SHADOWS FALL: In Talks With Two Major Labels
- Apr. 8, 2005
|
|
|
Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, is reporting that SHADOWS FALL are currently in negotiations with two major labels following the fulfillment of their commitment to Century Media Records. The Massachusetts-based band, who sold nearly 250,000 copies of their latest CD, "The War Within", in the U.S., had previously indicated that they were very happy with Century Media and had no intentions of signing with a bigger label. However, that now appears to have changed, if these latest reports are to be believed.
SHADOWS FALL have been confirmed as one of the main-stage performers at this year's Ozzfest beginning on July 15 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Fucking corporate suit and tie guys could shove their money up their ass.
What is so bad about staying with CM, or Mastodon with Relapse, or LOG with Metal Blade? These are the labels that helped them get known.
All a big label will do is promise cash up front and then fuck you out of money in the long run. Prepare to have your career driven into the ground LOG, SF and Mastodon.

this is 2005, if log, sf or mastodon sign a deal that screws themselves in any way, then quite frankly they deserve to be screwed. these bands dont need the majors, the majors need them. so take that fuckin loot boys, and have a good law firm. the only way your careers can be driven into the ground is if you are ignorant.

250K Daaaaaaammmmnn! You don't see many bands of this caliber selling this #. Old or new bands, and this is in the USA ppl not total world wide sales. And this number grows daily. SF is pure talent. Metallica comes to mind (their early days) Been aboard the SF ship since 99 and these boys never let me down yet!! SALUTE to SF Go 4 IT!!

If they go on a major, they are fucking themselves. They are much better being top dog on an indie than another 'experiment' on a major.

...well, no one fucking asked you. Get over it. Just 'cause some inner-city kids beat you up once, doesn't mean you should be an ass. SF fucking rule and if they can grab some cash, so be it. Being on a major label never ruined Maiden, Priest or Ozzy....so why not? As someone else mentioned, they just need good representation to avoid getting screwed.

the story about Mastodon signing with Warner is on page 3. Someone from Warner actually posted about signing them from the record company's perspective. Go read his/her (efranklin) post if you still have time. You don't have to believe efranklin's words; it's just...somewhat interesting. If SF goes the same route, hopefully what efranklin says about Mastodon will also hold true for whomever signs SF. You WANT to believe 'em, but...you know what they say about the road to Hell...
blessed be.

not every band, but bands that spend their who9le carrer, or at least the vocalist that spends his whole carrer singing and screaming about being anti-god and pro -violence yet belive in neither, yes they are hypocrites. they dont need to go that route

I am hoping that Shadows Fall won't get screwed by signing to a bigger label, because they are going to become something huge within the next few years. They are going to be leading the Metal flagship for the next 10-20 years and keeping our beloved genre alive.

Good question; the last band I can think of was White Zombie, but that was 12 or 13 years ago. Anyone else care to give it a try?

to see Lamb of God, Mastodon, and Shadows Fall shirts on sale at your nearest Hot Topic while you read interviews with the bands talking about how their next album will be the most "heavy" and/or "brutal" ever. Anybody want to make a bet on how long it will take? And it will take the first hater even less time to yell "sell out" if any of their next albums arent as good as New American Gospel, Leviathian, or War Within respectively. Watch and see.
