EARSHOT Hanging It Up? - Mar. 28, 2005
According to a post at AudioAggression.com, it appears that EARSHOT are no longer continuing as a band. The Los Angeles quintet, who reportedly left the MEGADETH-headlined "Blackmail the Universe" tour late last year due to a less than favorable crowd response, are said to have been dropped by Warner Bros. Records, and bassist Johnny Sprague has since joined the band SOLACE FOR NOW. To top it off, drummer Chas Stumbo signed a recent online posting at SOLACE FOR NOW's MySpace.com page as "ex-SHOT." No further information is available at this time.

We booed them offstage at the Denver Megadeth show (ironically they got dropped from the tour a day later, go figure). Earshot sucks.

At the Denver show, they started off with a couple of their own songs, but then after getting booed they did a couple Tool covers, then L Zepplins 'Moby Dick', then they flipped us off and walked off stage. Morons.

Well, you got one thing right.

But being that Blabbermouth is surrounded by "death metal fans", you have reduced yourself to extreme silliness and smallness just by assuming that...

There's plenty of Gaynard James Peenan/Tool/-Nu-Metal forums on the net for you, and we could be sure you'll find yourself very welcome there. Adios!

Don't get me wrong, I do like Tool, even though a lot of the Tool fans I've met are total sperm sockets. And I've never heard these guys, but I just thought I should stick up for my beloved death metal...

You're so right. Ditto to everything you said.

I always thought Earshot's two albums never got the best of the band out of them. There was like 4 songs on each album that really displayed what they could actually do. The rest of the album was way subpar compared to the few good songs. Which in turn made the albums weak as can be. Saw them live opening for Sevendust and they sounded alright but played a very very short set. The band opening before them played as long as they did if not longer.

I've listened to alot of music that doesn't sound anything like Cannibal Corpse, Mayhem, or Pig Destroyer. So, after listening to both 'Two' , and 'Letting Go', I'd put Earshot, Crossfade, Breaking Benjamin, and Chevelle in the same place...the circular file.

If I want diversity, i'll listen to YOB, Porcupine Tree, or Augury. Thanks.

Death Metal is all "Roar Roar Snare Snare" (to paraphrase someone who posted before me, needs to clean the fucking shit out of their ear canal. Anyone with at least VAGUELY working eardrums knows better. And I'm tired of hearing the "all the bands sound the same" argument. Anyone who can't tell Cannibal Corpse from Death from Nile from Morbid Angel from Deicide from Obituary from - you get the point - has no business posting on a metal board in the first fucking place, and should see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist post haste.

Earshot are not the only poseurs who ripped off Tool.

The 2 greatest offenders?

1. Chevelle (Maynard is still waiting for his royalty check guys)
2. Breaking Benjamins (What's worse then ripping off Tool? Creating a single that rips off Chevelle! These guys are pitiful)

I love metal with all that is in me, but one of my favorite discs from 2004 was Earshot's "Two". Of all the albums I keep going back to, this one tops them all. Earshot is an awesome band, with incredible music, and some of the best lyrics ever. To tell you the truth, the music really truly speaks to me. I really do love this band, and I'm glad I stopped being so closed-minded to non-metal music. I used to listen to only metal, but I was only depriving myself. *sigh*
I really hope Earshot is still together. I want to hear more.

"Something's wrong,
Trying to conquer these fears I thought were gone.
And it's been so long, I'm dying to live in a world i dont belong

I cant wait for someone to hear me,
And wait for someone to touch me.
And wait forever to be told,
I'm forever alone...

I cant wait for someone to feel me,
And wait for someone to heal me.
And wait forever to be told,
I'm forever alone...

On my own,
I'll show myself what it means to be alone.
And the tears i cry are washed away.
All the scars are my disguise.

I cant wait for someone to hear me,
And wait for someone to touch me.
And wait forever to be told,
I'm forever alone..."

dude learn to quote correctly, as i said nu-metal is rap with guitars, not tool. i just said tool sucks.

and i have listened to them and i like only 2 of their songs. but yes i have heard other bands who mock tool for reasons unknown.

earshot, ill have to say i like a few songs from them as well but wasnt that impressed.

but sparticle, if tool was so respected and so creative, tell me why they arent a band anymore? last i seen, parts of the band went on to make a prerfect circle(another band i dont care for)

are indeed still a band, like them or not. Sure, some members have other projects, but they're still together. And if all goes well, there will be a new album later this year.

As written earlier, I don't push anything that's considered as being subjective, which music definitely is (though many people on this site seem to think otherwise). I'd sure hate to come off as that Head guy from Korn, objectifying personal leanings and myth as law.
