NEVERMORE Complete Recording Process For 'This Godless Endeavor' - Apr. 13, 2005
The Seattle-based quintet NEVERMORE recently completed the recording process for their highly anticipated new album, "This Godless Endeavor", at Backstage Studios in England with legendary producer Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, OPETH). The highly anticipated new offering is currently set for a summer release. This will mark the group’s first recording with guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-TESTAMENT).

NEVERMORE will embark on massive six-week summer festival tour, dubbed the Gigantour, alongside MEGADETH, DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN in late July. Warrel Dane (vocals) further describes his thoughts on the new album and upcoming tour: "We have completed the recording process for 'This Godless Endeavor' and Andy Sneap will finish mixing and mastering the record this week. It was a great experience working with Sneap again and he has really outdone himself on this record. We are also really psyched up for Gigantour. It's great to part of a tour that is focused on musicianship instead of current trends. This summer is going to be great."

In other news, the new version of the group's critically acclaimed 2003 album "Enemies of Reality", remixed by Sneap, is now available. It was repackaged with altered cover artwork, two promotional video clips (the title track and "I, Voyager") and a live video of the title track performed at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival this past summer.

The remixed "Enemies of Reality" will replace the existing version of the album in stores. Fans who have already purchased the record and want to hear the new edition can special order it from the CenturyMedia.com web shop, where the CD itself will be sold individually (i.e., without jewel case and artwork) for $5, including shipping. The disc will be mailed in a CD sleeve; a link to a special web site containing the downloadable revised artwork will be included in order confirmation e-mails.

I will wait 'till I hear the new album to pass my opinion on it.

I like the earliest Nevermore albums more than recent anyway.
Sanctuary blows away anything Nevermore have done IMO.
But Nevermore are still pretty good for an American band.

metaluntildeath: You are so fucking right.

coupdemon: Dreaming and Enemies (remastered!) would be #s 1 and 3 on the list. You've got to get Dead Heart in a Dead World (#2), since they rely on that disc so much for their live sets. Also ripping are The Politics of Ecstasy (4) and the Believe in Nothing EP (5).

1. Dreaming Neon Black
2. Dead Heart In A Dead World
3. Enemies of Reality
4. Poltiics of Ecstacy
5. Nevermore
6. In Memory

That is the order based on my mood right now but 2, 3 & 4 change order constantly. The self titled is good and In Memory gets last because it is only an EP but is great. Basically, you're not going to go wrong with any of them. At 32 years of age, they are my favorite band (have been ever since Dreaming came out). They definitely took the place in my music loving heart that Metallica held up through Justice.

You like mallcore? You like fagtastic guitar farts and pop song structure? Get your paws on Dead Heart, the WORST thing ever produced by Nevermore.

Their best is their second, Politics. Can't find it? Neon Black is just as good, and the Memory EP is no slouch either. The debut isn't bad, and the newly redone album Enemies is a far cry from the rest of the catalogue, but owns Dead Heart in every way imaginable. And Black Violin is right; Sanctuary obliterates anything Nevermore ever even dreamed of.

Sorry about KSE; got them confused with DEP because they BOTH FUCKING SUCK.

Neon Black...probably top 3 metal albums ever for me personally. It is a fucking atmospheric thrash metal OPUS with some of the best vocals (Poison God Machine anyone?) ever committed to record. Second I'd have to go with Politics, if not only for 'This Sacrament'. Didn't like EOR too much, but will be getting the remastered version.

BackInTheVillage: Dillinger Escape Plan don't suck. It's OK to dislike a band if their style don't appeal to you, but they definetly know what they're doing, and Miss Machine is among my favourites from 2004. I saw them in Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago and they simply ruled. Perhapt my best concert experience ever.

And Nevermore rule BTW...
I do agree with you that Dead heart wasn't their best efford, though...

Where on centurymedia.com is the $5 version of the remixed Enemies of Reality? I can only find the full package offer.

I think it is hard to prioritize the Nevermore catalog. To me the last 3 albums are almost equally as good. The first 2 albums are great too, but very different sounding from each other and what they do now. Just get them all!

Sanctuary was good, but back then, that style of music was big and their old guitar player was writing grunge tunes before they broke up. You want trendy, you got trendy.

Nevermore and Dream Theater are PROGRESSIVE bands, they don't stick to what's cool in metal today they go in another dirction.

Oh and by the way, you keep talking about how the guitar tone on Dead Heart is worse than the DNB tone when in reality, the tones are EXACTLY the same. The difference is that Loomis is using a seven string guitar on Dead Heart. Way to go doofus, you know nothing.

Enemies Of Reality is easily their best album anyway.

It clearly says that the tour is focused on MUSICIANSHIP rather than current trends. Meaning that this tour is going to feature bands that, despite what genre they are, have their own special talent. Nevermore has Loomis (easily the best guitarist in years), Dream Theater has... well everyone because they're all talented, FF and DEP have a fantastic rythm section and while you may not like either band (I hate them), there is a notable improvement in their technical skills as opposed to the other lame metalcore/nu metal bands.

i've only heard a handful of their songs a few times over the years, and don't really remember which ones, but i have two questions.....one, how on Earth is it that these guys don't move a couple hundred thousand units of each album?, and they're pretty fucking good, and two.....how on Earth does SHIT like Velvet Revolver go platinum when bands like these guys go criminally ignored?!!!???

just curious as to if anyone can possibly clear those questions up for me at all......

the reason why Nevermore don't sell like crazy is summed up in three words: no commercial airplay. In the NY tri state area there is exactly ONE metal show and it's on Friday night (Friday night rocks with Eddie Trunk). Eddie is more concerned with playing "Number of the Beast" for the 500th week in a row than actually trying to expose new metal bands. He's even said it himself (and I'm paraphrasing here) "I will not carry the flag for the new wave of metal." A ton of us call every week and try to get stuff played and he just flat out refuses. He plays Nevermore maybe twice a year. I call as often as possible and request it but unless it's to hear "Paranoid," it's not getting played. The best thing we all can do is just get it around by word of mouth. I'm not a fan of Meshuggah but if I met someone who liked that sound, I would certainly point them in that direction. The trick is to get the kids at FYE interested in this stuff and to get them to stop polluting themselves with crap like Linkin Park. If the bands we like start getting a serious push (look at Lacuna Coil) then it will have to get airplay.

after hearing 4 of the new songs live i know for a fact that this CD is going to rule, the 4 songs were some of their heaviest and definately most technical yet, really outstanding.

As far as order of albums from best to worst my personel opinion is:

Dreaming Neon Black (10/10)
Enemies of Reality (9/10)
Dead Heart in a Dead World (9/10)
Politics of Ecstacy (8.5)
Nevermore (8)

All nevermore is amazing tho and you cant go wrong with any of their releases. xxx xxx xxx

5 - Dreaming

Looking forward to see them again live and, of course, their new album. I was very impressed with the studio report video file I saw recently.
