DAMAGEPLAN Members To Appear At 2005 WAAF INDOOR BEACH PARTY - Mar. 24, 2005
Boston's WAAF 107.3 FM has announced that surviving DAMAGEPLAN members Patrick Lachman, Vinnie Paul and Bob Zilla will attend the 2005 WAAF Indoor Beach Party on Saturday, April 9 at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA. DAMAGEPLAN headlined the annual concert event in 2004 and has chosen to make one of their first public appearances since Dimebag's untimely death at the upcoming annual event.

The lineup for the 2005 WAAF Indoor Beach Party includes Zakk Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SKINDRED and NONPOINT. Tickets are available through Tsongas Arena and Ticketmaster.

A history of friendship and support stands between Dimebag Darrell and the 2005 headliner, Zakk Wylde of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.

Vinnie Paul had this to say: "DAMAGEPLAN had the opportunity to headline the WAAF Indoor Beach Party last year and it was a blast… Glad to see the tradition continue with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.

"WAAF is a true rock radio station in every sense of the word and we really appreciate their support of PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN over the years. It will be an honor to be in attendance this year as WAAF and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY pay tribute to the baddest MF I ever knew, my brother Dimebag Darrell… Let's have some black tooths and keep on keeping on…Getcha pull!!!"

Zakk honors Darrell Abbott on the newly released BLACK LABEL SOCIETY album, "Mafia", in the form of the song "In this River". Wylde is also heard on the track "Soulbleed" on DAMAGEPLAN's 2004 album, "New Found Power".

Tragedy struck the music industry when a shooting occurred at the December 8, 2004 DAMAGEPLAN concert in Columbus, OH. Guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed, as were the band's head of security, Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, an employee of the club, Erin Halk, and a member of the audience, Nathan Bray. Chris Paluska, a member of the band's management team who was serving as tour manager, was shot and put in critical but stable condition. John "Kat" Brooks, the band's drum tech, was also shot and wounded.

WAAF is offering a limited-edition t-shirt as a tribute to Dimebag Darrell. All proceeds from the sales of this piece will be donated to the Dimebag Darrell Memorial Fund. The fund covers bereavement and medical expenses for the victims and their families. The t-shirt may be purchased through www.waaf.com or at the April 9 WAAF Indoor Beach Party.

With those people being there, how about Zakk and Vinnie roping in a decent bassist and vocalist and forming a one off supergroup? That'd be a fucking tribute!!

I hope so...who would you nominate for bassist and vocalist tho? My fav would be Anselmo and Rex, but as that's far from likely I'd settle for something a little more obscure like maybe Max Cavalera on vocz (the aggression would suit, and there's a connection to Dime) and Rob Trujillo on bass

anybody ever seen Watch It Go? In the middle of it 'Kat' is smoking a ton of week through a pipe connected to a gas mask. Dime begs him to come out of it and tells him not to give it up for pot........that tells you what kind of guy he was...he truely cared about the people around him, no matter if he knew you or not, he always tried to take the edge off it seems. I never met him, never knew him, never seem him in person and I miss that motherfucker like no one will ever know.

I have always liked Pantera, I am lucky enough to have been at the right adge when Pantera came about in my life, I turned 13 when CFH came out. Most of the bands I like were in their prime in the 70's or early 80's, so I missed out on that. One of the few I caught at the right time. And if your anything like me, I absolutely suggest getting the Pantera DVD Vulgar Video's From Hell. You will totally get your pulls worth. I pop it in when I want to hang with Dime, and I get choked up seeing him taking the edge off. Dime, that should not have happened to you man....If only I could sacrifice something in my life to bring him back, I would in a heartbeat....RIP DIME.....

I don't think Vinnie should or will benefit off trying to form Pantera again. He's way too talented for that, besides I'm sure he's got cats all around him that are equally as talented. Man, I bet Vinnie never in his whole life would have thought Vinnie and Dime would come to this.....what a predicament!!!

I dont see why people dont like Zakk doing vocals. I think he does a good job, he's the only person who can sing like ozzy.

I don't think anyone will have to worry about Zakk and Vinnie getting together to do a song or two, or maybe an album someday. I don't Zakk could rest if he never colaberated with him, and this gives him a damn good reason. Dime would want him to play with Vinnie. Who else? I saw Dime in a outdoor show in Wisconsin and he RULED! RIP DIME.

" I'm the four-track King!" Dime roars. " I've pretty much always got a four-track with me and, on the rare occassions I don't, there's always my pocket recorder or the video camera. You never knoe when a riff idea is gonna come your way, so I try to always be prepared to capture them.

" I can't recommend getting a four-track enough, man! I used mine every damn day since I got it, its a total release, and the funny thing is, when your dicking around with no real preassure, thats when you invariably hit gold."

" Man, I've got thousands of songs I've done on my four-track,...some sre humorous and some are serious. If my liver don't give out on me , then maybe I'll get around to putting some of my four-track stuff out there to show some of the other sides of my playing."

" Vinnie is the guy who followed in my oldman's footsteps in the recording studio right of the bat. Hes a complete gear and gadget hound, and really knows his way around a studio. In fact, Vinnie is partly responsible for my recorded sound."

Riggs, Here's to ya hopefully polishing some of Dime's four-track stuff up and giving us a go at it.

Doubleblacktooth Grins to ya!

Get em up for Diamond and Riggs!!!

A nickname Dime had for Vinnie...

" my friends have called me DimeBag for as long as I can remember" Darrell reveals, "Diamond was my nickname to begin with, and then they started to call me DimeBag cause thats all I could ever afford! I've also been called Dime, Five and Dime and even Desmond...whatever you want it to be. Thats just something we do down south, man. We're big on nicknames. That way when you can't remember some dudes name, you just give him a new one!"

DimeBag... The coolest mother fucker to ever strap on a guitar!!!

I'm really glad to hear you are "keeping on". It will never be the same, but ya have to STAND TALL. I lost my boy that night and ya just got to surround yourself with the GOOD memories cuz nothin you can do will fix it. So get out there and feel the love. Wish I could attend. Will somebody out there have a blacktooth for me?

...greasy-assed food and Black Label Society's "Hangover Music Vol. VI" make up the bread and butter of my hangover cures. And let's not forget the shakes from McDonalds... it's milk, it's icecream, it's chicken fat... it's a MEAL!!

Seriously, it's great to see Vinnie let his hair down a bit. God knows it's been a rough few months for him, so here's hoping it gets a little better for him... he deserves it!!

Rest In Peace, Dime
