months, things became so financially bad that we were no longer able to keep the girls on retainer, that is give them a salary while we are not touring. Not only were we not able to pay them, but we came home from the last tour not knowing what was next for the band.
"It is a sad fact, but ALL of this is happening because our label is destroying us, and these girls jumped from the sinking ship while they still could. Unfortunately for Mercedes [Lander, drums] and I, we have to continue on if Artemis renews our option, whether our hearts are in it or not...
"Jen has been with us for 3 years, and she has seen the hardship, and experienced the pain and sadness in knowing that as long as we are with the label, we will never be where we know KITTIE can be. She is a smart girl, and a hungry person, and she knows the trouble with the label first hand...
"We don't blame the girls for leaving. Financially and emotionally, our troulble with the label has done nothing but break our spirits. How can we insure a future for them when we DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT OURS WILL BE? As long as we are with Artemis, I can't guarantee anything...
"We love all of the girls, and wish them the best of luck...It's just so sad."

1. Maybe a label can't get you things like tour support, movie soundtracks, etc. if you suck and no one is interested in your 'product'.
2. Maybe you should have been smarter than to re-sign w/ a label you sued previously for supposedly mishandling finances and screwing you out of money you were supposedly entitled to. But I guess, since you suck no other label would have you...
3. Go away. You suck. And the lack of success you experience is because, well, you suck.

...a band like Kittie can get the kind of recording and promotion options they did, while awesome bands like [insert the name of just about ANY better, poorer and probably lesser known band here] have to work crappy dayjobs, live off two-minute noodles and jack off with cooking oil because they can't afford Vaseline is a fucking sorry state of affairs if ever there was.

One thing that just doesn't make sense, why would anyone again work w/ a label that supposedly did them so wrong that they ended up in litigation w/ them? Just doesn't make sense to again work w/ a label they not only had no confidence in, but that supposedly stole from them, unless they couldn't find another label interested after their lawsuit was settled, or they were dumb enough to include working w/ them as part of their settlement.
And really it does a label no good not to properly market a band, so I really don't believe the excuse that its the labels fault they didn't do well. In all seriousness, maybe its time for the band, if they can be called that, to really consider whether, or not what they offer is really something worthwhile to music fans, at large, and to possibly pack it in, call it a day, shove off, etc.

They suck or this band and that band suck, I wonder if we are listening to 11 year olds. People who play music play whats inside them at their own ability. If any of the slaggers out here actually played in a band I would shit, because that is just bad Karma to begin with and it shows no respect. So Flamers instead of posting insesently (sic) about how bands suck, pick up an intrument and learn to play it then get in front of people and say listen to me.

i think they've gotten better with every release since 'Spit'. the new album i'd say is their best. the screaming sounds cool, but i think they should lay off the clean vocals. she isn't that good at those.
oh yeah, this news sucks. i like Kittie.

Wheather you like it or not, Kittie were signed prematurely. They were only kids who could barely play their instruments. Now they just are just getting by with the basic skills that they have aquired over the year. The label obviously realized this and decided not to support them. I'm not going to rant about my opinion on Kittie, but this is the truth.

Kittie are kids trying to play like adults. The drummer can barely hold a beat together live. She is an amateur stuck trying to play pro.
Of course their albums got better. They had more money budgeted for tweeking in Pro Tools. The drum tracks sound great. Beat detection plugins work great....
They suck. That's why the girls quit. Plus the bass player was too good looking for the band; it detracted from the ugly mug of the lead singer.

I am a musician in a band trying to make it while living and playing live in the Bay Area. It gets expense as hell. When you are working full time, paying rent for an apartment, studio, recordings, merchandise, etc...That adds up, I bet even more for a band of their stature.
I am not bagging on you, but to play metal and try to get exposure, it costs $.
